2 Oregon Marina Guide NOTHING OVERBOARD Oregonians value the pristine waters of the state. In cooperation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the State Marine Board is enhancing our waterways by providing transient tie-up facilities and vessel waste collection facilities statewide. This guide lists all public and private facilities open and available for public use. Have a safe, enjoyable outing. MISSION STATEMENT The Oregon State Marine Board is Oregon s boating agency dedicated to safety, education and access in an enhanced environment. OREGON STATE MARINE BOARD Paul Donheffner, Director December, Special thanks to the people and agencies participating in the Marina & Moorage Survey who provided the valuable information about their facilities found in this guide. Funding for this guide is provided by a grant from the Clean Vessel Act and the ing Infrastucture Grant Program, funded through the Sport Fish Restoration Program, administered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Additional state matching funds were provided by the State Marine Board using registration fees and marine fuel taxes paid by boaters. Also, thanks to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for their cooperation in locating graphics for use in this guide. Contact the Marine Board at: Oregon State Marine Board PO Box Salem, OR 979 () This guide is provided by the Oregon State Marine Board and funded under the Sport Fish Restoration Program by your purchase of fishing equipment and motorboat fuels. 3 Piloting a boat in Oregon s diverse waters is not necessarily a simple matter, but it is rewarding. ers have a unique perspective as they tour the scenic coastlines, rivers, lakes and reservoirs of this state. Some will choose to photograph or simply remember what they ve seen stretches of water and tree-lined shores serving as home or resting place for waterfowl and shorebirds, and large and small mammals from otters to deer and elk. Other boaters will more actively participate by pursuing assorted species of fish plentiful in many of the state waters. As boaters, we may be pursuing different adventures, but one common need threads among us facilities that enable us to launch, dock and service our boats. The Oregon State Marine Board publishes the Marina Guide for your use and enjoyment. The guide is funded by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Clean Vessel Act funds. In the regional listings, you will find information on marina services, on-water fuel availability and transient moorage facilities. As you explore Oregon s waterways, we encourage you to be good stewards of our water environment. This publication can help, with locations indicated for sewage waste disposal and waste oil tanks for recycling. If you have a marine sanitation device, use pump-outs; let pump-out owners know if they don t operate correctly. If you don t have a marine sanitation device, use landside facilities or one of our offshore floating restrooms. By using Clean Vessel practices and by bringing all trash ashore, reducing disposable and hazardous materials used in boating and by recycling, you can help protect Oregon s waterways from pollution. This Marina Guide is your beacon to using Oregon s waters wisely. Handle this precious resource with care and enjoy clean boating in Oregon. Sincerely Oregon State Marine Board Trey Carskadon, Tigard Deborah McQueen, Scappoose, Chairperson Bob Montgomery, Cascade Locks Jim Whitty, Coquille

