1 Events Schedule 2015 region Marche La regione Marche è pronta ad accogliervi con numerosi eventi in vista dell arrivo dell estate The Marche region is ready to welcome you with a number of scheduled events ranging from culture to cuisine, from consolidated appointments with opera to great multidisciplinary festivals Thanks to an efficient railway network and the high-speed train "Freccia Bianca", The Marche is an easily accessible region: from Expo Milano 2015, it just takes 3 hours. 2 GREAT FESTIVALS Title: TAU Teatri Antichi Uniti Province: different seats in the Provinces of Marche Date: until 12 th August 2015 There come,s for the seventeenth consecutive year, the summer appointment with TAU/Ancient Theatres Unites: a regional exhibition of classical theatre in a pleasant and functional conjugation of cultural heritage and activities offering the opportunity to enjoy sites of archaeological interest through shows, by the joint commitment of municipalities, Region, AMAT and Superintendency. The 2015 edition -from 27 th June to 12 th August- presents eighteen appointments of theatre for children and adults, housed in picturesque places of great interest: the Roman Theatre of Ascoli Piceno, the Archaeological Area in Santa Maria Portuno of Corinaldo, the Roman Theatre in Falerone, the Roman Theatre Helvia Recina of Macerata, the Archaeological Area La Cuma in Monte Rinaldo, the Town Hall of Osimo, Rocca Costanza in Pesaro, the Roman Baths in San Severino Marche and the Roman amphitheater of Urbisaglia. To enrich the exhibition before some shows different AperiTAU are offered to the public: sips and history walks, free guided tours to archaeological sites and other places of great cultural interest accompanied by a toast. info event: AMAT tel: tel: APERITAU MUSICAL EVENTS Title: MU.N Music in Notes in Pesaro Town: Pesaro Province: Pesaro-Urbino Date: until 4 th August 2015 From June 30 to August 4 it takes place in Pesaro the first edition of MU.N - Music Notes in Pesaro-, festival of classical music organized by the Municipality of Pesaro in collaboration with AMAT and with the support of Alexander Museum Palace Hotel. The program consists of six musical events ranging from the eighteenth century to the present day, every week in the picturesque setting of the Church of the Annunciation. 4 Title: Festival Armonie della Sera (Evening Harmonies), XI edition Province: different seats in the Provinces of Marche Date: until 15 th August 2015 The eleventh edition of The Evening Harmonies seals the prestigious festival of chamber music born in the small village of Ponzano di Fermo and later extended to the most beautiful and representative places of Marche. 5 APPOINTMENT WITH DANCE Title: Civitanova Danza, XXII edition Town: Civitanova Marche Date: until 8 th August 2015 Civitanova Dance is the first dance review of Marche and it is one of the few in Italy to propose the different expressions of modern dance in different countries of the world. 8 THE GREAT FESTIVALS Title: XIV edition Summer Jamboree Town: Senigallia Province: Ancona Date: 1 st to 9 th August 2015 It is a Festival of American music and culture of the '40s and '50s with live performances of DJ sets swing, rock'n'roll, jive, doo-wop, rhythm and blues, hill-billy and western swing. The stands sell modern antiques: juke boxes, hats, gadgets, pictures, guitars, country items, vinyl records, CDs and anything related to the culture of those years. 9 Title: XXVIII Biennale Internazionale dell umorismo nell arte (28th International Biennial Festival of Humor in Art) Town: Tolentino (Rancia Castle) Date: 27 th August to 27 th September 2015 Contemporary art and culture and a sense of humour don't always go together, but the two meet up in Tolentino for the prestigious 28th International Biennale of Humour in Art, a nationwide cultural offer which sees the participation of the great protagonists of contemporary culture. 10 Title: Sinfonie di Cinema (Symphonies of Cinema) Town: Montefiore dell Aso Province: Ascoli Piceno Date: 09 th to 13 th August 2015 In Montefiore dell'aso, organized by the Town Council, the new edition of the Festival Symphonies of Cinema, dedicated to culture lovers. TASTE KM.0 Appointments with Taste Title: National Festival of Maccheroncini di Campofilone Town: Campofilone Date: 7 th to 10 th August 2015 Campofilone is the protagonist of the National Festival of the Maccheroncini (a kind of pasta), the most typical dish of the area prepared with the best durum wheat and eggs; a recipe that has been handed down from mothers to daughters. 11 Title: Festa del Verdicchio Town: Staffolo Province: Ancona Date: 20 th to 23 rd August 2015 The historical centre of Staffolo will host an event in which Verdicchio wine, a local specialty, will be the star. It s the main event in the town of Pedaso and features food stands, live music and entertainment. 