MEKONG RIVER EXPEDITION ABOARD THE MEKONG NAVIGATOR 2014/2015 CRUISEMATE

What you need to know before you go. TRAVEL DOCUMENTS Passport: A passport that is valid for at least six (6) months after your return date is required on each of our river cruises. Visas: Vietnam and Cambodia each require a visa. Each guest is fully responsible for obtaining a valid passport, as well as a proper Vietnam visa, prior to departure. Cambodian visas will be obtained upon entry into Cambodia. Please carefully review the section on visas in this pamphlet. Haimark will not be responsible for any delays, damages, and/or losses, including missed portions of your trip, related to improper or absent travel documents. Visa requirements for US and Canadian citizens can be found in the Visa Requirements section of this pamphlet. Non-US, non-canadian citizens must contact the consular office of your home country for the requirements pertaining to their trip. Haimark provides information on visas, as well as contact information for our recommended visa service, as a courtesy only. Passenger Information Form: Included in your confirmation materials is a Haimark Passenger Information Form. Please fully complete this form (one per guest) and return to Haimark Ltd. as directed. This information is needed in order to be fully compliant with certain foreign government and airline security regulations. This information must be received before final documents may be released. Travel Protection: While travel insurance is not required in order to participate in this program, Haimark strongly recommends that each guest purchase a travel protection plan, as unforeseen circumstances can occur both prior to and during travel. Travel insurance is available from a number of sources, and Haimark s recommended travel insurance provider is USI Travel Insurance Services at or (click Travel Insurance Select on the left side of the page under Choose Brand ). Ensure to carry all policy information with you during your cruise. MEKONG NAVIGATOR CRUISEMATE 1

CRUISE DOCUMENTATION Haimark sends all final documents by between 14 and 30 days prior to your trip departure, provided that full payment has been made and the Passenger Information Forms have been fully completed. Final Documentation Includes: Cruise/Tour Ticket Passenger Ticket Contract (which is legally binding between Haimark and each guest) Airline Tickets or E-Ticket Confirmation (if international air ticket was purchased from Haimark) Communication Card Optional Pre-/Post-cruise Land Extension Information (if applicable) LUGGAGE RESTRICTIONS While there are no restrictions on the number of bags each guest may bring on board our ships, storage space is limited, and it is suggested that each guest bring only one checked bag. Additionally, all airlines impose restrictions on both size and weight, and many airlines restrict the number of bags per person. Each guest must check with his or her selected air carrier for limitations prior to departure, as luggage restrictions are subject to change. Guests who exceed an airline s luggage restrictions may be asked by the airline to pay the airline s overweight/ oversized luggage fees. Within Southeast Asia, the checked luggage standard is typically 20 kg (44 lbs) per person (not per bag). One carry-on is allowed per person, in addition to one personal item (purse, camera bag, laptop bag, etc.). Your carry-on should not exceed 17 x 14 x 8 (43 cm x 35 cm x 20 cm) and should not weigh more than 4.5 kg (10 lbs). An airline s limitations on the weight and size of checked luggage, as well as carry-on restrictions are usually found on their website or may be obtained by calling the airline directly. Please remember that international and domestic restrictions may not be the same. Your luggage and all personal belongings are solely your responsibility throughout the trip. Haimark is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged luggage or personal belongings. Selecting a travel insurance plan that will cover lost or stolen luggage and/or personal items is highly recommended. MEKONG NAVIGATOR CRUISEMATE 2

VACCINATIONS At the time of this printing, no vaccinations are required for entering Vietnam or Cambodia, but it is recommended that all guests discuss available vaccinations and any other health concerns they may have with their personal physician or a travel medicine specialist. Guests may also consult the current recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The CDC website is cdc.gov, and the phone number is You may also contact the consulates of the countries to be visited to determine vaccination suggestions and/or requirements. TRAVEL ESSENTIALS The following items are essential for any destination: comfortable walking shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray, hat, umbrella, and lightweight raincoat or outerwear garment appropriate to seasonal weather conditions. It is recommended that you bring duplicates of prescription eyewear, copies of prescriptions for any medications (generic equivalents are usually easier to obtain), copies of credit card information, and copies of your passport information pages and visas. Please use luggage tags on the outside of your bags, and include a copy of your contact information during the trip on the inside of your checked bags, as well. Valuables and medication should only be packed in your carry-on bags (unless required to be placed in checked bags by your airline). HEALTH AND MOBILITY Physical Limitations: The Mekong River cruise is an active program. While there will be plenty of time to relax, there is much to see and do. Many included excursions require an extensive amount of walking, uneven terrain, and numerous steps. Guests with physical limitations will find access to many sites generally restricted. For your safety and enjoyment, we recommend that all guests be in good physical condition. In addition, river ships, while spacious and comfortable, are not in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and do not have elevators. Guests must be able to circulate throughout the vessel and disembark on their own or with minimal assistance. Haimark, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to refuse passage, or to require a current passenger to end his or her trip, if the passenger s state of health or physical condition may affect his/her own health, safety, or enjoyment, or that of other passengers. MEKONG NAVIGATOR CRUISEMATE 3

