A biofuels shale oil pilot plant (producing specialised hydrocarbons like diesel fuel and jet fuel). 8 Australia Pacific Liquefied Natural Gas (APLNG) Boyne Smelter Limited (BSL) Cement Australia Ph: Web: Ph: Web: Ph: Web: APLNG is a coal seam gas (CSG) to liquefied natural gas (LNG) project delivering a cleaner, greener sustainable energy source. BSL is the largest aluminium smelter in Australia. BSL produces more than 570,000 tonnes of aluminium per annum. Australia Pacific LNG extracts natural gas from the coal seams in the Bowen and Surat Basins for use in the domestic market, as well as transporting it via pipeline to an LNG facility on Curtis Island where it is compressed and liquefied through a cooling process, and shipped to customers in Asia. BSL produces high quality ingot and billet. The majority of aluminium produced at the smelter is exported to South East Asia and North America and is used in engineered products for the aerospace, mass transportation, building construction, electricity transmission, wind-power generation, recreation and leisure industries. The export LNG Facility commenced operations in 2015 and has the capacity to process 9 million tonnes of LNG per annum. 9 Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) Ph: Web: The Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) is a State Government owned organisation that owns and operates Awoonga Dam on the Boyne River, the fourth largest water storage in Queensland. GAWB is responsible for ensuring the long and short-term water needs of current and future customers are met in ways that are environmentally, socially and commercially sustainable. GAWB is the sole supplier of raw water to major industrial sites in the Gladstone region and supplies treated drinking water to Gladstone Regional Council for distribution to homes and businesses. GAWB supplies about 100 mega litres of water to Gladstone each day, 70% of which is supplied directly to industry as raw water. In addition to the dam itself and a network of water delivery pipelines and water treatment plants, GAWB also owns and manages all the recreational facilities at Lake Awoonga, including picnic shelters, BBQ facilities, walking trails, playgrounds and boat ramps. GAWB also owns and operates a Fish Hatchery, where Barramundi, Mangrove Jack and Sea Mullet are bred to restock Lake Awoonga each year. GLNG Santos Ph: Web: Facebook: Santos GLNG is a pioneering venture producing natural gas from Queensland s coal seams, to be converted into liquefied natural gas (LNG) for sale to world markets. It involves ongoing gas field development in the Surat and Bowen Basins, a 420-kilometre gas transmission pipeline, and an LNG plant on Curtis Island, near Gladstone. Santos GLNG is led by Australian company Santos, in partnership with three of the world s leading energy companies PETRONAS from Malaysia, Total from France, and KOGAS from South Korea. Santos GLNG will be operating in the Gladstone region for decades to come and is proud to be a long-term member of such a great community. Gladstone Ports Corporation (GPC) Ph: Web: Port of Gladstone - Port of Bundaberg - Port of Rockhampton - Gladstone Marina Gladstone Ports Corporation (GPC) are a Company Government Owned Corporation (GOC), responsible for the import of raw material and the export of finished product associated with major industries in the Central Queensland region. GPC manage and operate three port precincts including the Port of Gladstone, Port of Bundaberg and Port of Rockhampton. 11 QGC Ph: Web: QGC is a Shell-owned business and the world s first producer of LNG from natural gas sourced from coal seams. QGC has its headquarters in Brisbane, Queensland. QGC is one of Australia s leading natural gas explorers and producers, focused on developing Queensland s world-class gas reserves for supply to the domestic market and international customers. QGC operates a two-train LNG facility on Curtis Island, near Gladstone. The project loaded its 100th cargo in February Employment: Our peak construction workforce was 14,500. Our workforce has naturally declined as construction has been completed, but we are retaining a long-term operations team in Gladstone. Recruitment for that workforce has been completed and we are very proud that 98% of our 300 QGC direct employees and contractors are locals. Current status: In December 2014, QGC became the first operation in the world to produce LNG from natural gas sourced from coal seams. The facility loaded its 100th cargo in February Looking ahead, QGC is focused on continuing safe and reliable operations. Estimated production: The plant is expected to reach plateau production of approximately 8 million tonnes of LNG per annum in Queensland Energy Resources (QER) Ph: Web: QER is an Australian company headquartered in Brisbane, with a New Fuels Development Centre located near Gladstone. The company was formed to help tackle Australia s growing reliance on imported transport fuel. For example, 85% of the diesel used to run our farms and mines, bring in tourists and stock our supermarket shelves is currently derived from overseas sources. New, Australian sources of high quality transport fuel are needed to help reduce this dependence. QER has tenements and a sustainable technology to develop Queensland s largest kerogen shale reserves (also known as oil shale), containing some 18 billion barrels. The company has successfully operated a demonstration plant at its Gladstone site, producing ultra low sulphur transport fuels mainly diesel and jet fuel, which were proven to meet retail fuel standards through a comprehensive program of testing and trials. The operation was thoroughly reviewed by Queensland s department of Environment and Heritage protection and found to meet and better all of the high environmental standards required under its licence. Following the successful completion of the trials, QER has plans for a commercial new fuels facility to be located on the Stuart oil shale resource at its Gladstone site, with a capacity to produce around 8,000 to 12,000 barrels a day of finished fuels, mainly ultralow sulphur diesel. Such a project would form the core of a new industry with the potential to create many hundreds of jobs. Queensland Resources Council Ph: Web: The Queensland Resources Council is a not-for-profit peak industry association representing the commercial developers of Queensland s minerals and energy resources. QRC works to secure an environment conducive to the long-term sustainability of minerals and energy sectors in Queensland. 