1 A COLLABORATIVE NATIONAL DIALOGUE ON INNOVATION AND THE CONTRIBUTION OF TOURISM TO CANADA S SUSTAINABLE FUTURE VICTORIA, BC JANUARY 20-23, 2019 PROGRAM IMPACT Sustainability Travel & Tourism 2019 will take place at the Victoria Conference Centre from January 20-23, Sessions will explore climate change, technology, transportation, Indigenous culture, policy, and new tourism trends and experiences. The 2019 program will explore: Ecology and Environment, Community and Sense of Place, Culture and Heritage, and the Economy. Co-Chaired by Keith Henry, CEO of Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada and Marion Joppe. Professor, University of Guelph, and President, Tourism Environment. IMPACT Sustainability Travel & Tourism 2019 is presented in partnership between Destination Greater Victoria, Synergy Enterprises, Beattie Tartan Integrated Communications and Starrboard Enterprises. 2 DAY 0 - SUNDAY, JANUARY 20 DAY OF IMPACT PRE-CONFERENCE TOUR DAY OF IMPACT 10:00am-4:00pm* *Meet at the Victoria Conference Centre (Totem Area) 9:45AM Join us for a day of experiential learning as we showcase thriving tourism businesses who have implemented innovative sustainable practices into their everyday operation. Cruise Victoria s Inner Harbour with Eagle Wing Tours, the world s first carbon-neutral whale watching company, and learn from local operators and organizations who are proving that true sustainability is not only possible, it s profitable. Enjoy a delicious, responsibly sourced lunch provided by Songhees Events & Catering on land at the Victoria International Marina, followed by a tour of Canada s first luxury green marina, before reboarding Eagle Wing Tours Forever Wild Vessel for a wildlife tour (weather pending). Tour presenters include: Victoria International Marina, City of Victoria, Eagle Wing Tours, Songhees Nation, Harbour Air, Greater Victoria Harbour Authority and Jacques Sirois of Naturehood Greater Victoria/Nature Canada. OPENING RECEPTION SONGHEES WELLNESS CENTRE 6:00pm-8:30pm 1100 Admirals Road *Transportation will be provided from the Victoria Conference Centre to the Opening Reception. Buses will depart at 5:45PM, 6:00PM and 6:15PM. join us as we gather together to have our say in shaping canada s future as a global leader in sustainable tourism. Open to all registrants, this evening will celebrate the kick-off to IMPACT and welcome all delegates to beautiful Greater Victoria, B.C. Hosted at the stunning Songhees Wellness Centre, guests will enjoy a west coast inspired menu of hors d oeuvres, action stations catered by Songhees Events and Catering, and locally produced cider and beer poured by Merridale Cidery & Distillery and BC Ale Trail partners. There will be a special performance by the Lekwungen Dancers and local leaders will be in attendance to share in the celebration. Recommended Dress Code: Business Casual
