5 EASTERN SICILY TOURS FOR GROUPS DAY 1: CATANIA Arrival in Catania. Check into hotel. Balance of day at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay. DAY 2: ETNA - TAORMINA Following a continental breakfast at the hotel, we will board a coach and depart for Etna, Europe s best known volcano. Here, you will then have the chance to do some sightseeing around the volcano. You might want to attempt the 3000 meter guide-assisted climb. Lunch on your own. In the afternoon, you will meet our driver-guide for an excursion to Taormina where you can admire the Greek-Roman Theatre, offering a view of rare beauty off the coast. Enjoy time at leisure for shopping or walking through the tiny streets. In the evening, return to the hotel and overnight stay. D A Y 3 : S Y R A C U S E - N O T O - MARZAMEMI Following a continental breakfast at the hotel, we will travel to Syracuse by coch. Syracuse was founded by colonists from Cornith in 735 B.C. and once the most important competitor to Athens. Upon arrival you will go sightseeing on the island of Ortygia which boasts several historical landmarks, the Cathedral, ancient ruins, the Fonte Aretusa, crafts shops and boutiques. DAY 4: MARZAMEMI - PORTOPALO DI CAPO PASSERO - VENDICARI Following a continental breakfast at the B&B, we will visit Marzamemi, a small fishing village, a pearl of Eastern Sicily, with the picturesque Piazza Regina Margherita and the ancient tonnara (tuna processing factories). We will visit a craft workshop, where they produce the roe of tuna, tuna in oil, salted anchovies using traditional methods. Continuation by bus to Portopalo di Capo Passero, the extreme southern tip of Sicily, where you can bath near the beach of "Isola delle Correnti", a very impressive place where the tides of the two seas, the Ionian Sea and Mediterranean Sea, meet. Lunch on

In the evening, return to the B&B, fish dinner and overnight stay. DAY 5: MODICA Continental breakfast at the B&B, departure for a sightseeing tour with a local guide to Modica. This is an old county near Ragusa, and it is one of mankind s heritages, worldwide known for its tasty chocolate. Here, you will visit the Antica Dolceria Bonajuto, the oldest confectionary shop of Sicily and taste the very famous chocolate of Modica. Furthermore, you will visit St. Peter s Cathedral, St. George Cathedral, and S a l v a t o r e Q u a s i m o d o s h o u s e (S.Quasimodo was one of the most famous Italian poets of the twentieth century, he was honored with the prestigious Nobel Prize in Literature in 1959). In the afternoon time at leisure around the city. Dinner and overnight stay. DAY 6: SCICLI - SAMPIERI - PUNTA SECCA - RAGUSA IBLA After continental breakfast at the hotel, departure to Scicli, it is one of UNESCO s Heritages. Here you will visit the Via Mormino Penna, lined with amazing palazzi, churches and old buildings, and the Palazzo Comunale (Town Hall), where the Police Station scene of Montalbano Fiction have been recorded. Fish lunch at the restaurant. In the afternoon you will proceed your tour in Punta Secca, known as marinella, themontalbano house, and in Ragusa Ibla, known as Vigata city in the Camilleri s Fiction. Ibla, in glaring contrast to the modern city, is one of the best-preserved old towns in Sicily. The landscapes around Ragusa are among the most memorable in Sicily. Here you can admire St. George Cathedral with its gorgeous square (this place inspired several movies, apart from Montalbano, such as Divorzio all italiana ). Dinner in a typical Sicilian farm and overnight stay. DAY 7: DEPARTURE After breakfast at the hotel, you have time for shopping; afterwards transfer to Catania Airport and departure. 7 SHORT TOUR OF EASTERN SICILY DAY 1: SYRACUSE - NOTO Syracuse is the most beautiful and great Greek colony in Sicily. It s famous Archaeological Park will leave you breathless with its Greek Theatre, the Roman Amphitheatre, the Latomie of Paradise and the Dyonisios Ear. If Syracuse can be defined as a treasure chest, Ortigia is a jewel in it! The beautiful island is home to the white Cathedral and the Arethusa Fountain. You will be stunned by this small medieval village where you will enjoy a breathtaking view of both the Etna mountain and the see. DAY 4: RIVIERA DEI CICLOPI Last day of our tour dedicated to visit the Riviera dei Ciclopi famous for its fishing villages Acicastello and Acitrezza which is also known for being the town where Giovanni Verga s novel I Malavoglia is set. The visit to the Etna area ends with Acireale, where the stone buildings and the iron of the balconies marry creating a beautiful baroque decoration. Arrangement: Lunch in a restaurant.

11 THEMED TRAVELS GREEK DRAMA FESTIVAL THEATER SYRACUSE 2017 Syracuse's Greek Theatre was a grand meeting and performance space. Able to fit over 1,500 people, made up of 59 rows and with a spectacular view over the surrounding countryside. The Greek tragedies were a particular highlight and became a social focal point for the community. The myths, tragedies, comedies and legends of Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides's plays have thankfully been revived (since 1914) and today the Greek Theatre Festival, running from mid-may to the start of July, has become one of the most famous and visited attractions in Sicily. Theatre lovers and tourists from around the world plan holidays to Sicily especially to enjoy watching one of these ancient plays as the sun goes down - just as they would have done thousands of years ago. The 'National Institute of Ancient Drama will represent the 53rd cycle of Classical Representations at the Greek Theatre 2017, in this cicle will be represented "Seven Against Thebes" by Aeschylus, "The Phoenician" by Euripides, and the comedy "The Frogs" by Aristophanes ".

The territory also produces such sought after items as Pachino tomatoes IGP, Pachino melons IGP, Monti Iblei extra virgin olive oil and the less known but equally wonderful Violetto artichokes and carrots of Ispica, And not forgetting the almonds of Avola (frequenting the fabulous local sweets or dolci) and potatoes and lemons of Siracusa. The Noto wine route winds its way through these main agricultural areas and do look out the fine ricotta and Caciocavallo Ragusano cheeses to accompany your wine tasting vacation. The coastal waters have been fished for thousands of years and tuna, smoked swordfish should not be neglected; the best are tried near Marzamemi.

May THE INFIORATA FLOWER FESTIVAL IN NOTO: The Infiorata flower festival is certainly the most important event yearly organized in Noto, one of UNESCO s Heritages, worldwide known for the Baroque. The Infiorata takes place during the third week-end of May. It's like a festival of spring to celebrate the best period to visit Sicily, when the countryside is green and filled with flowers before the hot summer months. The central point of the Infiorata festival is via Nicolaci in the town centre of Noto. The little town of Noto is located southerly from Syracuse and is in the Unesco world heritage list for its elegant baroque buildings. Every year a new theme is choosen for the Infiorata. The artists start their working on Friday evening. Via Nicolaci is divided in parts and the flower-masters draw the draft of their works on the road. The works are completed with thousand of flower petals. On Saturday morning the Infiorata is finished and via Nicolaci appears as a long and colorful flower carpet. There are also a lot of other events organized in Noto during these days like a baroque historical parade, exhibitions, food and wine tastings, guided tours, music concerts and much more. Every year, during the Infiorata, Noto is crowded with visitors from all over the world.
