2 OADBY OWLS Welcome everybody to the Oadby Owls 9 and 11 a-side tournament which has a total of 100 teams competing at the under age groups over the two day period. L ent was a great success and I am pleased to welcome back many teams from that and previous tournaments hosted by Oadby Owls. The event received a tremendous amount of positive feedback and I The tournament has once again attracted a large number of teams from outside of Leicestershire. Around 60 teams have travelled into the county ensuring that everybody plays against teams not normally encountered in their local area. In providing substantial game time, teams have an ideal opportunity to prepare for the season ahead. There is no extra time in any fixture team can win the event, but the opportunity is there for everyone to enjoy and gain some meaningful pre season football. Clearly the event is a competitive tournament. We trust that teams and management will adopt a friendly approach. We ask that any decisions made by officials are both accepted and respected. None of us get everything right all of the time, so even if the decision is considered a poor one and goes against you, please accept it and move on. Managers, parents and players must all conduct themselves responsibly. Referees are instructed to officiate as they would normal League matches. Teams will be reported to their respective FA if considered appropriate by the match officials. It certainly happened last year. Oadby Owls prides itself at being at the forefront of junior football in the Leicestershire. We hope that the tournament reflects the high standards adopted at Oadby Owls and that everyone, not least the players, has a fabulous day. Oadby Owls is a very progressive Charter Standard Community Club. Currently we have some 37 teams operating at various levels within the Leicestershire leagues. We have a Saturday morning Academy for children aged 4 through to school year 5. This regularly attracts over 200 boys and girls each week. I would also like to thank the army of Oadby Owls volunteers who are once again giving up their time and energy in the pursuit of others enjoying themselves. The clubs volunteers really are fantastic and football at Oadby Owls would not exist without them. 3 One of the younger boys in our Academy was recently diagnosed as having Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) a life limiting severe muscle wasting disease. During 2012, Oadby Owls donated an incredible 3, towards this cause and we will continue to support them in 2013 through our variety of events our target is to reach 10,000. About Duchenne (DMD): 100% fatality rate! Most do not see past their twenties Majority are in a wheelchair by 12 years old It causes respiratory and heart failure It affects 1 in every 3,500 boys born There are NO CURES at present. BUT scientists are on the VERGE of finding one. By supporting their aim you are helping to fund world-class research to help save THIS GENERATION of children. Alex was diagnosed with DMD shortly before his 4 th birthday. Alex is now 6 years old and to most he looks completely normal but on the inside his body is struggling and his muscles are oves playing football and absolutely loves fast cars and has aspirations and dreams just like every other child does. We do not want to give too much information out at the club about who this little boy is as he knows very little about the condition other than that he has 'poorly muscles' and that's the way the parents would like to keep it until he reaches an age where he is able to digest and understand the information. - Emma. As a charity they are a positive, upbeat team of people who are dedicated to helping eradicate DMD and to put it in the history books where it belongs. 15 OADBY OWLS 9v9 & 11v11 TOURNAMENT RULES 1. All competing clubs must be affiliated to their respective County F.A The competition is affiliated with the Leicestershire and Rutland County FA and as such all participants are subject to the discipline processes of the Leicestershire 4. All players are advised to consider their own private insurance to cover claims arising from their own injury or that of another player. 5. Players should play in their own age group as per the 2013/14 season 6. A player may play in the age group above his recognised age group but cannot play in the age group below. ie an under 15 player can play for the under 1 7. Proof of age must be available for each player and be produced on request to a member of the tournament committee or other official such as the referee. Where possible this should be a registration card from the current or preceding season. 8. No player shall be registered or play for more than one team throughout the same 9. No player who is signed on by a pro or is eligible to play. Representative sides are not permitted to enter. 10. Teams will submit a squad list prior to the start of the tournament. 11. The under 11 and 12 age groups (9v9) are restricted to a squad size of 14. With regard to the under age groups no team may have more than 16 players listed in the squad. 12. There will be a maximum of 5 substitutes allowed and these will take place on a roll on roll off basis with the permission of the referee when the ball is out of play. This applies to all age groups. 13. Players dismissed from the field of play by virtue of a red card (or two yellows) will automatically be ineligible for that teams next game. 14. Players dismissed from the field of play for violent conduct or any other serious offence may be prevented from taking any further part in the tournament. This will be at the discretion of the organising committee in conjunction with the match referee. 15. Any misconduct by players or officials will be reported to the appropriate County Football Association. The tournament is affiliated with the Leicestershire & Rutland County FA. 16. Oadby Owls embraces the current RESPECT campaign. 17. Matches will be of a duration set by the Tournament organiser. Teams will turn straight around at half time. 18. Where, for any reason, a team fails to play a fixture, the opposition will be automatically credited with a 3-0 victory. 19. Three points will be awarded for a win and 1 point for a draw. Where qualification to the knockout stages is an issue and 2 or more teams are level on points the team with the best goal difference shall take precedence. In the event of goal difference being equal the team with the highest number of goals will qualify. In the event of this being equal qualify. In the event of this having been a draw qualification will be decided by kicks from the penalty mark. This will consist of the best of 5 and sudden death thereafter if necessary. 20. In the event of a draw at full time at the knockout stage there will be a penalty shoot out. Initially 5 each then sudden death if required. 21. No extra time in QF, SF or finals. 22. Each team is to provide a 2 nd set of shirt colours in the event of a colour clash. The second named team shall be responsible for changing their strip. 23. All questions of eligibility, qualification of player or interpretation of rules shall be referred to the organising committee, but no objection relative to the dimensions of the playing area or other appurtenances thereon shall be entertained unless a protest is loaded with the referee before the commencement of the game. 24. Size 4 footballs shall be used for under 11, 12, 13 and 14 age groups. 25. Size 5 footballs shall be used for under 15 and 16 age groups. 26. The first named team shall be responsible for providing the match ball. Participating teams are invited to ensure that their footballs are clearly marked with their team name. 27. Teams are asked to warm up adjacent to the utilised pitches and to adhere to the tournament schedule. 28. The organising committee reserves the right to amend the playing schedule as circumstances dictate. 29. Oadby Owls Football Club cannot accept liability for injury to players or spectators or loss/damage to property. 15
