3 OVERVIEW Located at the heart of Central Vietnam and at the crossroads of the north-south and east-west trading routes, Danang provides easy access to the country s large markets such as Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, all within an hour flight radius. 9 Danang - The Eastern Gateway of the East- West Economic Corridor Danang Port is the Eastern gateway to the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC), acting as the access point to the Pacific Ocean of the virtually untapped hinterland of Laos, Northeast Thailand, Myanmar and Central Vietnam. It generates a huge opportunities for Danang to develop economic exchange with other nations in the Greater Mekong Subregion and the Indian Ganges River economic areas. 13 Danang International Airport, less than 10 - minute drive from the city centre, is one of the three best airports and the third busiest terminal in Vietnam. The three - storey terminal on an area of 36,600m 2 has enabled it to meet the standards of the International Aviation Transport Association and accommodate 4-6 million passengers per year. Danang International Airport is linked to many big cities in Vietnam and different Asian cities in Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Cambodia, and many cities in China, with more than 390 monthly international flights. 14 Telecommunications Danang is one of the most advanced telecommunication hubs nationwide with a well-established infrastructure for international connectivity. It is also the first in the country to implement a citywide wireless broadband network, Danang Wifi, with about 350 access points across the city, providing companies and individuals with accessible and secure communications. Danang is one of the three most important end points of the national trunk network and the international direct connecting point. The International Marine Optical Fiber Cable Station (SEMEWE 3) with an international transmission line of 10 Gbps linking Vietnam with nearly 40 countries in Europe and Asia is based in Danang. The world standard IT and Communication Infrastructure System in use, comprising a Metropolitan Area Network (MAN), a Data Centre, an IT R&D and a Training Center.
