2 Itinerary Overview Discover the wild diversity of elize on this fun filled adventure designed specifically for your family and to satisfy the needs of the adventurous teens and children. The inland rainforests are a veritable playground for hiking enthusiasts, mountain bikers, spelunkers, and those interested in uncovering the fascinating history of the Mayan people. Choose how wild you want to go based from the Caves ranch Ecolodge! River and waterfall cave exploration, kayaking, trekking, ancient Maya ruins; there s a world of adventures waiting. Then from the lush inland rainforests, you ll travel to the pristine coral reefs and white-sand beaches of the elize arrier Reef, the largest barrier reef in the western hemisphere. Head out on snorkeling adventures to observe brightly colored fish and an array of other marine life in this diverse underwater ecosystem. Kayaks are available for paddling offshore and certified scuba divers can easily arrange outings to explore the greater depths of the elizean underwater world. After all this active adventure travel, you may prefer to just relax in a hammock, close your eyes, and listen to the sound of the waves, the birds, and the wind in the palm trees... it's up to you! Itinerary in Detail DAY 1: ARRIVE IN ELIZE Arrive at the elize City International airport and set out West across elize to Caves ranch eco-lodge, a two hour drive away.

[D] DAY 2: ACTUN TUNICHIL MUKNAL CAVE Drive 45 minute past the town of San Ignacio, before setting out on a 45 minute nature hike through the surrounding rainforest.

3 Itinerary in Detail DAY 1: ARRIVE IN ELIZE Arrive at the elize City International airport and set out West across elize to Caves ranch eco-lodge, a two hour drive away. Caves ranch lodge is an adventure driven location tucked away in a beautiful rain forest reserve on the shores of the Caves ranch River in elize's Cayo District. Overnight at Caves ranch Jungle Lodge. [D] DAY 2: ACTUN TUNICHIL MUKNAL CAVE Drive 45 minute past the town of San Ignacio, before setting out on a 45 minute nature hike through the surrounding rainforest. The hike includes three stream crossings and passes through the 6,700 acre Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve. Actun Tunichil Muknal "Cave of the Stone Sepulcher" is the most impressive cave in the Maya Lowlands. Located in the heart of the elizean rainforest, this cave was a sacred place to the prehistoric Maya of elize, who first began to use the entrance during the early classic period ( AD). The cave system consists of a series of chambers, ending in a 300 by 50 meter cathedral where sacrificial ceremonies once took place. Here you will be exposed to the individuals sacrificed to the gods of the underworld. A good level of physical fitness is required along with the ability to swim. Overnight at Caves ranch Jungle Lodge. [LD] DAY 3: RUINS AND RAINFORESTS ADVENTURES Caves ranch is well located in the Cayo District for numerous explorations into the elizean rain forest. These days are yours to choose from a menu of included adventures. Spend time together in your secluded cabana, kayak on the Sibun River, hike in the surrounding forest with a naturalist guide learning about natural herbs and medicines, go horseback riding, or float through a cave on an inner tube and hike to see underground Mayan ceremonial sites. Two adventure tours plus the ATM cave (already included on day 2) are included during your 4 night stay. If you re feeling extra adventurous ask about an optional day trip to the Mayan ruins of Tikal, Guatemala, or a zip lining adventure (these day trips at additional cost). [LD] DAY 4: HUMMINGIRD HIGHWAY TO PLACENCIA Enjoy one of the most scenic drives in elize along the Hummingbird Highway through the Maya Mountains to Robert s Grove on the Placencia Peninsula. Arrive at the beach, kick off your shoes, and enjoy the warm Caribbean ocean or just relax in a hammock and let the fresh scent of clean salt air lull you into peaceful reverie. A Caribbean style resort is the perfect way to end your vacation with the option of multiple activities (not included) such as reef and fly fishing, sailing, and SCUA diving (instruction and certification available). The elize arrier Reef is the longest unbroken barrier reef in the world. Your guide will swim along with you pointing out the dazzling array of tropical fish, hydrocorals, sea fans, feather plumes, sponges, and sea cucumbers. Return to the lodge for lunch, and enjoy the rest of the day relaxing at the beach. Don t forget the sunscreen! The remainder of your stay is at your leisure. Additional tours and activities can be scheduled with the lodge manager during your stay.
