Visitors are always welcome and encouraged to attend. For more information about the club, attend a meeting as a guest or contact any of the club officers. 2 SALEM R/C PILOTS ASSN. March 16, 2017 General Meeting The March 16, 2017 meeting of the Salem R/C Pilots Assn was called to order by Alan L in Garmin meeting room around 7:35pm. There were 15 pilots in attendance for the meeting. Minutes: The minutes of the last meeting were approved as published. OLD Business: CAP Rocket Even an enormous success! Everyone involved had an enjoyable time. SALEM R/C PILOTS ASSOCIATION FLOAT FLYS! Starting in May DIRECTIONS From Salem Take HWY 22 west turn right (North) on 99W and go about 11.1 miles and turn right onto Patty Rd. Go across bridge and find metal farm buildings on left and you will see pond. RULES AMA membership is required and remember you are on private property. There is a $5.00 Landing fee. So, mark it down and plan to come out and do some flying, eat and generally have a great time. See you there. WAR BIRD again headed by Mr. Dick Smith will be held on Aug 6 th. So this give you time to dust off the old warbird or get a new one done for the event. This was an exciting time last year so plan to attend. 2

3 SRCPA April 10 th, 2017 GAME: Our 19 th annual Fly in (3 days) will be Sept 15,16 and 17 so be sure and mark this down and come join all of us for the bash of the summer. Also, note there has been a reduction of size and wingspan of aircraft so check it out and get that plane ready. McMinnville Aircraft Modelers Event! Page 3

4 Pilot Training Wayne gave us several planes to use as Trainers. Get your planes ready the new season starts now! 4

5 SRCPA April 10 th, 2017 Field Condition: Field has dried and become a swamp this last week. Bring your rain boots if you want to walk anywhere! The drain ditch has had some improvements thanks to Alan and the tractor. We still need to consider someone clearing it with a Chainsaw. Expert level Chainsaw skills required. We will be purchasing Moss Out to help the field look better. Several suggestions were to have grass fertilizer in the mix also bags required. Runway size 1200 X 65 We need a work party and some gravel again! Details to come soon. Civil Air Patrol looking for new members! Bob K They have a Cessna 172 supported by the government and always need spotters. Additionally, they pull gliders and have several events over the year. Solar Eclipse August 21 st drawing a crowd. The CAP will have a hanger to watch it without looking at it directly. Al C mentioned there are several events requiring folks to Have a place to stay for the Eclipse.
