The EXPO Conference Intensive Training Sessions are reserved for those attendees who have registered for those specific sessions. Please do not attend Intensive Training Sessions for which you have not registered. Extra/additional tickets for any of the EXPO events marked: This is a ticketed event will be available at the conference registration area in the Albuquerque Convention Center. Free public wi-fi internet service is available at several hotspots in the Albuquerque Convention Center. For EXPO attendees staying in the host Hyatt Regency Hotel, in-room wi-fi will be free throughout your stay. Your official Community Transportation EXPO badge will serve as a free bus pass on all ABQ Ride buses throughout the conference week. 4 Welcome to EXPO Greetings to all Community Transportation EXPO 2013 attendees and exhibitors and welcome to Albuquerque, New Mexico. On behalf of all my colleagues here at the Community Transportation Association of America, I d like to thank you for joining us this week. While you re here, please don t hesitate to let me or any of our Association staff help you make your EXPO the best experience possible. Albuquerque represents a real transit success story. In fact, all across New Mexico transit ridership is at record levels, thanks to the great work being done by the New Mexico DOT, the New Mexico Public Transportation Association and most importantly the growing number of community and public transportation systems that call the Land of Enchantment home. Your EXPO name tag will serve as transit pass on Albuquerque s ABQ Ride system and I encourage you to experience transit in one of America s great cities. EXPO 2013 s training courses are among the most timely, pertinent and targeted group of sessions we ve ever staged. There s something to meet all our attendee s needs, from hands-on, technical sessions to more broad-based, visionary perspectives, I m sure you ll leave Albuquerque with new skills, new ideas and a better understanding of the trends most likely to impact the community and public transportation field. Every EXPO s main street is the Trade Fair floor. This year s group of exhibitors features the very latest products and services, all gathered together along with knowledgeable and friendly representatives. CTAA s theme area, as always, will be the heart of the Trade Fair and I invite you to stop by and chat with CTAA staff members, collect our latest resources and chat with industry friends. I ve always said that networking opportunities the chance to catch up with transit colleagues 4

The National Community Transportation Roadeo is our traditional kick-off to the EXPO week, and it s one of my conference highlights every year. This year s Tribal Transit Summit takes place at an important milestone in the evolution and growth of tribal transit programs. Passenger Service and Safety (PASS) Train-the-Trainer Albuquerque Convention Center, Acoma Room Instructor: Russ Parish, Arkansas Transit Assoc., Little Rock, AR Attendees will receive training and a professional certification in the critical elements of safety, sensitivity and passenger assistance. This workshop is designed as a three-day Train-the-Trainer to certify trainers who can then train drivers in the passenger assistance techniques and sensitivity skills appropriate for serving persons with disabilities. Note: This workshop is discounted for Roadeo Drivers. Certified Community Transit Supervisory (CCTS) Albuquerque Convention Center, LaCienga Room Instructor: Mike Noel, Lazaro-Noel, Johnstown, PA The best public and community transportation operations are those that are managed effectively and efficiently. In this certification workshop you will learn to develop and demonstrate your ability to manage front-line transit employees, ensuring system safety and reliability in the process. Preparing for the CCTM and CTPA Examinations Albuquerque Convention Center, Pecos Room Instructor: Chris Zeilinger, CTAA, Washington, DC Prepare for our industry s professional management examination, and gain a fresh overview of all the key ingredients of effective transit management. State transit personnel are encouraged to take this class as part of their Certified Transit Program Administrator (CTPA) study program. This course is designed for senior-level community transit managers with some experience who are looking to broaden their knowledge base and build on their professional skills. An instructor from the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, developer of the 2011 Performance Measures for Public Transit Mobility Management report, will teach a one-day training session developing performance measures to support achievement of both mobility management and transportation coordination goals. The instructor will cover fundamentals, approaches, and applications of performance measurement, including collecting and analyzing data needed to implement performance monitoring. During the day-long class, participants will have the opportunity to apply course materials directly to their own local coordinated transportation and mobility management goals. In this one-day session you ll learn how to develop an appropriate business plan for your agency, and how that plan can help you meet the system s goals whatever they might be. Effective business plans can guide your technology and capital expenditures, marketing campaigns and even service provision. How to Address the Issue of Distracted Drivers Albuquerque Convention Center, Aztec Room Instructor: Jim Holman, Trenton, NJ As more systems rely on driver communication to make real-time changes, agencies have to alter the way they do business to prevent minor incidents or catastrophic accidents. This course will discuss problem identification, impact and corrective measures as well as look at solutions to driver distractions that include changes in policy, technology and situational awareness. Design Thinking for Mobility Solutions Albuquerque Convention Center, Laguna Room Instructors: Carolyn Jeskey, CTAA, Washington, DC; Amy Conrick, CTAA, Washington, DC; Caryn Souza, CTAA, Washington, DC Note: This session is supported by the National Center for Mobility Management. In this session, participants will learn how to facilitate a customer-centered process, known as Design Thinking, to design, test, and deliver responsive mobility solutions. Session participants will learn a fourphase process used recently by CTAA s Job Access Mobility Institute teams that takes the facilitator, community partners, and target customers through 17

This training is intended for transit providers, mobility managers, and other community leaders.
