On behalf of the members of OB-PS Japan I sincerely welcome participants from all over the world to the OB-PS Event 2018 in Tokyo. We are very much looking forward to your visit! Under the influence of global warming, the weather has been very unpredictable in Japan in recent years. However, in April of Tokyo every year, the cherry blossoms, the national flower are always in full bloom and harmonise with the fresh verdure. A very beautiful sight will welcome you. OB-PS was founded to provide vital financial support for the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), in order to fulfill their mission to enable girls and young women to develop their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world To support this vision and invest in the future of girls and young women, we decided the theme of this 2018 event should be Invest in Her Future. Throughout this event, I hope each one of us will think carefully about what investing in girls futures means, and how we can help, as well as discuss actively how to fulfill the goals and our mission. Michiko served as Chair of the Training Committee between , before becoming the Girl Scouts of Japan s International Commissioner in May 2017, Michiko took over as the National Commissioner of the Girl Scouts of Japan. Speaker: Mr. Freddy Svane, (the Danish Ambassador to Japan) Mr. Freddy Svane, the Danish Ambassador to Japan Freddy Svane graduated from the University of Copenhagen with a degree in History in He entered the Danish Foreign service shortly afterwards. Participants are therefore requested to change their currency at the Airport for your convenience. TIME ZONE Japan Standard Time is UTC+9 throughout the year. CLOTHING Early spring in Japan is usually pleasant but evenings can be chilly and you may require a heavy coat. We recommend that you bring a jacket or cardigan for wear when leaving the hotel. The Dress Code for the day programme will be smart casual or uniform, but the presentation ceremony and gala dinner will be smart. Alternatively, you may wear national dress.
