1 Wild West Overland Adventure Buffalo Wyoming to Thermopolis, Wyoming June 18 21, 2017 Sunday - Wednesday Trail Rating 2-7 We are thrilled to offer an overlanding adventure on our schedule! The adventure begins in Buffalo with our welcome reception and check in at the Occidential Hotel in Buffalo, WY that was established in 1880! Enjoy a beverage in the beautiful historic saloon and meet the others that will be on the trip with you. We will also have a very special group dinner on Sunday at the Historic Virginian Restaurant, which is connected to the Occidental Hotel. When you receive your welcome packet in the mail, you will make your selection for dinner. After dinner, the owners and staff of the Occidental Hotel will be giving tours of this very historic and said to be spirited hotel. This quaint little town is full of history and wonderful shops to wander through. You may want to come a day early to take in all the sights. For those that take the Gold Package option, you will stay in the historic Occidental Hotel where the likes of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid stayed! On Monday the group will depart out of Buffalo, WY and venture up through Crazy Woman Canyon, over mountains and valleys on the beautiful and scenic backroads of Wyoming that make you feel like you have stepped back 100 years. This portion of the adventure is strictly scenic, so take a breath and enjoy your surroundings. The group will arrive at camp where you will be greeted by the camp staff and have time to get your tent all set up before a authentic dutch oven dinner, a campfire to relax around before bed and finally when you retire to your tent, the night sounds of the open prairie to lull you to sleep. On Tuesday the adventure continues towards our destination of Thermopolis, WY, home of the World s Largest Mineral Hot Springs. After continuing on the beautiful trail, we arrive in Thermop as the locals call it. Gold package members will get checked into the Best Western Hotel while the others in our group get settled wherever they have made their reservations. The entire group will meet up for a wonderful dinner before enjoying a relaxing hour or two at one of the Hot Springs pools in town. Wednesday morning will find everyone gathering for a group breakfast before each group leaves for their chosen adventure for the day. If you have decided to spend your final day on the trail, you will be pleasantly surprised at the trails that await you. For those that have decided to take in a different activity, you will have a wonderful last day on our adventure. We will get you all back in plenty of time to clean up and relax before our final group dinner and the end of our adventure together. We look forward to sharing this trip with you and showing you parts of Wyoming that even some natives never see. We hope you take the time to read the information in this packet so that hopefully all of the questions you might have will be answered. Should you have other questions, please call or one of us so that we can help! EVENT SCHEDULE Sunday, June 18, :00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. Your vehicle will be inspected to make sure you meet the requirements then we invite you to step into the Welcome Reception where you will receive your registration information and meet the other participants attending. Definitely bring: Prescription Medications Tent (Provided for Gold Package) Sleeping Bag & Pillow or blankets Cot and/or Sleeping mats Lounge chairs Flashlight & batteries Suggested you bring: Lantern (fuel if needed) First Aid kit Towel / wash cloth Soap & Shampoo Toothbrush & toothpaste Bug repellent Extra shoes Sunscreen Jacket / hat & gloves Warm clothes Clothes for hot days Swimsuit Camera Might be nice to have: Small shovel Hammer Rope (clothesline & 1,000 other uses) Clothespins Binoculars Board games / cards Fishing Pole and gear Ear Plugs (you never know who might sound like they are sawing logs nearby!) CB radio required: There are many safety issues regarding upcoming obstacles transmitted over the CB radio by your trail guides. It is required that each vehicle to have a CB radio. Learn interesting facts about the area - history, local plant and wildlife, as well as exciting stories.