12 Title: Tipicità EXPerience - Gran Tour of the Marche Ascoliva Festival Town: Ascoli Piceno Province: Ascoli Piceno Date: 9 th to 17 th August 2015 The city of travertine is transformed into the capital of the tenera ascolana del Piceno DOP olive. In the lovely setting of Piazza Arringo, the Olive Village will host local producers of the local delicacy alongside cultural, food and wine events, music and conferences about the special characteristics of one of Italy s best known product. Aside from the renowned olive all ascolana, the stands will also feature traditional local specialties to make the event a full immersion experience into the cuisine of Ascoli Piceno. info event: Title: 40 Festival of the Olive all Ascolana (Olive Fried The Ascoli way) Town: Monteprandone Province: Ascoli Piceno Date: 5 th to 9 th August 2015 Back this year in Monteprandone the traditional summer Festival of the Olive Fried the Ascoli way. The event is now in its 40th edition and it always attracts the attention of many wine enthusiasts and tourists, including foreigners, who want to taste the typical products of the Piceno territory. In addition to olives, visitors can taste the wines of the cellars of Montaprandone or raw beer, all enlivened by live music, entertainment and animation for children. info event: Associazione Pro Loco Monteprandone tel: Title: ANIS - Festival of the Green Anis of Castignano Town: Castignano Province: Ascoli Piceno Date: 31 st July, 1 st and 2 nd August 2015 Castignano is a small village of the Piceno area in the Marche, where the anise has particular organoleptic qualities and an amount of anethole higher to that produced in other areas. 13 Titolo: Feast of the Crescia Fogliata Town: Fiuminata Date: 1 st week of August In the high Potenza Valley, in the hamlet of Pontile, it is organized a gastronomic event celebrating a traditional sweet of the Marche food culture: the Crescia Fogliata also called "lu rocciu". It derived, perhaps, from the verb arrocciare, meaning to wrap the dough around the filling made of seasonal fruits like apples, figs, walnuts, hazelnuts or almonds, spices and aromas: vanilla, cinnamon, anise, lemon zest, rum. Possibility of excursions and outdoor sports. tel: Title: : Vino Cotto Festival Town: Loro Piceno Date: 20 th to 23 rd August 2015 The ancient village of Loro Piceno has for many years organized an event celebrating the Vin Cotto (cooked wine), a product of ancient tradition. Cooked wine tells the story of the territories of Fermo, Ascoli Piceno and Macerata: the territories of "southern Marche". This is a product able to merge in a charming set of flavors, the environment, the vines, the history, the tradition and the culture of our land. The production is still strongly linked to tradition, handed down from father to son over the centuries. This is a typical product of the territory and it is strongly linked to the environment (soil, climate, etc.) with a production technique passed down from father to son, for generations. 14 Title: Food and Wine Market Town: Fiuminata Date: 12 th to 19 th August 2015 Tourists and visitors can enjoy the best market of regional food and wine products in the high "Val Potenza" (Potenza valley, a nice tourist and landscape resort. info event: prolocofiuminata@gmail.com Title: Truffle Festival Town: Muccia Date: 19 th to 20 th August 2015 In the enchanting and beautiful mountain hamlet of Massprofoglio of Muccia, in an area where more than 2,000 hectares are planted with natural and artificial truffle, the black truffle said "Scorzone" (scientific name: Tuber aestivum Vitt.) is well cultivated. Its characteristic is a rough and warty external skin and an inner portion (the flesh or gleba) that tends to dark yellow. 15 ROLLING HILLS AND ANCIENT VILLAGES Discovering the glories of the past Title: Palio del Duca - Sponsalia Town: Acquaviva Picena Province: Ascoli Piceno Date: 6 th, 7 th and 8 th August 2015 This event is a historical re-enactment of the wedding celebrated in the year 1234 between Forastéria, the daughter of Rinaldo degli Acquaviva known as "Grosso" and Rainaldo dei Brunforte, the son of Bonconte, grandson of Fidesmino di Brunforte, Sir of Sarnano and the deputy of Federico II. The modern version of the event takes place every first Friday of August, and on the preceding Thursday and following Sunday there are jousts, games, shows, dinners, dancing and music. Thursday is reserved for the Blessing of the Mantle and the Impalmazione; on Friday the wedding is celebrated followed by the Palio and the celebrations end on Sunday with a medieval banquet and the burning of the Fortress. Acquaviva is a medieval town surrounded by walls and ramparts, just 7 kilometers from the Riviera della Palme. It has a military architecture masterpiece of Renaissance, that is a medieval fortress which majestically imposes itself to visitors. 