1 RIDE REPORT ADELAIDE AND MELBOURNE SUB BRANCHES. MOUNT GAMBIER MEET AND GREET WEEKEND 12,13,14 MARCH 2016 On the weekend of the 12th, 13th 14 March 2016 the Adelaide and Melbourne Sub Branches came together for the first time for a historic meet and greet weekend at The Old Mount Gambier Gaol SA. The weekend was well organised by Bucky from the Adelaide Sub Branch. Where we were all locked up for the weekend. Only joking Saturday 12th March The weekend started with Melbourne Sub Branch meeting up at the Mcdonald's car park at Sebastopol Vic, to head to the Old Mount Gambier Gaol in SA. At 0930 members headed up the Glenelg HWY with most of our journey in thick fog and misty rain. Visibility was poor but the members followed SOP 9, so we didn't lose anyone. Our first stop was at lake bolac to stretch our legs. Our next stop was at Hamilton where we grabbed a quick bite to eat at KFC and Mcdonalds. Then it was of to Casterton where we had a quick stretch of the legs before heading towards Mount Gambier to meet with BUCKY. BUCKY met the Melbourne Sub Branch members a few Kms away from Mount Gambier and led us to our accommodation. The distance travelled on our forward journey, Sebastopol Vic to Mount Gambier 301 km 3hr 29min.

2 Saturday Night 12th March After getting our accommodation sorted out we had time to rest up before we head out to the Mount Gambier RSL for our meet and greet Dinner. It was a great night with excellent company. At the table BUCKY handed out an itinerary for the whole weekend. The Itinerary included the opening of Buckys bar and raising funds for Legacy. Both Presidents and members from the Adelaide and Melbourne Sub Branches discussed around the table on how we could make this an annual event. The evening was a great success with all members getting to know each other.

3 Sunday 13th March An excellent breakfast at the Mount Gambier RSL to start our day. The RSL put on a huge breakfast, for only $10:00 a head, most of us didn't eat lunch. It was a great start for what turned out to be an excellent day. Both Sub Branches rode together for the first time, From the RSL we all headed towards the Princess Margaret Rose Caves. Bucky as Road Captain followed by both Presidents Executives Sierra Squad and Noms. Tail end Charlie for the day was BARNESY secretary Melbourne Sub Branch. We all arrived at the Princess Margaret Rose Caves, safe and sound. Bucky was informative on how the tour was going to be conducted. Some members chose to go down inside the cave while there was a group who stayed behind and took the scenic tour of the grounds. How's the Serenity

4 After a relaxing coffee break at Princess Margaret Rose Caves we headed along the coast and stopped to have a stretch of the legs and take in the beautiful sights along the coastline of Port Macdonnell SA. Members walked along the jetty to take in the magnificent view, before mounting up and riding to Feasts Classic Car Collection. Upon Arrival at Feasts Classic Car Collection members grabbed the opportunity to have photos taken along the mural wall. With Bucky leading the way we all headed to the Blue lake. The weather started to warm up that made for a great ride. Bucky led us on a scenic route along the foreshore and then through the lookouts towards the Blue lake.

5 Managing not to lose anybody, we arrived at the Blue Lake. The Adelaide and Melbourne Sub Branches had time to quench our thirsts before we went on a Guided tour of the Blue lake. The tour was very informative, and below are just a few statistics about the Blue Lake. Capacity: 30,000 megalitres on current levels. One megalitre is 1000kL, one kilolitre is 1000 litres. Depth: Maximum depth of 72m metres Shoreline: Approximately 3.5km kilometres Surface area: Approximately 70ha 59 hectares Height above sea level: The crater rim is 100m 115 metres above sea level (at its highest point) and the Blue Lake water level 11.5m above sea level in The lake level is approximately 28m below Commercial St level Water supply: Currently SA Water pumps an average of 3500 megalitres per year.

6 The next stop was at the Umpherston Sinkhole. Also know as The Sunken Garden. It was a beautiful sight, with a garden on the bottom of the sinkhole. The Sinkhole was created when the top of the chamber collapsed downwards. Now the topsoil down on the floor of the cave forms the perfect environment for the sunken garden. We all took our time having a look at this wonderful display of nature. After we had our tour of the gardens, all of us went back to our accommodation, to get freshened up for the unveiling of Buckys Bar.

7 Sunday 13th March 1730 hr Bucky arranged for a bus to pick us up and take both Sub Branches to his place to officially open his bar, and all funds raised would be donated to Legacy. The night started with us all commending Bucky on his work building the bar. We all paid $17 a head which gave us tickets for drinks and a beautiful beef wrap cooked by Buckys wife Deb. The night was accompanied with music and a video screen, screening music video. A wood fire and excellent company made for an excellent night. Raffles were drawn with members from the Melbourne Sub Branch winning 3. Well done SVEN, BREED, and KINGY. BUCKY, DEB, and family should be commended for their hospitality, and their ongoing work for Legacy. On arrival to Buckys Bar we all had a group photo. Adelaide and Melbourne Sub Branches together at last.

10 Monday 14th March. We all had an early rise, with breakfast at The Old Mount Gambier Gaol. Everyone said our goodbyes, and Adelaide was first to leave. The Melbourne Sub branch left Mount Gambier at The whole weekend was a complete success and well organised by Bucky.