Medical: While Haimark staff is trained in basic first aid, Haimark does not employ staff nurses or doctors on board our ships, and medical facilities are not always easily accessible during the more rural portions of the cruise. Any medical expenses incurred during the trip are the guest s own responsibility, and Haimark is not responsible for costs of medical service or the quality of medical care received. Guests should bring their medications with them. A travel insurance policy that covers medical expenses while traveling internationally is highly recommended. Special Diets: Please advise us of any special dietary restrictions at least 60 days prior to your departure. This information will be provided to the proper personnel, and to the extent possible within local conditions and limitations, every effort will be made to accommodate your needs. It is the guest s responsibility to provide us with as much detail as necessary concerning any medically related dietary concerns. Not all dietary requests can be accommodated, and we appreciate your understanding in this matter. Getting There AIRPORT SECURITY AND CHECK-IN Please be sure to contact your airline prior to departure and verify there have been no changes to the flight number or schedule found on your travel documents. 7 Airport Arrival Transfers: Guests who have purchased through Haimark a pre-tour land extension program or airport transfer will be greeted at the airport by a Haimark representative and accompanied to the hotel. Upon arrival at your destination airport, you will proceed through immigration, then collect your luggage and exit the secure area through customs, where you will find our representative. If you cannot find the representative, please remain outside the customs area until the representative comes to you. There may be a waiting period of up to one (1) hour for scheduled airport transfers, depending on grouping of flight arrivals. Haimark is not responsible for late arrivals or missed transfers due to delayed, changed, canceled, or missed flights; for missed cruise/ trip days; or for extra costs resulting from delayed, changed, canceled, or missed flights. Flight information and pre-trip arrangements for all guests eligible for airport transfers must be provided to Haimark no later than 45 days prior to departure in order for transfers to be properly arranged. Your flight arrangements must also be made in accordance with Haimark s recommended transfer guidelines. Guests are responsible for providing their most up-to-date flight details. For complete details, please see the Terms and Conditions section in our current brochure or on our website at Airport Departure Transfers: Guests who have purchased an optional post-tour land extension program, or airport transfers through Haimark will be transferred to the airport for your flight home. Flight information and pre-trip arrangements for all guests eligible for airport transfers must be provided to Haimark no later than 45 days prior to departure in order for transfers to be properly arranged. Your flight arrangements must also be made in accordance with Haimark s recommended transfer guidelines. For complete details, please see the Terms and Conditions section in our current brochure or on our website at MEKONG NAVIGATOR CRUISEMATE 6

Late Flight Arrivals/Missed Flights: If you experience a travel delay while you are still within your origin country, and after working with your air carrier to revise your flight schedule, please contact Haimark to advise us of the situation and your new arrival date and time. Haimark s US-based office: (toll free from the US) or central time GMT - 6 hours. While in transit or after business hours, contact us at If you purchased travel insurance that covers flight delay and cancellation expenses, you will also want to contact your travel insurance company to start a claim for any expenses incurred during your delay. Due to government restrictions, if your delay is serious enough that you miss the starting point of your upstream cruise/tour in Ho Chi Minh City, it will be impossible to embark at any other point in Vietnam, and the first available embarkation point will be Phnom Penh. If your delay on a downstream departure is serious enough that you miss the starting point of your cruise/tour in Siem Reap, it may be possible to meet the ship at the next stop. Our local offices will be happy to assist you in making any transfer, hotel, and/or flight arrangements necessary to meet the ship as soon as possible, should you miss the embarkation point in either direction. The cost of any flight, car, or hotel arrangements needed will be at your expense. Should your rescheduled embarkation point be Phnom Penh, the cost of transfers from the airport or hotel to the ship will be at no cost to you. Baggage Delays: Baggage delays unfortunately occur from time to time, especially during peak travel periods. If you discover any bag did not make it to your destination, do not leave the airportbaggage area without completing a Lost Baggage Report with your air carrier. This report is essential to the tracking of your claim. If you have included airport transfers, and are traveling with a companion, we recommend that one person exit the baggage claim area and locate the representative to inform him or her of the situation. This will allow the representative to ensure that the transfer is properly provided. Give the air carrier a copy of your travel itinerary; along with the hotel s (if applicable) and ship s contact information. Report your lost baggage to the Haimark representative, and provide him or her with a copy of your Lost Baggage Report. This will assist our staff in helping to locate your baggage as quickly as possible. Haimark is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged baggage and/or personal belongings. Selecting a travel insurance plan that will cover lost or stolen luggage and/or personal items is highly recommended. MEKONG NAVIGATOR CRUISEMATE 7

