2 DAY 1: SIEM REAP ARRIVAL (-/-/-) Upon arrival at Siem Reap International Airport, warmly welcome from our representative and transfer to hotel for check in. Siem Reap province is located in northwest Cambodia. It is the major tourist hub in Cambodia, the closest city to famous temples of Angkor. ( Angkor temple complex north of the city). Afternoon, visit Artisans Angkor Workshop. Artisans Angkor is a semi-public and social Cambodian company that was originally created to help young rural people find work near their home village. As the offshoot of an educational project called Chantiers-Ecoles de Formation Professionnelle, aiming at providing professional skills to communities with little schooling, Artisans Angkor has maintained its actions in education by developing its own training program in the handicraft sector. It offers an interesting local ambiance, this gallery specialty shops offer generally higher quality items and a more sophisticated selection of handmade products. Tonle Sap Lake Floating Village. This freshwater lake, a distrubutary of the Mekong river reverses direction in every 6 months to flood the margins of lake and surrounding forest, providing a full spectrum of huge natural paddy field and a safe fishing hatchery, a sceneric view of the Khmer Lifestyles. Next, we will take a walk at Made In Cambodia Market located at King s Road (near Old Market). Welcome dinner will begin around 6.30pm. The Apsara dance is one of the myths in Cambodia about the coming together of Mera, a dancer and Kambu, a wise man. The hand gestures are a significant part of the story, with each hand gesture signifying something different. 3 WELCOME TO MILLENNIUM OLD RUINS OF THE KHMER EMPIRE DAY 2: ANGKOR ARCHAELOGICAL PARK (B/L/-) Angkor, is one of the most important archaeological sites in Southeast Asia. It extends over approximately 500 square kilometers and contains many temples, hydraulic structures (dykes, basins, canals, reservoirs) as well as communication routes. For several centuries, Angkor, was the center of the Khmer Kingdom.Temples like Angkor Wat, Bayon, Preah Khan and Ta Prohm, are exemplars of Khmer architecture, closely linked to their geographical context as well as being imbued with symbolic significance. In the morning, visit Angkor Wat. It was built in the first half of the 12th century (113-5BC). Estimated construction time of the temple is around 30 years by King Suryavarman II, dedicated to Vishnu (Hindu), replica of Angkor Thom style of art, known as one of biggest religious temple and one of the Wonders of the World. Climbing up on the top give you a magnificent landscape view in panorama of Angkor City. After lunch, continue our tour to Royal Enclosure -Angkor Thom, the last capital of Khmer Empire, a fortified city enclosing residences of priest, officials of the palace and military, as well as buildings for administration of the kingdom. Visit Bayon. Discovery the epic stories crafted on the walls of The Terrace of The Elephant / Leper King before we proceed to explore the jungle temple of Ta Prohm. Before we end our temples tour, make a visit to Phnom Bakheng for its beautiful sunset. Enter and leave Phnom Bakheng by climbing a long steep path with some steps on the east side of the monument (67m). *depending on your preference, you may request for sunrise, sunset or both subjected to weather condition on the day of tour. 4 DAY 3: KULEN MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK (B/L/-) After breakfast, we begin a journey to Kulen Mountain National Park, known as Phnom Kulen by the locals, is the mountain on which King Javarman II initiated the royal "god of the king's linga cult in 802 AD, declaring a unified and independent Khmer Empire under a single ruler and beginning what would later become known as the Angkor period. We will have a quick stop to visit a local market The site is known for its carvings representing fertility and its waters hold special significance to the people of Cambodia until present. Just a few inches under the surface of the water, over 1000 carvings of Yoni and Linga are etched into the sandstone riverbed. The waters are regarded as holy, given the sacred carvings which also include a stone representation of the Hindu god Vishnu lying on his serpent Ananta, with his wife Lakshmi at his feet. A lotus flower protrudes from Vishnu's navel bearing the god Brahma. The river then ends with a beautiful waterfall, regarded highly by Cambodian people as a sacred location as well as great tour destination. Lunch will be arranged ( picnic ) After lunch, we will travel back to Siem Reap Town, if time allowed, we will visit a silk farm or handy craft workshop or one of the orphanage stead home before ending the tour and back to hotel. ** an hour of complimentary body or foot massage will be arranged after your dinner, Khmer Relief Spa Khmer Relief Spa therapists, the majority of who have been selected from a poor village in difference part of Cambodia, have been trained by our in -house professional, provide a varied array of massage, pampering facials and invigorating body treatments. 