5 A Letter from the President Hello All! The year is flying by and here it is almost the New Year. We had a nice Christmas party. It was well attended and we all had a great time. The food was fantastic and we welcomed some new members. In the spirit of giving we also awarded our first veterans award in memory of our friend Herb Hilton. It was given to a young Marine that has served active duty and is into snowmobiling. It is allowing him to attend an off trail riding trip with a few of his friends and Mark C. that otherwise would not have been possible. Have a great time guys!..happy NEW YEAR.. 5

7 Easy Riders Snowmobile Club First Annual Veterans Donation in Memory of Herb Hilton This year with the passing of our own Herb Hilton, a Marine Veteran, the BOD decided it was time to do more for veterans. The BOD discussed it s charitable contributions over the years, especially it s veterans donation and decided rather than donate to a general fund for veterans which we have done for years, it would be more beneficial to donate to an individual veteran. In this regard, the BOD voted to establish a new veteran s award in memory of Herb Hilton. It will begin this year and be an annual award. The BOD established the following criteria for the award: The individual, like Herb must be an honored Veteran, a local New Englander, an avid snowmobiler, a family man/woman, an active member of his/her community and of course an all-around good person. The 2018 winner of the first ERSC Annual Veterans Donation in Memory of Herb Hilton as voted by the BOD is one of the winners of the Skin_Z Ultimate Freedom contest. Skin_Z is a US manufacturer of aftermarket Snowmobile, bicycle and motocross products based in Glendale, AZ. They ran a national contest to honor a single veteran who paid a great price for the freedom we take for granted. As it turns out, they surprised everyone and actually selected 3 individuals and gave each of them a customized late model cool looking off trail snowmobile. One of the winners was a local man who meets all of our criteria and then some. This individual did 7 tours over 6 years, lost a child to cancer, as well as faced many other personal challenges..despite all this, he remains strong, humble, loving and supportive to all. He is an avid snowmobiler and is active in his community. The winner of this year s first ERSC Veterans Donation in memory of Herb Hilton goes to Buddy D Agostino, a Marine Veteran from New Ipswich, NH. We all know Herb would be proud of this selection. Buddy was unable to attend the presentation of the award at our Christmas Party, but we hope to get him to attend our final banquet in April so we can all meet him. Accepting the award for Buddy were two of his good friends, Jeff and Ryan. This year s award to Buddy is a gift certificate to Aventures Chic Choc which will fully fund Buddy s lodging and guide services for this January s ERSC first ever off trail trip to the Gaspe Peninsula being organized by Mark Carrier. In addition to the gift certificate, a membership to the ERSC is included in the hopes Buddy might consider some other on trail trips with us. 7

This weekend is also is the Quebec free weekend. Bob has 8 rooms blocked off tor that time period. MLK WEEKEND TRIP TO MILLINOCKET Jan 18 21, 2019 Gary Lapierre is coordinating an alternate trip to Millinocket on MLK weekend for those who do not want to drive all the way to Ft. Kent. Hotel accommodations are at the Baxter Park Inn. Details as follows $124 for room with 2 queens. $114 for room with double bed. Suite $259 a night. Call Gary can block rooms if people are interested. Contact Gary if you have any additional questions. PRESIDENT S WEEKEND TRIP TO JACKMAN Feb 14 19, 2019 John Bryant is coordinating our winter picnic trip to Jackman over president s week-end. John recommends staying at Bishops, though there are several other places to stay in the area. Jackman maintains ITS trails running north, south and east making it possible for riders to visit a number of areas. Jackman is considered Maine's "hub of snowmobiling." Three groomers running six nights per week is one of the reasons Jackman has the best area trails. You can go any direction you want east towards Moosehead lake and Millinocket south towards the Forks, south, then west to Rangeley or north to Canada The club will do their dinner Saturday night at Schmooses pub and grill in Jackman hope to see you all there. We hold our meetings on the second Tuesday of every month October through March, at 7:00 PM. at the Marlboro Moose Family Center - Post DIRECTIONS FROM ROUTE 20 East of Marlborough. Proceed West on Route 20 through Marlborough center and onto Interstate 495 north. Then follow the Interstate 495 directions below. FROM ROUTE 9 East or West. Best route is to take Interstate 495 North then follow Interstate 495 directions below. FROM INTERSTATE 495 North or South, Take Exit 25A toward Route 85 Hudson.
