1 1 Cultural Karlsruhe On the occasion of International Singing Competition f Wagner Voices Semi-Final and Final Big cultural suppting programme with Wagner's opera (Tannhäuser), professional guided tours in culture and histy as well as excursion to the silver man's gans in Alsace with sht concert on the occasion of the 300th birthday of Johann Andreas Silbermann The International Singing Competition f Wagner Voices of the International Wagner-Society belongs to the established song competions wldwide. In 1994 the Wagner-Societies Lyon and Strasbourg invited round the first competition to Strasbourg. Since then the song competition every three years is ganized by a Wagner's association. The competition aims to identify singers with the potential of becoming Wagner experts after further voice development and stage experience. Consequently, the competition is open to those at the end of their studies and those at the beginning of their professional career. After the great success of the sixth song competition in Karlsruhe the Wagner's association there has decided to arrange it again in Designated program 1st Day Thursday, 11th of October, 2012 Journey by bus / road till noon / early afternoon in Baden cultural metropolis Karlsruhe. Check-in at the hotel of the desired categy (3*** / 4****) Afterwards encounter with the town as a city tour / town walk. Local architecture and town planning The plans of Baden s margrave Charles William culminated in a sophisticated example of a royal city. Join us on a walk through histy, from the founding of the city in 1715 to Friedrich Weinbrenner s extension of the city axis and today s city, brimming in culture, science and supreme courts. All part of an architectural stroll through the famous "fan-shaped" city.

From the revolution of 1848 to the accomplishments of city planner Friedrich Weinbrenner, no stone is left unturned. Highlights of the guided tour: Market Square (Marktplatz) with the architecture of Weinbrenner and the pyramid, the convention centre, the palace and the palace gardens. A leisurely stroll through the old town of Durlach The histy of Durlach, the ancestral mother of Karlsruhe, goes back many centuries, so there are plenty of sties wth hearing about. Take a leisurely stroll through the old town of Durlach with its picturesque market square, the castle square (Schlossplatz), the Basler Gate and the town walls. With its narrow alleyways and old ruins, Durlach looks back on an eventful histy: its founders (the House of Hohenstaufen), the Middle Age market square and trading centre, the margrave s residence, the town s industrial and social histy. Today, Durlach is the largest district of Karlsruhe with a high standard of living. Afterwards guided tour through a current exhibition State Art Gallery Karlsruhe with maj regional exhibition on the wks of the French artist Camille Cot ( ) This exhibition f the first time extensively appreciates the Œuvre of this imptant painter of scenery and figures in Germany. About 170 paintings, drawings and graphical wks overviews the diversity of his creating from light-coloures open-air studies to lyrical sceneries and largesize scenery sets, from sensitive ptraits to mysterious imaginary figures. Baden State Museum in the castle of Karlsruhe with thematic exhibition Baden! 900 years of regional sties In no region of Germany the regional identity is as lived as in the southwest. Here the Badnerlied is sung with fervour, the Badenese way of life is romantized, one remembers the free traditions of the liberal "Musterländle" and celebrates the heroes of the revolution of 1848/49. But what actually is "Badenese"? The big regional exhibition 2012 of the State Museum gives answers to these questions. On a walk through the histy of the country about 450 objects of the Middle Ages up to the present tell sties from and about Baden.

Full-time excursion: In search of the big gan builder Johann Andreas Silbermann in Alsace with sht gan recital on the occasion of his 300th birthday. Alsace is the province richest in gans of whole France. The Alsatian gan construction with the wk of the gan construction family Silbermann experienced a huge impetus. At the beginning of 18th century Andreas Silbermann from Saxony came to Strasbourg and settled down with a wkshop f gan construction. His son, Johann Andreas became his heir. The gan architecture of the Silbermann family is characterized by elegance, sublimity and balance. The two sole widely authentical Silbermann gans stand in the fmer Benedictine's abbeys to Maursmünster and Ebersmünster. The excursion leads to Strasbourg, Maursmünster and Ebersmünster. Alternatively: Bell-foundry Bachert The bell-foundry Bachert is a bell-foundry steeped in tradition in the Southwest of Germany. Founded in 1745 in Dallau as a pouring hut and wkshop, the family enterprise produced bells and fire hoses. Descendants of the founder later established other locations in Kochendf, Heilbronn and Karlsruhe. Since 2003 the company is again family property with headquarter in Karlsruhe. Ship s bells, chimes and Carillons, bell armatures and suitable equipment also belong to the actual range of products. Meover, the enterprise restes histical bells. Bachert bells are located in numerous histically imptant churches, as f example in the Frauenkirche in Dresden. and / ZKM Karlsruhe As a cultural institution, the Center f Art and Media (ZKM) in Karlsruhe holds a unique position in the wld. It responds to the rapid developments in infmation technology and today's changing social structures. Its wk combines production and research, exhibitions and events, codination and documentation. The Center f Art and Media probes new media in they and practice, tests their potential with in-house developments, presents possible uses in exemplary fm and promotes debate on the fm our infmation society is taking.

Here the last Grand Dukes and Grand Duchesses of Baden were laid to rest. Originally the mausoleum was established by der of Baden Grand Duke Friedrich I and his spouse, the Grand Duchess Luise von Preussen. They wanted their son late in 1888 to rest undirsturbed in the seclusion of the fest peace.