16 Title: The Court of Queen Giovanna Town: Arquata del Tronto Province: Ascoli Piceno Date: 19 th August 2015 In the frame of the old town of Arquata, on 19 th August of each year, the "Descent of Queen Giovanna" is celebrated: a historical re-enactment in which it is recalled the presence of the Queen of the Kingdom of Naples, Giovanna d'angiò, in the fifteenth century. The Lady of the castle, in fact, seems to have stayed in the fortress for 15 years ( ). The participants, wearing faithful medieval costumes, descend from the fortress to the village to take part to a lavish banquet enlivened by dances and street games. The procession, composed by the Queen, soldiers, archers, page boys, ladies, flag jesters and shepherds, is also accompanied by the roll of drums, topped by the sound of medieval trumpets recreating an impressive atmosphere capable, for one night, to bring us 1000 years back. info event: Pro Loco tel: Title: XXXIV Duke Festival-Renaissance Curtains Town: Urbino Province: Pesaro-Urbino Date: 14 th 15 th 16 th August 2015 Urbino and its monumental part (the area of the Dom and the Ducal Palace) go dating back to the Renaissance period, enlivened by the trades and the attractions of the past: from the blacksmith to the leather worker, from the miniaturists to the hitter of coin for the occasion the Picciolo, the only coin ever forged in Urbino, will be done. The heart of the festival is represented by parades and reenactments. 17 Title: Chivalry Tournament Castel Clementino Town: Servigliano Province: Fermo Date: 15 th and 16 th August 2015 During the Chivalry Tournament Castel Clementino, the city of Servigliano is enlivened by processions, exhibitions of banners and musicians, and re-enactments of historical games among various districts of the town. The procession is made up of 300 men, women and children all dressed in medieval garments and offers a fascinating look on the history of Italian clothing. The stupendous outfits made by local tailors are faithful reproductions of those featured in paintings by the great masters of the past: Crivelli, Ghirlandaio and others. After the procession and the flag throwers, the Tournament of the Ring begins, pitting the knights of the various rioni against one another. 18 Title: Templaria Festival Town: Castignano Province: Ascoli Piceno Date: 16 th to 19 th August 2015 Templaria Festival is a re-enactment of medieval life with theatre, music, exhibits and conferences, but also banquets, taverns serving medieval fare and craftsmen s shops. Walking down the streets of the historical centre during the festival, one goes back into the past times of the Knights Templar and the many lovely sensations of the town are heightened. info event: Pro Loco di Castignano tel: info@templaria.it Title: Cavalcata dell Assunta (Ride of the Assumption) Town: Fermo Province: Fermo Date: 13 th August 2015 A race on horseback galloping along the sea route between Contradas (city quarters) to win the Palio is part of the events with which, starting from 1182, the patron Saint Mary assumed into Heaven is honored in Fermo, with the historic parade of the Cavalcata (Ride). a rich parade of 650 crowd-people of the town Courts and of the 10 contradas frames the spectacular race of the barbers. 19 Title: Contesa dello Stivale Town: Filottrano Province: Ancona Date: 2 nd to 5 th August 2015 The Società dello Stivale (or the Society of the Boot) was constituted on 21 st September It is a cultural association whose purpose is to organize the celebration of this popular feast-cum-joust. This reenactment aims to recall episodes from the history of the town and the locals, using medieval garments to recreate the atmosphere of times past as they celebrate and compete in the name of their contrada (Marina, Monti, Montoro, San Biagio, Stimmate, Storaco and Torre). info event: tourist info: City of Filottrano tel: Title: Fest of the Covo of Campocavallo Town: Campocavallo di Osimo Province: Ancona The Festa del Covo (or Festa del Cóu, as the locals call it) is an event with religious connotations which takes place every year in Campocavallo di Osimo on the first Sunday of August. 21 CULTURE Title: : Luca di Paolo and the Renaissance in Marche Town: Apiro Date: 6 th August - 1 st November 2015 For the first time in Matelica, an exhibition dedicated to Luca di Paolo, one of the protagonists of the Renaissance in the Marche region of which, thanks to new studies, we can reconstruct the history of art and biography. The exhibition curated by Alessandro Delpriori is sponsored by the Museum Piersanti and the City of Matelica and is organized by Civita. The collection will be displayed in the splendid rooms of Palazzo Piersanti along with works of his contemporaries, in order to present to the public and to scholars the path of one of the most extravagant interpreters of the fifteenth century in the Marche. The exhibition boasts of important loans from major state museums of Italy and also from Italian and foreign private collections.