To find a marina, note the section number for the area of interest, then use the Table of Contents to locate marina details for that area. If you know the name of the marina, check the alphabetical listing of marinas on page 8. This guide is for use by recreational boaters who are looking for a public or private marina or transient facility to moor their boat. It lists boating-related services available at these facilities; and a special section for disposing of boat sewage. The focus is on mid to larger-sized recreational boats (over 6 feet in length). Information on small boat access sites, parks or other facilities is not listed in this publication, but can be found in other State Marine Board guides (see index page for a list of publications). Also not included in this guide are large commercial moorages, restricted members-only marinas or any other facility that doesn t allow general public access. The base information was collected by a mail and phone survey conducted in. To the best of our knowledge, all information was reliable as of the date of publication. However, marinas rapidly change owners and names, so all information may not be current. Please call ahead and make sure the facility has what you are looking for. If you find something that is not consistent with the information published in this guide, please contact us. 6 How to use the Marina Guide There are two ways to find a marina in this guide. If you know the name of the marina you are looking for, use the index located at the end of the guide to find the page it is listed on. If you know the general area you want to find a marina in, use the Oregon State Map located at the front of the guide to get the Section Number for the area you are interested in. Locate that section in the Table of Contents to find out which page it s on. Details for specific facilities are included in the listings for each marina. (See Sample Marina Entry on next page.) Since mooring rates and fees change constantly, we have made no attempt to include them in this guide. Many publicly owned transient moorage facilities are offered free for public use, but many are located at parks that require a small day-use fee. Moorage at these facilities is usually limited to 7 hours or less. Most of them were built by funds provided by you, Oregon s boaters, using marine fuel taxes and registration fees. Many new facilities are being funded by the Federal ing Infrastructure Grant Program. Please do your part and help keep them clean. Report any problems to the local agency responsible for each facility. er s Services Symbols A Gas on water B Diesel on water C Landside public restroom C Floating public restroom D shower E launch F hoist G Picnic area H Campground I Fish cleaning station J Store and supplies K Restaurant L repair services M Waste oil tanks N holding tank pumpout O Potty dump station P livery rental Q sales R electricity T water All services indicated in marina entries are open and available to the public at or adjacent to the facility or within / mile walking distance. The symbols are listed here. Only on-water fuel stations are listed. Fuel is designated as being gas or diesel; blended fuel mixes are not indicated. Landside restrooms include all restrooms open to the public on land, on a pier, or on a dock attached to land. Floating public restrooms are typically anchored offshore. Potty Dump s are for use by boaters dumping portable toilets carried in their boat. Recreational vehicle sewage dump stations are not listed.

7 Typical Marina Entry Following the name of the waterbody, each facility entry is organized like this: Name of Facility body, River mile Physical Site Address Type of Owner (public or private): Owner s Name Facility Telephone Number C C Symbols for er s Services Available (on land or water) Length of transient float or type of slips A/S/W/T (annual, seasonal, weekly or transient) Marinas are marked on section maps with numbers that correspond to their entry number (example:., above). Within sections, marinas are organized alphabetically under their waterbody heading. Please note that the address provided is the facility s PHYSICAL address, not its mailing address. Please call each marina to get its mailing address. The phone numbers listed will connect you with the facility operator, harbor master or parks manager who is responsible for on-site management. These people are often not the legal owners of the facility. Abbreviations and Moorage Codes Ft NFR OSMB Res. RM RV A S W T Feet National forest road Oregon State Marine Board Reservoir River mile Recreational vehicle Annual ( months) Seasonal ( months) Weekly (7 days) Transient (<7 hours) Type of Moorage and Moorage Terms There are two basic types of moorage: broadside transient dock and individual boat slips. Individual slips are usually rented on an annual, seasonal or weekly basis. Transient dock users are usually charged a daily rate; in some cases (public docks), they may be available for use free of charge on a first come, first served basis. Moorage Terms: Slip A space to moor or store a boat Open (Wet) Slip A slip that is not covered, and therefore unprotected from the elements (wind, rain, etc.) Covered Slip Dry Storage Transient Dock A slip which is covered, e.g. by a wooden structure, to protect boats from the elements A space where the boat is out of the water; includes dry moorage as well as dry storage spaces A float where boats can moor for a short period of time; usually broadside moorage Sewage Collection Facilities pumpout stations, potty dump stations and floating restrooms are shown in this guide. In most cases, boat waste collection facilities do not charge for public use as many have been developed using a combination of state and federal grant funds provided through the State Marine Board. This service helps you and keeps our waterways clean. Just look for the pumpout sign on the dock when you enter the marina. PUMPOUT STATION

