1 2017 CROATIA BY BIKE & BOAT PREMIUM SHIP: SOUTHERN DALMATIA ISLANDS Ex DUBROVNIK with excursion to MOSTAR 8 DAYS / 7 NIGHTS 189 km /118 miles by 21-SPEED BIKE or ELECTRIC BIKE Experience the region of South Dalmatia and DUBROVNIK on this bike and boat tour aboard a premium ship. This sparsely populated part of Croatia has breathtaking natural features and cultural highlights lined up close together. The highlights of the trip are the old walled city of Dubrovnik, a UNESCO World Heritage site with its imposing city wall and narrow alleys. You cycle the islands of Korčula, Mljet, Lastovo and Šipan, and experience the interaction of sea and land, culture and nature at limited space. Another special highlight is the bus excursion to Mostar, widely known by the bridge that was destroyed during the Balkan war, has meanwhile been restored and is today the symbol of peaceful coexistence of different ethnic groups. All cycle tours are optional you can relax on the boat & swim instead, or walk around the port towns.

2 Korcula Hvar Old town ITINERARY Day 1: (Sunday) Dubrovnik Check-in on board starts between 2.00 and 2.30 pm at Gruž, the town port. At around 4.30 pm, a guided walking tour through Dubrovnik is offered, where we learn interesting details of the town s history and visit the most important sites. The boat will stay the night in Dubrovnik s, the port of Gruz is just 3kms from the Old Town - close enough for you head out after dinner and experience the local nightlife. Day 2: (Monday) Islands of Šipan and Mljet (Cycle tours approx.11 km + 23km / miles) This morning we head for Šipan, the largest of the Elaphite Islands. A pleasant cycle trip takes us after breakfast past some sumptuous villas and further on past a fertile valley framed by limestone hills. Afterwards we cruise to the forested island of Mljet - known as the honey island - It is70 % woodland. Homer mentioned this lovely island in his epic poem Odyssey. He made it a home for the Nymph Calypso and the legendary Greek king Odysseus, whom could not resist Calypso and stayed on Mljet for seven years. In the afternoon we explore Mljet National Park by bike, and spend the night in Pomena. Day 3: (Tuesday) Lastovo Island (Cycle tour approx. 28 km/18 miles) Our ship takes us early in the morning to Lastovo Island - one of the smallest inhabited islands in the Adriatic Sea. Close to 1,000 inhabitants still live today mainly from fishing the extremely rich waters, agriculture and viticulture. The gold-coloured white wine Marastina, known even beyond Croatia s borders, is grown here. Our today s cycle tour takes us in a large circle across the beautiful island. Day 4 : (Wednesday) Islands of Korčula and Gradac (cycle tour approx. 20 km/12.5 miles) (+ optional 25 km/16 miles) After crossing over to Korčula Island we bike from Vela Luka to Prigradica, where we meet our ship. We lift the anchor and make our way to the mainland. There is enough time to enjoy a lengthy swim stop on anchor. Our destination is the harbor of Gradac quiet close to the delta of the Neretva River, which is the most important one in the Herzegovina region. Day 5: (Thursday) Excursion to Mostar (non-cycling day) In the morning a bus takes us across the Bosnian border to Mostar. A guided tour familiarizes us with the location and the town s world-famous landmark the bridge across the River Neretva, which was destroyed in 1993 through heavy shelling and reopened in 2004 and is UNESCO protected since. You can stroll through the old town of Mostar which is the National heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina. On our return trip we stop in Počitelj with its well-preserved fortress (or if the weather is very warm and sunny at the Kravica waterfall) before continuing to Gradac. (lunch is not included today)

3 Day 6: (Friday) Korčula Island (Cycle approx. 50 km / 31 miles) A morning cruise takes us to Prigadica at Korčula Island, which is said to be the most beautiful Dalmatian island. We explore the eastern part of the island by bicycle. Our cycle tour takes us from Prigradica to Korčula you will enjoy the views of the deep-blue water of Pupnat bay. This beautiful bay is the favorite scene for photographers on this tour. In the late afternoon, we reach the island s capital Korčula town, which competes with Venice for the honour of being the birthplace of the famous explorer Marco Polo. We have ample time in the evening to wander through the fabulous old town and its narrow lanes laid out in a herringbone pattern. Day 7: (Saturday) Mainland Prapratno Slano Dubrovnik (Cycle tour approx. 30 km /19 miles) A longer crossing on board the boat follows the beautiful coastline of the Pelješac peninsula on your way to the small ferry harbour of Prapratno. The cycle tour takes you from Prapratno to Ston with its famous city wall - This is the longest, intact, fortification wall in Europe and is often compared with the Great Wall of China. The tour takes you further to the small harbour of Slano on the mainland. The boat awaits you here for your last boats cruise to the city of Dubrovnik. A final evening meal on board the boat gives you time to celebrate the success of the week with fellow travellers and tour guides. Day 8: (Sunday) Dubrovnik After breakfast disembark at the port of Gruz by 9 am. Extra nights in a Dubrovnik hotel can be requested. Itinerary changes: The captain reserves the right to make changes to the planned route due to changing wind and weather conditions, and where required by organizational necessities. Sometimes it may be necessary to run the itinerary in reverse due to weather/wind conditions or crowding in harbours. Dubrovnik LEVEL OF FITNESS REQUIRED: Moderate Challenging: It is hilly - cycle tours require a good level of fitness, acquired from steady cycling and long uphill climbs if you wish to use a 21-speed Hybrid bike. Electric bikes will allow anyone of average fitness to manage the hills. The tours will take us up to a height of m above sea-level. We traverse rarely frequented asphalted roads as well as pathways, unpaved or gravel. The day-tours (from 10 to 50 km) will take us through hilly and mountainous terrain and will be completed without any time-constraints. Participants with 21-speed bikes also need to master long and steep climbs these climbs are followed by long downhill runs. Helmet use is mandatory on all cycle tours. You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend time on board the boat, instead of taking a planned cycle-tour.

4 HELMETS: Helmets are compulsory, and must be requested in advance because numbers are limited. You are encouraged to bring your own, well fitted helmet. MEALS ONBOARD: 4 days have full board (3 meals) and 3 days with half board (2 meals/day). Catering begins with Dinner on the first night, and ends with breakfast on day of departure. PRE & POST TOUR HOTELS: Hotel accommodation can be booked in Dubrovnik before and after the tour (price on request), the hotels offered are not in the old city - they are located on the Lapad peninsular, close to the sea, approx. 10 minute taxi ride to the port of Gruz, and 10 minutes to the old city. How to get there: Closest airport is Dubrovnik (30 min) Tour starts & ends in Dubrovnik (Port of Gruz) A taxi from Dubrovnik airport will cost approx for a taxi, or you can catch the public bus from the airport to the central Bus Station, which is close to the harbour (approx 35 Kuna/NZ$9) A private transfer from Dubrovnik Airport to Gruz Harbour can be requested - price on request. To get to Dubrovnik from New Zealand, you may need to fly via Frankfurt in Germany, Switzerland, Rome or London. There are also ferries in the summertime from Italy (Bari). You can book these online with Car Transfer: Dubrovnik- Split, or vice versa price on request If you also would like to take one of our other Croatian cruises from Togir/Split, these usually depart on Saturdays. There is a regular bus service between Dubrovnik & Split town, or you can fly for a reasonable cost to Split Airport, which is very close to the Port of Trogir (6 km by taxi/ 20 Euros).