5 DAY 4: SIEM REAP BATTAMBANG CITY (B/-/D) After breakfast, we will check out and travel to Battambang city. It takes approximately 3 hours but we will stop at Klalanh to visit local market, before heading for lunch at your own expenses at the local restaurant, upon reaching Battambang, check in to hotel. We will rest for awhile before our tour in the afternoon. Battambang has not endless things to offer but still worth to spend around 2 days. The most impressive fact was the kindness of the people of Battambang and its not overcrowded by tourists. Bamboo Train that whizzing along the click-clacking rails is a huge amount of fun. From O Dambong, 3.7km east of Battambang s old French bridge (Wat Kor Bridge), the train bumps 7km southeast to O Sra Lav along warped, misaligned rails and vertiginous bridges left by the French. The journey takes 20 minutes each way, with a 20-minute stop at O Sra Lav in between. Next, we will visit Phnom Sampov Phnom Sampov is a natural and historical site located along National Road 57 about 12km from the provincial town. Atop 100-meter-high mountain stands a pagoda and three natural carves: Pkasla, Lakhaon and Aksopheak. Pkasla cave is full of uprooted stones and is considered important because it is where Phnom Sampov residents come to celebrate after a marriage. Next to the mountain are several important mountain clusters, including Kdaong mountain, Krapeu mountain, Trung Moan mountain, Trung Tear mountain and Neang Romsay Sok. These mountains are related to Khmer folktale titled Reachkol Neang Romsay Sok. On the top of the hill is a Wat and many stupas along with various shrines and grottos. During the Khmer Rouge period the mountain was used as a place to kill "enemies" of the regime and in what are known as the "killing caves" there is a memorial to these victims. Also on the mountain are two rusting artillery pieces which were used by the Cambodian government and their Vietnamese allies in the fight against the Khmer Rouge which ended in Before ending our tour for today, we will stop at the riverside for refreshment then back to hotel for a break then dinner. 6 DAY 5: BATTAMBANG - SIEM REAP (B/-/-) Battambang is the main hub of the Northwest connecting the entire region with Phnom Penh and Thailand, and as such it s a vital link for Cambodia. Battambang city is a peaceful and pleasant place these days. The main parts of the city are situated closed to the Sangker River, a tranquil, small body of water that winds its way through Battambang Province. It is a nice, picturesque setting. As with much of Cambodia, the French architecture is an attractive bonus of the city. After breakfast, check out and visit the city area. One goes by the Centre Culturel Français while the other stretches west is Battambang Museum. Highlights include fine Angkorian lintels and statuary from all over Battambang Province, including Phnom Banan and Sneng. Signs are in Khmer, English and French. Two particularly interesting pieces are a 13th century statue of a Bodhisattva tattooed with a thousand Buddhas, and a well worn depiction of Yama on a buffalo. Located 13km north of Battambang is Wat Ek Phnom, an impressive but extremely dilapidated temple situated next to a large pond and is behind a contemporary 28m high Buddha statue. Built during the 11th century, supposedly in 1029 under the reign of King Sorayak Varman II ( ), today it has been mostly reduced to ruins and visitors have to climb over fallen masonry and huge blocks of stone in order to traverse the grounds. Wat Ek Phnom is a must for anyone visiting the Battambang area as it actually gives you the impression that you are discovering a forgotten temple. Afternoon, we will be travel back to Siem Reap and a quick stop at Banteay Mengchey for refreshment. We will be arriving in Siem Reap by evening and check in to hotel.