58 Waste Collection Facilities The Marine Board uses Clean Vessel Act funds to provide pumpouts, dump stations and floating restrooms, focusing on the most heavily used waters across the state. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service administers CVA funds through a competitive grant program. To encourage use of these facilities, no fees are charged. The Marine Board encourages everyone to do their part to keep sewage out of Oregon s waterways by following these five simple best-boating practices:. Encourage everyone to use the shoreside facilities before casting off. ers, swimmers, water skiers and anglers all depend on clean water.. Prevent dumping any untreated sewage into inland lakes, rivers or coastal waters inside the three-mile limit. Use this guide to plan ahead to use existing pumpout and dump stations.. When going boating for three or more hours use this guide to plan for onshore restroom stops while buying fuel, picnicking or stopping at on-water restaurants or use a floating restroom.. Keep fats, solvents, oil, emulsifiers, paints, poisons, phosphates, disposable diapers, and sanitary napkins out of your holding tank or portable toilet. These items can damage the sewage disposal equipment and impact the cost of disposal.. Help other boaters understand ways to control boat sewage; be a clean boating steward and pass pumpout/dump station location information on. Encourage marina operators to install a pumpout and dump station. Look for the International pumpout logo the next time you go cruising. For more information about the Clean Vessel Act, please request a copy of the -6 Clean Vessel Act Plan. PUMPOUT STATION POTTY DUMP STATION Pumpout/Dump Operating Instructions There are several brands of pumpout and dump stations used in Oregon. The equipment ranges from single pumpout and/or dump station to combination units. The basic operation is the same for all units.. Locate and remove sewage through hull deck fitting. Insert pumpout nozzle firmly into the deck fitting.. Turn on the pumpout, open nozzle valve.. Suction should start shortly, waste is visible in sight tube.. When all waste is removed, close nozzle valve, turn pumpout off. Instructions are printed on each pumpout at each facility. They are fast, clean and easy to use. Please remember to roll and hang the pumpout hose after you have used the pumpout. This prevents damage by boats tying-up and reduces the trip hazard. If the units are not operational, in disrepair or not functioning properly, please contact the facility operator immediately. 6

59 New Transient Tie-up Facilities Oregon s boaters are appreciative of the historical, archeological and scenic destination points on our waterways. The Marine Board, with federal assistance from the ing Infrastructure Grant Program, is expanding and upgrading a system of transient tieup facilities at coastal harbors and along major navigable waterways. Six-Year Statewide ing Facilities Plan and three Bi-State (Oregon/Washington) Lower, Mid and Upper Columbia River Transient Tie-Up Studies by calling () The ing Infrastructure Grant (BIG) Program is a nationally competitive grant program administered through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, specifically to provide large (over 6 ft) non-trailered vessels with transient tie-up facilities. The majority of transient tie-up facilities are provided by public agencies as a service to boaters. The Marine Board has several planning studies that document the need for transient tie-up facilities in the state. You may request a copy of the 999- Sand Island Tie-up Facilities. On-water Fueling Please do your best to protect Oregon s precious water resources. Review these simple tips when fueling your boat. Don t overfill your tank. Avoid splash back and have an absorbent pad ready if the automatic shut-off does not work fast enough. Avoid pumping any bilge water that is oily or has a sheen. Use an oil-absorbent pillow or bacteria sock in the bilge compartment. Recycle used oil and dispose of bilge pads, oil filters and antifreeze properly. Perform routine engine maintenance; check for oil and/or fuel leaks. Turn your blower on to ventilate enclosed engine areas. Remember... In case of a spill in the water, immediately stop the source. Notify the nearest marina for assistance and call the Oregon Emergency Response System at Gold Beach Fueling. 7

62 Clean ing ers can make a difference every day by practicing the following Clean ing etiquette.. Keep a trash bag secure on deck and keep litter from blowing overboard. Litter in waterways is unsightly, damaging to fish and wildlife and degrades the cruising experience. Nothing Overboard.. Use alternative cleaners, such as baking soda, lemon juice, vinegar and elbow grease. Avoid cleaners with bleach, ammonia, lye or petroleum distillates.. Do all hull scraping, sanding and chemical stripping ashore, over a drop cloth to catch all debris or use a commercial hull service.. You, your family, friends or boating club can adopt a stretch of Oregon s waterways. Twice a year spend a few hours with your group to clean up a two-mile segment of your favorite river, lake or bay. Contact SOLV at (8)-6 or If you would like more information about Clean ing Practices or are interested in hosting or being a part of the national Clean ing Campaign go to web page www. cleanboating.org.
