As a young boy on a family canoeing expedition, he sat quietly one winter morning on a sandbank overlooking the Zambezi Valley. As the sun rose, he watched hippo returning to the Zambezi River from their nightly forage. He remembers being completely awestruck and knew from then on that he would pursue an adventurous life in the bush. This endless quest for adventure has taken Grant to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro, the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda in search of mountain gorillas, and of course, to the rare sand forest of &Beyond Phinda Private Game Reserve where he was a guide and mentor for six years. He then took on the role of Regional Ranger Trainer for East Africa and is now based in the Serengeti/Mara, heading up &Beyond s Mwewe Ranger Training School.
