8 CZECH AIRCRAFT INDUSTRY History goes back to 10 s of 20th century 1918: the first aircraft manufacturing company established in Prague - LETOV Rapid development in s In 50 s 80 s one of the most prospering sectors in the Czech economy Economic peak achieved in 1987: more than 1% overall turnover of EU aerospace industry, i.e. 617 mln EUR Economic recession and changes in 90 s of 20th century 8

45 TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION VUT 100 PROJECT new generation of four-to-five seater, JAR-23/ FAR-23 regulation, light, multi- purpose, single engined, all metal, low wing aircraft with 2+3 seating arrangement retractable tricycle landing gear. designed for basic and advanced training of private and military pilots, night flight and instrument flight training, general commercial use, tourism and sport flying, aerotowing and other special purposes. The VFR and IFR operation is assumed. 45

54 Goals of the Centre: a) in the technical area AEROSPACE RESEARCH CENTRE - advancement of selected disciplines to support specially the development of small GA aircraft - introduction of new selected disciplines and fields necessary for wider spectrum of users including aviation - completion of aerospace field missing infrastructure, which is a necessary condition for connection to western research and development structures and programs (EU, NATO) - gradual connection of the Centre to similar associations working in EU countries 54
