5 RUB OF THE GREEN Charlie Ulevich / Director of Grounds The season is winding down to its last few weeks, but we re hoping the weather will hold out and golf can continue well into the holiday season. As we get into the next couple of months preparations of the courses for the approaching winter will get started or in some cases continue. Leaf removal has already begun with the first couple of frosty mornings. Those cold nights in conjunction with a very windy last week of October have helped the leaves rain down. Efforts will continue until they are all mulched, blown or collected so the leaf rule won t have to be in effect. Additional activities will include the blow-out of the irrigation system, tree pruning and some late-season aerification will continue as long as the weather allows. While the staff and crew take care of the pre-winter work, contractors are progressing well with the renovation of #10 Hialeah. Another contractor has started the cart path replacement project for the remaining holes that are closed for the renovation. The cart path work will also continue as long as the weather allows and will start again in the spring as soon as the weather breaks. The upper practice tee project that included the re-grading and leveling, new drainage and seeding has been completed and now the grow-in is underway under the blankets. The timeline for completion and reopening of the tee and 10th hole are yet to be determined exactly, but as we progress through the remainder of this year and into next, updates will be sent out via Valley Voice or .
