Children 4-12 years old can experience 12 destinations. At each destination, Aloha Passports are stamped with a Hawaiian word and the child receives a gift or memento of their visit to Maui. Infants to 3- year-olds receive a passport card with their personalized Hawaiian name and a sand pail full of goodies. If parents need a break from all the fun, the hotel s Guest Services can arrange for babysitting or participation in one of the resort s recreation programs. Whale-shaped swimming pool open from 8:00 a.m. 8:00 p.m. daily. Snorkel lessons are available in the pool. Stand-up paddle board lessons are available by reservation. Hale Huakaʻi, the beach activity center located on property, offers rentals including snorkel equipment, boogie boards, stand-up paddle boards, beach chairs, umbrellas, and beach cabanas. 5 KĀ ANAPALI BEACH RESORT Kā anapali Beach Hotel is situated in the heart of the Kā anapali Beach Resort. The resort overflows with options for outdoor recreation enthusiasts. Golf: Exercise Facilities: Tennis: Sun & Sand: Ocean Activities: Shopping: The Kā anapali Golf Courses feature two championship golf courses designed by Robert Trent Jones (Tournament North) and Arthur Jack Snyder (Resort South). Green fees include a shared cart. Also available: driving range, putting green, club storage, top-of-the-line golf equipment, club and shoe rentals, and apparel for men and women. Free transportation is available on Kā anapali Resort shuttle. Detailed information on other Maui golf courses is available. Exercise facilities (free weights and treadmills) are available in the Kā anapali Resort. Access fees: approximately $20.00 per person, per day or $65.00 per person, per week. Expanded services are available at a local gym located in the Fairway Shops above the golf course along Honoapi ilani Highway. Discounts are offered to hotel guests presenting their room key at the membership desk. There are 35 professional tennis courts and a tennis stadium at six locations in the Kā anapali Resort area. Guests may contact Guest Services for price details and reservations. The beautiful golden sand of Kā anapali Beach is a natural focal point for fun and relaxation while on Maui. Whale watching from approximately December through April. Boating, diving, fishing, swimming, snorkeling, windsurfing and surfing year round. Parasailing, and water skiing are available May 15 to December 15. Set beachfront in the center of the resort, the Whalers Village Shopping Center & Museum offers over 60 fine shops and restaurants. Open from 9:30 a.m.-10:00 p.m., seven days a week, Whalers Village is a shopper s paradise featuring Maui s best assortment of art galleries, quality fashion, jewelry, and dining. Whalers Village is also home to a museum featuring the history of whaling in Hawai i. Whalers Village is just a short stroll down the beach walkway from Kā anapali Beach Hotel. 6 LĀHAINĀ TOWN History: Shopping: Lāhainā Cannery Mall: The Outlets of Maui: Favored by Hawai i s royalty for its climate, location, and surfing, Lāhainā Town was once home to Kamehameha III and was the royal capitol of the Hawaiian Islands. In the early 1800 s, Lāhainā became a major stopping place for the whaling ships of the Pacific. Soon after, missionaries from America began settling in the town. It did not take long for the staid missionaries and rambunctious seamen to engage in a long-running dispute that occasionally erupted into physical confrontations. Peace finally came when the whaling era ended. For many years thereafter, the prime sources of employment for Lāhainā s people were the sugar and pineapple plantations. All of that changed, of course, with the rise of the visitor industry, which brought about the revitalization of Lāhainā. The town is a windfall for sightseers, history buffs, art enthusiasts, ocean explorers, shoppers, and fun-seekers in general. Just three miles south of the resort, Lāhainā Town is home to some of the finest eateries, art galleries, and shopping in the Pacific. Built on the water s edge, the town has several sites and artifacts from its royal Hawaiian past, its whaling and missionary era, and its days as a multi-ethnic plantation town. Attractions include movie theaters, traditional Hawaiian entertainment, unique theatrical productions, and nightclubs. At the north end of Lāhainā sits Lāhainā Cannery Mall. Once a working pineapple cannery, it has been tastefully converted into a contemporary shopping mall featuring more than 50 boutique retail stores and restaurants. As Maui s only fully enclosed, air-conditioned mall, it is a popular place for shopping, dining and enjoying Hawaiian entertainment. Anchor stores are Safeway and Long s Drugs. Free parking and convenient shuttle service are available. Mall hours are 9:30 a.m.-9:00 p.m. Located on the corner of Front Street and Papalāuā Street in Lāhainā Town, The Outlets of Maui is Maui s first and only outlet center. 7 TRANSPORTATION Domestic Airlines: Airport Transportation: Maui is served by two airports, Kahului Airport (OGG) is twenty-five miles from Kā anapali Beach Hotel. Located four miles to the north is the Kapalua West Maui Airport (JHM), which is limited to inter-island passengers. From Kahului Airport, via taxi: approximately $85. Shuttle services available. We suggest Speedi Shuttle; call or go to for current prices and schedules. From Kapalua Airport, via taxi: approximately $20. Rental Cars: Resort Transportation: Taxi Service: Rental cars from multiple companies are available at both airports. From 9:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m., the Kā anapali Resort trolley provides free transportation for resort guests between all of the resort hotels and condominiums, the golf courses, and Whalers Village Shopping Center. From approximately 6:00 a.m.- 9:00 p.m., the Maui Bus provides transportation from the Kā anapali Resort area to the Lāhainā Cannery Mall and Lāhainā Town. The current one-way charge is $2.00 per person (subject to change). Day passes are available at $4.00 per person (subject to change). Pick-up location is at the Whalers Village Shopping Center.
