Scope and Contents The collection consists of reports concerning daily weather conditions and river stages, which were submitted by local observers throughout Mississippi to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration or to its predecessor agencies. Among the types of data recorded are the names of the station and county, the date and hour of the report, the river name and depth, and the general weather description ("cloudy," "clear," etc.). The original order of the collection has been retained. The records are in two groups: those dated before 1950 and those dated1950 or later. Within each group the reports are arranged alphabetically according to the name of the station. The inclusive dates are , but many of the stations do not have reports for all of the years. The records were microfilmed by the National Climatic Data Center, which retained the film.
