Ways in which sponsors should consider identifying the project priority rankings when submitting the ACIP to demonstrate the FAA rankings for eligible AIP. This session will also highlight the success of grant management and the appropriation of funds over the past year. You will also learn what changes may be taking place in planning ahead your ACIP for future years. The FAA representative will also brief airport sponsors on lessons learned from LAX & SFO ADOs. Best practices for assuring FAA items are completed and that the airport is truly positioned to accept another sponsor s entitlement. 2 WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 14 (continued) 1:00 2:00 pm SESSION 2 How to become a NOTAM Manager Airport NOTAM Manager is an FAA NextGen program which gives airports greater control over their NOTAMs. With the system airports can issue NOTAMs that meet applicable policy requirements in as little as 3 seconds, by bypassing Flight Services. The FAA is implementing the NOTA Manager program, free to public use airports throughout the National Airspace System (NAS). There are currently 880+ airports on the system, throughout the country, including 18 in California. This presentation will cover the benefits and the process for an airport to gain access to NOTAM Manager. Moderator: Sherry Miller, Airport Manager, Chico Municipal Airport Presenter: Jennifer Dady, Contract Support NOTAM Manager, FAA 2:00 3:30 pm SESSION 3 How to be prepared for an airport emergency and what to look for when inspecting your airfield. Airport operations management is the key to all airports. Having a solid routine inspection process for your airport and an emergency plan are necessary for all airports. This session will educate airport operators on what you need to know if something happens at your airport. How to have a communications plan? What is in your training process and resources for training records? You will hear from operations managers at a GA facility and commercial service facility on best practices. We will briefly here from Caltrans on the Governor s Office of Emergency Services new program for coordinating interagency emergency aviation and the potential role of airports. Moderator: Brendan O Reilly, Airport Manager, Fullerton Airport Panelist: David Decoteau, Operations Manager, Hayward Executive Airport Ian Turner, Operations Supervisor, Stockton Metropolitan Airport Derek Kantar, Aviation Planner, Caltrans Aeronautics 3:30 3:45 pm Break/Networking time 3:45 4:45 pm SESSION 4 Safety Inspections and best practices for addressing the airfield deficiencies to meet standards. 5:00 7:00 pm Harry s Reception This session will provide clarity for airports of the safety inspection process funded by the State of California and how sponsors can address or follow up frequently on progress reports for noted deficiencies. The FAA will also brief airports on the recent changes to the focus of the Runway Safety Action team (RSAT) and the type of actions this group is taking with airports in California. We will also learn about what airports qualify for RSAT evaluations and why it benefits your airport. Additionally, this session will provide airports with approaches for pursuing other revenue generating opportunities (e.g., aeronautical and non-aeronautical development, fuel storage facility development, through-the-fence development, etc.). Presenter: Paul Meyers, Aviation Consulting Group 9:30 10:30 am SESSION 6 Reaching Beyond Airport Boundaries, a Look at Public and Private Partnerships on Airports Private public partnerships are becoming a more frequent part of our industry. How do public agencies become more flexible at looking into whether it makes sense for your airport? What areas does it work i.e. management, development, and community involvement? You will hear from leading professionals that have success in developing strong partnerships with public agencies. They will educate the audience on what a healthy airport should look like and ways to approach elected officials properly and how to link the airport to the economic base of the community? The Marine Corps has summited a formal airspace proposal to the FAA for expansion of its SUA airspace in the area of 29 Palms. The expansion will include restricted airspace, MOAS and ATCAA s. The Marine Corps is conducting a very aggressive outreach program to inform the general aviation public of its requirements and the needs behind the requirements.
