1.0 PROJECT DESCRIPTION Almas is proposing an Ayurvedic resort at Purthur near Ponnani. The proposed project provides five star facilities in a heavenly place very close to the Arabian Sea.

1 1.0 PROJECT DESCRIPTION Almas is proposing an Ayurvedic resort at Purthur near Ponnani. The proposed project provides five star facilities in a heavenly place very close to the Arabian Sea. The site spreads serenely over 5.2 verdant acres on the shore of the Tirur-Ponnani River. Besides, the project offers spacious livingdining rooms, traditional Indian style bedrooms and individual gardens with private plunge pools. The near sea shore site is a perfect location for yoga, meditation or simply quiet contemplation. 2.0 SPECIFIC LOCATION OF THE SITE The acquire land is owned by Almas Ayurvedic Hospitals and Research Center. The site is demarcated with compound walls on three sides with a gate on the western side. Panchayath road (Tippu Sulthan Road) passes through the western side of the site. The eastern boundary of the site is demarcated by a retaining wall. The eastern side of the site shares its boundary with Tirur-Ponnani Estuary. The northern and southern boundaries are land owned by private parties. The Google earth image of the site is shown in the figure given below. Figure: Google Earth image of the proposed site for Almas Ayurvedic Resort at Purathoor 3.0 DESIGN AND LAYOUT The total land area for the proposed project is 5.2 acres. The proposed Ayurvedic Resort includes facilities for accommodating the patients as well as the staff. Three main buildings are proposed for this project, Main Block, Second Block and Restaurant. Apart from the buildings, the project also proposes recreation space like tennis court, swimming pool, parking space for the vehicles etc. There is a STP for the treatment of sewage generated during the operation phase. The total land area of the proposed site is m 2. The plinth area of the proposed buildings is m 2.

2 3.1 Details of proposed buildings: The details of the proposed buildings are given below Main Block: The main block is a two storeyed building with Ground floor and First floor, which consists of twenty two premium rooms in which the patients will be accommodated. It also has a reception lobby, fitness facilities like Gym for ladies and gents, Yoga hall, and basic amenities like wash rooms and toilets in the ground floor. The first floor has the premium bed rooms with balconies. It also has open majilis and AC majilis for the gathering, library. And open terrace in the first floor. 6 3.1.2 SECOND BLOCK: The second block is a two storeyed building. Both the ground floor and first floor consists of utility rooms, treatment rooms, steam rooms and jacuzzi rooms. Utility rooms are attached with the treatment rooms. There are 40 such rooms together in the ground floor and first floor of the proposed Second Block of the resort. The utility rooms are meant for the preparation, mixing, heating etc. of medicines used for the treatment. The treatment rooms are rooms in which the patients will be treated as per Ayurvedic treatment procedures such as Uzhichil, Nasyam, Dhaara Thirummal, etc. There are two steam rooms and two Jacuzzi rooms in each floor. The steam rooms and Jacuzzi rooms are the basic facilities meant for the steam bath and body spa. Beside these rooms, there is a staff room in the first floor and a reception lobby in the ground floor. An elevator is provided in this building. The ground floors have sitting areas, service area, kitchen, store room, toilets and wash rooms. The first floor has sitting areas, four rooms and wash area. The food for the people coming for the treatment will be prepared in the restaurant. The special food as per the treatment procedures as per the treatment schedule will be prepared in the restaurant. The food will be serviced to the main block as per the need of persons coming there. 8 4.0 Proposed activities The major highlight of Almas Ayurvedic Resort is the blended treatment of Ayurvedic-Allopathy, which is offered to the present clients in Almas Ayurveda mainly from Middle East Countries. It is proposed to be a 100-bed facility initially with capability to offer all aspects of Ayurvedic care. Almas offers many leisure options, including a large swimming pool with water-spouting elephant sculptures and a luxury spa in Western, Oriental after Ayurvedic treatments and much more. The treatment facilities are a blended version of Ayurveda and Allopathy. Ayurveda mainly offers common kinds of treatment such as Ayurvedic Medicines, diet and lifestyle control and Panchakarma. All the facilities for the Ayurvedic Treatment will be provided in the proposed area of Almas. Ayurvedic medicines mainly comprise of powder, tablets, decoctions, medicated oils, etc., which are prepared from natural herbs, plants, and minerals. Panchakarma comprises a number of Ayurvedic therapies involving detoxification, therapeutic cleansing of the body and rejuvenation as a treatment for many chronic conditions. A group of 30 experienced doctors and nurses will be the staff team in the resort. The experienced staff will provide personalized care for a unique healing experience. The resort depends on allopathic methods for diagnostic of diseases and treatments in Ayurvedic way. The treatment facilities will be provided in the second block with the utility rooms. Medicines for the treatment will be stored and treated in the rooms attached to the utility rooms. Some of the treatments provided in the resort are listed below. 4.1 Rainwater Harvesting A rainwater storage tank of capacity Ltr (capacity m 2 50) is proposed in the project site for the collection of rainwater. The rainwater will be collected in a filter unit from the terrace/roof. Which will be further stored in rain water storage tank having a capacity of liter. Both the filter unit and storage tank will be covered using a R.C.C cover Slab. From the storage tank there is a connection to percolation pit/well through which the recharge of ground water will occur.

9 Figure 4.1: Rain water storage for Proposed Ayurvedic Resort 4.2 Solid Waste Management An incinerator is proposed in the project site for the treatment of solid waste from the project activities. 4.3 Sewage Treatment During the operational phase, a sewage treatment plant of capacity m 3 / day is proposed in the site. For the treatment of liquid waste an Expanded Granular Sludge Bed Reactor (EGSB) with a capacity to treat sewage of 24m 3/ day has been proposed for the project. It includes the following operational units namely, Grit chamber, Collection tank, EGSB reactor, Clarifier, Filters The treated effluents can be used for Inland Irrigation, reused for toilet flushing or discharged to streams.

11 5.0 OTHER FACILITIES PROVIDED AT RESORT INCLUDE: Ample car parking: In the proposed project 145 m 2 area is proposed for the car parking facility in the resort. It includes the parking for disabled also. In this space, 53 vehicles can be parked at a time. Tennis court: the proposed resort has a tennis court in the Yoga and meditation hall: Halls for yoga and meditation are provided in the proposed Main block of the resort. Gym for ladies and gents: the main block has the gym for both ladies and gents. Library: the main block of the proposed resort has a library in the first floor. Majilis Hall: AC Majilis hall and open Majilis for gatherings is provided in the first floor of the main block. House boat facilities: boating facilities are provided for the people coming to the proposed resort. Swimming pool:
