2 Girls Gymnastics Detroit Lakes wins third consecutive team title in Class A; Lakeville North wins first championship in Class AA Detroit Lakes, which includes students from Frazee, breezed through the 2017 State Gymnastics Meet and earned its third consecutive team title. The Lakers won two events and set two Class A records on their way to this year s championship. They set the record for highest team score ( ) and highest score on the uneven bars (38.150). Lakeville North won three events to capture the Class AA team championship for the first time in program history. Class A Detroit Lakes finished with a team score of , a new Class A record. The Lakers won two events this year; they won the floor exercise with and the uneven bars with a Class A record of This was the third consecutive and overall championship for Detroit Lakes. Cora Okeson led Detroit Lakes on the vault with a score of and Molly Lyngaas had a team-best on the uneven bars. On the balance beam, Peyton Jernberg led the way with a Emma Disse had the high score of on the floor exercise. Melrose Area was the Class A runner-up for the third consecutive season with a score of , and Austin was third at The Dutchmen of Melrose Area won the vault and balance beam with scores of and , respectively.