5 Things to think about: The lands we use: Our adventures include the use of approved private land on some trips or on public lands through special use permits. As a customer, you are not allowed to return to use the private land after your 307 Adventure. The public lands used for your 307 Adventure have been granted because of special use permits that have been filed. Before accessing any public lands on your own, make sure you can be there! Tread lightly! Is critical for the future: Travel responsibly on designated roads and trails or in permitted areas. Respect the rights of others including private property owners and all recreational trail users, campers and others to allow them to enjoy their recreational activities undisturbed. Educate yourself by obtaining travel maps and regulations from public agencies, planning for your trip, taking recreation skills classes, and knowing how to use and operate your equipment safely. Avoid sensitive areas such as meadows, lakeshores, wetlands and streams, unless on designated routes. This protects wildlife habitat and sensitive soils from damage. Do your part by leaving the area better than you found it, properly disposing of waste, minimizing the use of fire, avoiding the spread of invasive species, restoring degraded areas, and joining a local enthusiast organization. Should we have water crossings: We may have water crossings and water holes. It is very IMPORTANT to watch and listen to your trail guide. Please be sure your air intake is disconnected. Your trail guide can help you with this if needed. When driving in deep water, GO VERY SLOW! If your engine gets wet and stalls, DO NOT try to start it as you may cause serious engine damage. How we rate the trails we use: We have rated our 307 Adventures based on a scale of (easiest) to 10 (the most difficult). These ratings are based on the overall trail, not just on one or two tough spots. Rain can increase ratings by one or two points. Numerically higher rated Adventures are more likely to result in damage to your vehicle. 1-2 Obstacles and terrain are relatively easy to navigate. In optimum weather conditions, some trails may not require continual use of four-wheel drive (4WD). 3-5 Moderately demanding. Challenge for novice drivers. Obstacles may include: mud holes, boulders, and streams. Requires 4WD with 4-LO. 6-7 Demanding. Challenge for most skill levels. Mud holes get deeper, boulders get larger, and climbs get steeper. Requires 4WD with 4-LO. 8-9 Very demanding. Likelihood of getting stuck is high. Mud holes may be deep and rock climbing is more arduous. Lifts and lockers are helpful. Requires 4WD with 4-LO. 10 Extremely demanding. Reserved for the toughest off-road Adventures Rain may increase trail ratings 1 or 2 points, especially with street tires. Before you leave home: A waiver form must be signed by everyone attending, regardless of age (parents / guardian for minors). No electronic signatures accepted. New registrations, adding or changing passengers: It is very important to register new vehicles, add or change passengers at least two weeks prior to the trip date. This will enable us to give an accurate count to our caterer for the meals. Please note that registration prices are per person, not per vehicle. Event T-Shirts are included with your registration. You will give your preferred shirt size at the time of your registration, as well as you can also order additional event shirts when you register as well. Pre-ordered event T-shirts will be given to you when you check in at registration. We will have other merchandise available, but keep in mind sizes and quantities are limited.
6 Questions we know people have: Who can come? Whoever you want! As long as they each have a required seat belt in your Jeep 4 4. Bringing pets is strongly discouraged. If your pet must attend, you must submit a pet waiver prior to event. What does the 307 Adventure fee cover? Your fee covers all necessary permits, land-use fees, experienced guides for the entire trip, three meals on both Friday and Saturday. NOTE: Meals vary. Regretfully, no accommodations can be made for special diets or dietary restrictions. Also included is an official 307 Adventure dash plaque and collectable pin All participants must be officially registered. What kind of vehicle can I bring? 4x4 vehicles with a 4-LO transfer case are welcome to attend and go on trails rated 3 and above. Vehicles without 4- LO may ONLY use trails rated 1-2. Your four-wheel-drive vehicle is required to be in good condition, with good tires, brakes, and seat belts. We are not limited to Jeeps and Toyota s only Could my vehicle be damaged on a 307 Adventure? Every effort is made to make the trails as safe as possible. Participants are advised to closely follow instructions given by trail guides. However, there s the possibility of damage to your vehicle when traveling rough terrain. Any damage is the owner s responsibility. 307 Adventures with higher difficulty ratings are more likely to encounter terrain that may contribute to vehicular damage. Participants are required to sign a waiver form. 307 Adventures policies that you need to know. Safety Our trail guides are trained to put your safety first. If they ask you to refrain from any activity, to avoid specific trails or areas, which jeopardizes you or your fellow participant s safety or is not authorized for our use, please follow their directions. As agreed to in your waiver, all participants agree to wear his or her respective seat and shoulder belts. Alcoholic beverages While we know that some people enjoy a beer, glass of wine or cocktail after a long day on the trail, please note that alcoholic beverages are not permitted on any trail ride. Violators will be removed from the 307 Adventure, money will not be refunded, and those involved will be banned from all future 307 adventures. Refund policies We realize that unexpected events such as work conflicts, mechanical problems and illnesses may cause you to cancel your trip. However, we have many business partners that we pay deposits based on a preliminary participant count, therefore in order to limit the impact of cancellations the following penalties apply to your refund should you choose to cancel: Days Prior to Trip Date Penalty Reservation to 60 Days $ days to 30 days 50% 29 days to 8 days 75% 7 days to trip date NO REFUND Transfer Fee $50 Should you choose to transfer from one trip to another trip in the SAME calendar year you may do so for $50 per transfer. Should you need to transfer, this must be within 30 days from trip.
