We recommend your confirmation as early as possible. October 27, 2011 (Thu): Arrive Siem Reap Flight details to be advised Flight arrives into Siem Reap. On your arrival, please look out for a representative who will be holding a sign with your group name on it and will then assist you with your visa and ensure that you pass through Immigration as quickly as possible. Please ensure that you have a passport photo with you and have completed your visa application form on the flight in order to ensure that this process is as quick and efficient as possible. Once you have passed through Customs and Immigration, you will be welcomed by our tour guide and Khmer ladies dressed in dressed in Royal Khmer attire from the Angkor Civilization. The ladies will present you with jasmine flowers. Then transfer you to the La Residence Angkor Hotel, where you will check into a Royal Deluxe Room Riverside Room for a three-night stay. Check in time: 14:00 hrs. Early check in is subject to availability. Unpack and remainder of the day is free at leisure to observe your new surrounding. Accommodation: La Residence Angkor Hotel / Royal Deluxe Room Riverside October 28, 2011 (Fri): Siem Reap 05:00 hrs 07:00 hrs: Optional sunrise at Angkor Wat - Break of dawn at Angkor Wat Wake up at 04:45 am to catch the sunrise at Angkor Wat. 07:00-08:00 hrs: Enjoy breakfast at hotel restaurant 08:30 09:30 hrs: Visit Angkor National Museum and attend a lecture by Cambodian Archaeologist Mr. Cham Roeun to enhance your knowledge of Khmer history and culture and archaeology. Mr. Cham Roeun has over 11 years in archaeology. He has been working for World Monuments Fun on projects including Angkor Wat Temple. He is also a lecturer at Faculty of Archaeology at The Royal University of Phnom Penh. 09:45 hrs: Depart the hotel to visit the Angkor Wat Temple, which is the largest religious buildings ever constructed and is truly one of the wonders of the world. Believed to have been undertaken as a temple and mausoleum for King Suryavarman II at the peak of the Khmer empire in the first half of the 12th century, Angkor Wat is the best-preserved of the Angkorian temples. You will have the chance to get the overview of Angkor Wat entertained by the landmine handicapped playing Khmer Traditional instruments with free flows of water, local beers, soft drinks and snack. 12:30 hrs: Enjoy lunch at Viroth s Restaurant (meal only, no drinks/water) - this contemporary restaurant offers finely prepared Khmer cuisine with a modern twist, served in a stylish terrace garden setting. 3 14:00 hrs: Drive to visit the South Gate, flanked by demons and gods engaged in a tug of war to obtain the elixir of immortality. Take the electric cart to the Bayon, a temple mountain built by Jayavarman VII. It is situated in the center of the city of Angkor Thom. It is a three-tiered pyramid with its entrance facing east. You also visit other important sites in this immense walled city, including the pyramid of Baphuon, Phimean Akas, and the royal viewing stands known as the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King. 17:00 hrs: Take 10-minute tethered helium balloon (weather permits), which rises 200 meters for an amazing aerial view of the temple and jungles. 18:00 hrs: Drive back to hotel for freshen up. 19:15 hrs: Enjoy 45 minutes Cocktail reception at John McDermott gallery American photographer John McDermott is known for his atmospheric and classic images of the Angkor temple complex. Accommodation: La Residence Angkor Hotel / Royal Deluxe Room Riverside October 29, 2011 (Fri): Siem Reap Biking (40 km biking) After breakfast, shuttle out of town and hop on your bike riding to the jewel of Khmer art, Banteay Srei temple. Its red sand-stone walls are decorated with elaborate carvings and in an amazing state of preservation. Followed by cycling to Eastern Mebon past local villages where you can see daily activities such as making sugar palm. Afterwards, continue cycling to Preah Khan, the name of the sacred sword that safeguards Cambodia. Originally a Buddhist monastery and school, this was dedicated to Jayavarman VII's father. Now overgrown with giant trees and other vegetation. Have a packed lunch along the way before cycling to Ta Prohm, a jungle-clad temple with overgrown trees, giving a haunting and exotic atmosphere. The magnificent roots of a tree push itself between the temple s huge stone blocks in an embrace, emphasizing the lost city feel. Upon arrival at Ta Prohm, the school children will line up with the flags of the group with Angkor Wat guide book on their hands to present as a gift for the clients and the clients will be given away notebook and school materials. This temple was a monastery built by Jayavarman VII as a residence for his mother. Cycle back to the hotel.
