7 Schedule II Districts A thru I Condition I 207 Centerline Miles 414 Lane Miles In 2008 Streets & Grounds Maintenance will follow a new snow and ice methodology. The Division will plow and/or sand heavily traveled arterials, called Primary Routes first, followed by the next lowest level of arterials called Secondary Routes and salt/sand only Auxiliary Routes. One truck with plow will be assigned to one of the 9 Districts. This crew will clear and/or sand all Primary and Secondary routes. Additionally each of these districts will be assigned a sand truck, which will be responsible for Auxiliary routes. Sand only hills, curves, traffic lights/stops, and bridges. If all Primary routes in the District are cleared and sanded, go on to the Secondary routes. Plow one lane for each direction of traffic, plow two-lane roads to curb and multiple-lane roads to center. Report in by radio each time you enter or leave a district. Remember to conserve material. This new methodology will allow for better movement of traffic in all directions thru the City of Tacoma.
