3 Welcome The River Thames plays a vital role as both an artery for transporting people through the heart of London and as a playground for people to explore the wonders of our city. Travelling on the Thames is a fantastic experience that reveals 2,000 years of history whether you are commuting on the River Bus or are taking a leisurely River Tour. We re making a raft of improvements to get more people on to the River and there s never been a better time to make the most of what London s greatest thoroughfare has to offer. 1

6 Fares and tickets Buying your ticket Most operators offer advance bookings via their website or by phone. Alternatively please purchase your ticket at the pier prior to travelling. River Bus passengers can now use Oyster pay as you go to touch in when boarding and touch out when leaving the. Please check local publicity at the piers for details. Child and Senior Citizen rates Children s fares apply to those aged 5-15 (4-15 on the London Eye River Cruise and 5-16 on City Cruises). Senior Citizen rates apply to those aged 60 or over who do not have a Freedom Pass. River Bus Oyster pay as you go can be used to touch in and touch out on River Bus services. Passengers using Oyster pay as you go do not need to queue at the ticket office and will pay the lower Oyster pay as you go fare rather than the standard fare. Please ensure you have sufficient pay as you go credit on your card before arriving at the pier as it is not possible to top up at piers. River tours You can use your pay as you go Oyster credit to buy a paper ticket for Circular Cruise Westminster and Thames River Services. Just present your Oyster card at the pier ticket office. Fares discounts Travelcard holders Most operators offer one-third off normal advertised adult and child fares on production of a valid Travelcard or Oyster card, loaded with a valid Travelcard, when purchasing a ticket. Some restrictions apply. Freedom Pass holders Many operators offer 50% off the adult fare on production of a valid Freedom Pass. 4

7 Season tickets Regular River Bus users can make great savings by buying a season ticket. It also means you can enjoy unlimited travel on your chosen River Bus route. Students Discounts on some cruises are available to holders of the following: NUS card 18+ Student Oyster photocard (on MBNA Thames Clippers services only) Please check when you buy your ticket. Dogs and bicycles Some services will carry dogs and bicycles. Please check with the operator in advance. Mobility-impaired access Most piers have easy access for wheelchair users and many s are also fully accessible to those who have impaired mobility, including on-board toilets. However, at busy times additional s may be used that may not have full access. Please contact the operators directly for further details. Alternatively, call Transport for London on *. 5

13 Woolwich Ferry Mondays to Fridays Saturdays (and public holidays) Sundays The Woolwich Ferry links Woolwich and North Woolwich and carries cars, vans, lorries, cyclists and pedestrians. Two s run Mondays to Fridays, one runs on Saturdays and Sundays. Boats run approximately every 5-10 minutes throughout the day Mondays to Fridays and 15 minutes on Saturdays and Sundays. For example, a journey from Embankment Pier to North Greenwich Pier will pass through the Central and East zones so the standard Adult single fare will be Travelcard holders save one third on standard fares. Freedom Pass holders save 50%. Children under 5 travel free. Book your Thames Clippers tickets on the go. 18 City Cruises Westminster London Eye Tower City Cruises is the largest operator of tours on the Thames. Enjoy the sightseeing on open-air decks, with commentary as you cruise along the river. Most s feature multilingual commentary and are wheelchair accessible. Greenwich Daily every 30 minutes Eastbound from Westminster Westbound from Greenwich An additional 50 minute circular cruise runs from Tower Pier, from 10:00-16:00. 21 London Eye River Cruise London Eye Pier Daily A 40-minute circular sightseeing cruise between the Houses of Parliament and Tower Bridge with live commentary presented by specialist guides in English. Audio commentary is available in French, German, Spanish, Mandarin, Dutch, Russian, Japanese and Italian. Boats also have a Hearing Loop system. Suitable in all weather, as the has both covered and sun-deck seating. Both decks are accessible for wheelchair users. Hourly from 10:45-19:45. Fares Adult Children (4-15 years) 6.58 Senior (Mon-Fri) Groups of 15 or more and online advance bookings receive a 10% discount. 22 Thames River Boats Westminster Kew Richmond Hampton Court Tidal conditions between Kew and Hampton Court may cause the temporary suspension of the above service. At these times WPSA may instead operate a 45-minute circular service from Westminster Pier, heading upstream.
