2 March 13/20, 2012 In the midst of the past, one of the most technological and advanced civilizations held its head up high, Egypt. Other than its creative architectural designs and its treasures hidden behind those thick walls, Egypt stands with pride and mystery along with the highest obelisk, the pyramids, and of course, the kings and queens of Egypt we never dared to take notice before. Now, it seems Egypt locks itself from the outside world, why? It seems rather than questions being answered, the answers are being questioned. Months and years of research of this mystical civilization, more and more information are being uncovered, but as for the previous research, some are of use or connected to the new research while some of them are now only proven as a theory. Other, than those pyramids, the Egypt s Pharaohs (King and Queen) have something more shocking to reveal, wouldn t you agree? Among the other Pharaohs, Hatshepsut stands out. Why you ask? Whether the information is from the books or from the internet, Hatshepsut was said to have worn a beard to disguise/conceal herself so that she would able to be the next Pharaoh. Her work was extremely a work of art making the next Pharaoh of Egypt erase all images/hieroglyphics proclaiming that there was such a Pharaoh who existed and created a far more better civilization than any other. There are more questions lingering about Hatshepsut, for example, Hatshepsut was a Pharaoh disguised as a man (Since she was also buried in the Valley of the Kings instead of the Valley of the Queens Fig. 1, Page 1 of Appendix) so she must ve been wearing a beard back then but she had a son, so was it possible that back then, Egyptians actually knew she was faking as a man? Now let us unveil the answers of one of Egypt s greatest Pharaohs, Hatshepsut, and her work and civilization back in the 18 th dynasty of Egypt s New kingdom.

3 What do you see when you hear the name Hatshepsut? Do you see a face of a king or a queen? How about someone or should I say, a woman wearing a beard? Quite intriguing isn t it? (Appendix Page 1, Fig. 2) Hatshepsut, a name well known even though her face and records of hard work was erased. But how could have she been well known without her records of work; certainly her images and information were erased by the next Pharaoh of Egypt so how could have see been described without her files? How did they also know that somehow or in some way that Hatshepsut was having feeling towards her regent? Well, there was her temple at Karnak, the inscriptions written on her temple wall may have not been destroyed which is a good thing that s why we have at least a bit of knowledge about her. One question that probably only the dead mummies who buried Pharaoh Hatshepsut can answer is, Hatshepsut was a great Pharaoh, and she ruled as king for a long time. As she is being prepared to be placed in her sarcophagus, why didn t the Egyptians arranging her burial chamber placed her inside the Valley of the Queens, shouldn t they have noticed that as they prepare the body? Even though she was known as King, her sex is female and she used a woman s way of thinking to improve Egypt, moreover, she had loved someone as a woman, her regent. She had married her half brother, Thutmose the 2 nd, and yet no one ever seemed to think that Pharaoh Hatshepsut was a woman. Our group had already decided that we are going to do our project on Pharaoh Hatshepsut, and how things worked out for Egypt when she was the Pharaoh. We are going to do our project using PowerPoint, Google SketchUp 3D (Appendix Page 2, Figures 1 and 2), and maybe try to bring some food relating to Pharaoh Hatshepsut s time period. For our PowerPoint, we will be using the exact same theme of this proposal (Ancient Technology the past and present combined; the progress of time; history). Our group will be adding background music to our PowerPoint (Currently looking for a suitable Egyptian background music) and pictures (Which will be presented soon, including her temple s map). For the food, we are looking into to what we will prepare; it is quite hard since we haven t quite found a specific topic on what Egyptians in Hatshepsut s reign were eating, but the group is really trying hard to look that up. For the Google 3D SketchUp model of Hatshepsut s temple, we have seen two great examples of the model of Hatshepsut s temple (Appendix Page 2, Figures 1 and 2). One of us had seen a website on how to do a paper obelisk, We are going to try and make one as a tactile model of the tallest standing obelisk in present time. The making of the model of the obelisk is kind of obsolete; and we are still quite unsure whether to do it or not, but as long as we have time to still make a model, we are gladly going to make one and present it to the class. We can t really explain what s going to happen for our presentation, we thought that giving information would be alright but it would kind of ruin the excitement, so we couldn t explain furthermore.
