Tennis News Dear Members, This month I will be giving you a quick update on our tennis

4 Tennis News Dear Members, This month I will be giving you a quick update on our tennis facility project. Courts 7 and 8 have been reopened for play, but they do not have lights as of yet. Courts 5 & 6 are almost done. The guys are working on trying to lay clay, but this week has been a total wash with heavy rain. Once they are able to finish the clay they will install all lights on courts 5 through 8 before moving on to the other four courts. We had a set back with the above ground irrigation and locating the main water line to get the maximum pressure in order to water the courts. This problem has now been resolved, and we know what to look for on the remaining courts. As far as the tennis over here, well, everyone is staying hydrated due to the very hot days we have been experiencing. Not only the heat but the humidity has been very rough. The year-round players are still able to play a great amount of tennis with either Round Robins and clinics, or HEY, maybe just some fun tennis!!!!!!! 6 Social & Dining News Marina CAfe Extended Through September The hours of operation for lunch are Tuesday-Sunday 11:00 am-2:00 pm. Come out to the Marina Café and support the Club during this time. Club Members can enjoy buffet dinners on Friday nights in the Clubhouse. Friday night Happy Hour will still be available from 5:00 p.m-7:00 p.m. with light hors d oeuvres. The following is the schedule for Friday night dining during the month of August: 6:00-9:00 August 15th Shellfish Boil August 22nd Cheeseburger in Paradise August 29th - Country Cookin Night Food & Beverage Hours and Locations/offerings are subject to change due to renovations. The Scoop from Chef Scott With the opening of our newly constructed kitchen production areas right around the corner, I am starting a monthly informational piece to keep the Membership informed as to what products we will be offering and standardizing for the upcoming season. For the season, the emphasis will be on raising the quality of the goods procured while maintaining a value in pricing for Members. I will be partnering with companies that can offer high quality, nutritious products on a consistent basis. I will offer web links when available for Members to compile any additional information that may be interesting. Our Chicken supplier this season will be Springer Mountain Farms, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Some of the attributes of the company that were appealing are that their products are 100% natural, no antibiotics are used, no growth stimulants or hormones are used, 100% U.S. pesticide free vegetarian feed with no animal by products, and they are American Humane Association Certified. This company voluntarily goes beyond the requirements that are required to be considered organic. Many poultry companies buy their feed from outside of the country and send the whole chicken product to places like China for fabrication. We will have our chicken cut fresh to our specification in Miami, and delivered 5-6 days per week as required. This product will be featured in both Johnny Brown s and the new Tiki Cafe outlet upon opening. We would encourage your feedback on the new products as we roll them out this fall. 10 Birdhouse Kids Craft What you need: Clean empty half gallon milk or juice carton hammer & nail 1/8 dowel or twig that is 3-4 in length weatherproof paints paintbrush glue buttons twigs String or plastic cord Instructions: 1) Glue the carton closed 2) With the hammer and nail, make 2 small holes in the top flap for hanging loops. 3) Draw an opening about 2 above the base of the carton, then cut it out. 4) Poke a small hole 3/4 below the circle. 5) Poke dowel or twig through small hole 6) Paint in desired color 7) Glue buttons and twigs to carton 8) Thread the string or plastic cord through the holes at the top flap. 9) Fill with birdseed and hang.
