5 ISLANDS OF HISTORY, BEAUTY & CULTURE AOMORI In the north of Japan s main island of Honshu lies Aomori, home to dramatic volcanic mountains and the famous Nebuta summer festival. HOKKAIDO Japan s most northern island is home to the dazzling Shiretoko Peninsula, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Cruise Wonders of the World. SHIKOKU The smallest and least populated of Japan s main islands boasts delicious udon noodle dishes, white water rafting, temples and castles, ports like Kochi and beautiful scenic cruising in the Japan Inland Sea.
