5 RegionalRepresentation NBAA s six regional representatives have worked this year not only to help NBAA Members deal with local challenges, but they also have spent time educating the public, local elected officials and opinion leaders about the importance of business aviation. Here are some of their accomplishments: Greg Voos, Southeast Regional Representative Voos helped organize Tennessee s first regional business aviation group, the Tennessee Business Aviation Association. The group is applying for its 501(c)6 and eventual 501(c)3 Alaska status to allow them to advocate on behalf of general aviation on the local, state and national level. Dean Saucier, Northeast Regional Representative Saucier worked with the Massachusetts Airport Management Association and the Massachusetts Aviation Caucus to convince Governor Deval Patrick to continue funding Cape Cod Community College s aviation program. Saucier asked NBAA Members in Massachusetts to contact their legislators and encourage them to override the governor s veto of the aviation education budget item. Subsequently, legislators voted unanimously to retain the program. In an attempt to bolster the Eastern Region Helicopter Council s efforts to preserve Long Island s East Hampton Airport (HTO), a new group called the Friends of HTO was formed. Saucier helped NBAA Members in the area tell legislators of the need to preserve operations at HTO.
