Probe in a spiral pattern, in 30 cm intervals around the marked fine search result. AVALANCHE-PROBES iprobe II Communicate a hit and leave probe in place. Even with systematic probing work, the buried person can be missed several times and this can lead to untercertainty. When probing with the iprobe a continuous signal & a steady light indicate a hit. 6 Foto: Giulia Monego Foto: Melissa Presslaber Foto: Giulia Monego On Skis across the east face The Matterhorn east face: one of the most daring decents in the Alps 50 average gradient Altitude difference 850 m On the 14th of May 1975, the Italian mountaineer, extreme skier and mountain guide, Toni Valeruz completed the first decent of the east face. Because of over 50 first descents inside and beyond the Alps, Toni Valeruz is considered to be one of the most outstanding steep face descent skiers of his generation. The Matterhorn in the Wallis region of Switzerland, due to its distinctive shape and climbing history, is known as one of the most famous mountains in the world. With a height of 4478m the Matterhorn is the landmark of Switzerland. The first successful ascent on the 14th of July 1865 over the Hörnligrad from Zermatt, was lead by the English expedition leader Edward Whymper. The Matterhorn became famous due to the race to become the first to ascend and the tragic loss of 4 mountineers during the decent. An Italian expedition lead by Jean-Antoine Carrel attempted the ascent at the same time, but chose to go over the Liongrat from Cervinia. They reached the peak three days after Whymper. In May 2016, four young female freeriders (three of which are members of the Freeride-team) set out to travel this spectacular wall on skis. The two Austrians, Melissa Presslaber and Lorraine Huber, one Italian, Giulia Monegro and one Frenchwoman Liv Sansoz, all of them passionate mountaineers, were able to complete this adventure successfully. This challenging undertaking requires thorough planning. However, any planning done is pointless if the snow and weather conditions are not optimal. Due to the east-facing direction and the meterological divide of Switzerland/Italy, the Matterhorn is an uncertain undertaking because of its exposure. Many years passed since I first considered crossing over the East Face on skis. Many failed attempts lay in between. Giulia experienced something similiar. She eyed the Matterhorn East Face for a long time too, but it simply wasn t the right time. Now it was. On the day of the ascent and crossing, everything was just perfect. The weather was great, the snow conditions perfect, the body and soul, and the cooperation of our team. It was the perfect day and I am so glad and grateful that I was able to share this adventure with other people who have the same passion as I do. - Melissa Presslaber Foto: Lorraine Huber

8 Multiple deployments The compact Lithium-Ion battery supports 4 airbag deployments per charge Practice without additional costs Because the system uses jetfan inflation instead of compressed-gas-cylinders, -Jetforce can be deployed for training without additional costs The revolution in airbag technology Jetforce is the first electronic avalanche-airbag technology with jet-fan inflation In 2 torsolength available Airbag KNOW HOW & Jetforce advantages An inflated avalanche airbag increases the chance of survival: 89% With airbag 78% Without airbag In critical burial, an existing air pocket increases the probability of survival: 1,5-2 hours With air pocket is also helping in the case of burial! minutes Without air pocket An avalanche airbag minimizes the critical burial risk: 20% With airbag 47% Without airbag 200 L That s how big the air pocket will become through the Jetforce after the automatic airbagevacuation. Only an inflated airbag helps! 20% According to statistics, the person concerned fails to trigger the airbag in 20% of serious cases. Reason is the uncertainty with the systems. Professional avalanche experts, such as Mountain guides & rescuers, practice regularly Familiarity with the trigger mechanism and training increase the release rate and safety. Practice without additional costs Increase the familiarity of your Jetforce! big air pocket Due to the automatic Airbag-evacuation in the case of burial you get a 200l hollow space. 10 AVALANCHE PARAMETERS READY TO HAND 30 PLUS XT measure - for your safety! The slope gradient is the key indicator when it comes to evaluating the avalanche danger. Irrespective of the level of risk (danger level), half of all avalanches occure between 36 and 42, the mean value is 39. The probability of triggering a skiing-avalanche increases with the slope-gradient. The electronic inclinometer and thermometer for the ski pole Slope-gradientindicator Easy to attach to all standard ski poles First estimate, then check! Replaceable coin battery C F Temperature display C or F You only can assure a risk-minimised ascent and descent snowtrack, if you are able to evaluate visually the slope gradient in a correct way.