12 Rio Tinto Yarwun Ph: Web: Southern Oil Refinery Ph: Web: Our world class Yarwun alumina refinery is situated ten kilometres north-west of Gladstone in central Queensland. Construction began in 2002 and the first shipment of alumina was made in late The refinery was the first greenfield refinery to be built in the western world in 20 years. An aluminium ore known as bauxite is transported from Rio Tinto Aluminium s mining operations in Weipa on Western Cape York to be processed into alumina at the Yarwun refinery, which is 100 per cent owned and operated by Rio Tinto Aluminium. Recent expansions have more than doubled production at the Yarwun refinery to 3.4 million tonnes of alumina per year, making Rio Tinto Aluminium one of the world s leading alumina producers. Yarwun s alumina is shipped to customers in Australia and overseas, including the Middle East. Refining Refining alumina (aluminium oxide) is the second step in the production of aluminium. Alumina is refined from bauxite using a chemical process known as the Bayer Process. Invented in 1888 by German scientist Karl Bayer, this process has four stages. 1. Digestion Bauxite is finely ground in mills and then mixed with a hot, caustic soda solution which dissolves the alumina contained in the bauxite. 2. Clarification The solution of alumina and caustic soda passes into rows of thickener tanks, where the solid impurities sink to the bottom as a fine red mud. The red mud (or bauxite residue) is a by-product of the process. It is washed several times with water, neutralised, and then stored at the residue management area. The clear solution is sent to the precipitation stage for the alumina to be recovered. 3. Precipitation Alumina trihydrate is added to the alumina solution in a line of precipitation tanks to seed the formation of additional alumina trihydrate crystals. 4. Calcination The alumina trihydrate crystals are washed, filtered and then heated in gas-fired kilns at temperatures greater than 1,100 C to remove water molecules, creating a fine white powder known as alumina. Southern Oil is a private, 100% Australian owned company, based in Wagga Wagga, NSW, which has been re-refining waste oil since Southern Oil s Wagga Wagga plant and Northern Oil Refinery at Gladstone are the only facilities in Australia producing fully re-refined lube oil accredited for use by a major international oil company for global applications. The Northern Oil Refinery at Yarwun, near Gladstone, is the only facility in Queensland capable of recycling waste lube oil back into base lube oil and is the most advanced re-refining plant of its kind in the world. It can re-refine up to 100 million litres of waste lube oil a year, meaning 100 per cent of Queensland s annual waste lube oil production can be processed through Gladstone, underwriting a new industry and local jobs and provides a long term, environmentally sustainable waste oil recycling option for truck fleets, heavy vehicle operators, mines and local governments. 12

Eight Mile Creek Bridge Working for Civil Contractor Georgiou, ISaM spent 12 months providing surveying services for the Eight Mile Creek Bridge and approach road in Bajool and the Widening & Intersection upgrade in Marmor. The $25m project, required ISaM to set up the project control and site GPS base station; perform preconstruction checks; create and install machine guidance files; set the machine guidance systems up and assist operators with trouble shooting; set-out the bridge, drainage works, road formation and furniture; provide conformance reports, EOM quantities and As-built & As-constructed Surveys. Monadelphous s project scope included fabrication, procurement, construction and commissioning of stockyard conveyors including structural, mechanical, piping and electrical work. The full scope of works included delivery of: Two in loading transfer conveyors with shuttling head; Three yard conveyors with shuttling head; A new outloading conveyor; A tail end extension to existing outloading conveyor; Three modifications to activate shuttling head. Construction of each conveyor also included structural erection, mechanical fitout and electrical installation for both control and power, in addition to ancillaries. Monadelphous recently also completed the Blacktip gas/condensate field located in the Bonaparte Gulf, 315km from Darwin. The project comprised a full well stream transfer from an unmanned wellhead platform via a 107km submarine pipeline, to an Onshore Gas Plant in the remote location of Yelcherr near Wadeye. The gas is treated for the removal of condensate and water and then exported via an onshore pipeline. The condensate is stabilised and stored for periodic transfer via an offshore loading facility to a marine tanker for onward transportation. In addition, our business also includes electrical and instrumentation services, fabrication, modularisation and installation of structural steel, plant commissioning, demolition, piping, marine and pipelines.