PRE- OR POST-CRUISE LAND OPTIONAL HOTEL/LAND EXTENSIONS All Haimark land extension programs include daily breakfast, airport transfers, porterage, and at least one special sightseeing program. Your on-site Haimark representative will provide a briefing during the evening of your first day (or the following morning, in the event of a late arrival) to familiarize you with the scheduled program. Details about your pre- or post-cruise land stay are included with your final documents. HOTEL CHECK-IN/HOTEL CHECK-OUT If you book hotel nights prior to or after your cruise, please be advised that most hotels do not allow check-in earlier than 2:00pm. If you arrive at the hotel before 2:00pm, you may need to wait until the room becomes available. Hotel check-out is usually later than 12:00pm. If your arrival or departure schedule does not coincide with these times, you may ask the hotel to store your baggage while you explore independently. Please note that every effort is made to ensure that your hotel room is available and ready for occupancy upon your arrival at the hotel. This is not always possible due to differences in hotel check-in/ check-out times and scheduled airport-to-hotel or ship-to-hotel transfers. A short wait for your room to become available may be unavoidable. Depending on your scheduled arrival or departure, you may want to purchase an early check-in or late check-out, or an extra hotel night in order to guarantee availability of your room Your Haimark Cruise Program and Onboard Services BOUTIQUE The Mekong Navigator has a boutique on the Sun Deck, offering both local handicrafts from Vietnam and Cambodia and basic traveler needs. MEKONG NAVIGATOR CRUISEMATE 8

CALLING HOME The ability to stay in touch with friends and family is an important part of travel, and many guests choose to bring cell phones on the trip. International roaming charges can be expensive, and it is advisable to contact your local carrier to determine the charges and plans available for each country you are visiting, then select the best available plan for your expected usage. In some countries, SIM cards are available for purchase that can be used in an unlocked phone (call your carrier to determine if your phone is, or can be unlocked), providing a local number that can be used both locally and internationally, usually at a significantly lower rate. Making international calls from most hotels is possible, but very expensive. Many hotels charge connection fees, in addition to other call charges. While each suite onboard the Mekong Navigator is equipped with a phone, it is only an internal ship phone, and cannot be used for calling outside the ship. The Hotel Director will be able to assist you in case of an emergency, but should not be relied upon to assist with personal calls, as it is impossible to be familiar with all the phones and calling plans on the market. A satellite phone is available onboard the Mekong Navigator for emergency calls only. Along the Mekong River, there will be times when no cell phone service is available. Should you choose to bring your cell phone on your cruise, please refrain from conducting conversations during the guides excursion commentary, lectures, and movies. CHILDREN Due to the rural nature of the places we visit, Haimark is unable to accommodate children under age 12. Many countries have instituted regulations to impede the international abduction of children. Should a child between the ages of 12 and 18 not be traveling with both custodial parents, we recommend you secure a Child Travel Consent prior to departure in order to demonstrate to foreign authorities that the child has permission to travel internationally. If a traveling parent has sole custody, authorities may require notarized copy of a court order (or equivalent) proving custody, as well as government-issued certificates proving your relationship to the child. We also encourage you to contact your chosen airlines and embassies/consulates to determine if any additional documentation will be requested. MEKONG NAVIGATOR CRUISEMATE 9

HOTEL DIRECTOR An experienced, knowledgeable Hotel Director will be onboard the Mekong Navigator during your cruise to handle all the details, leaving you to relax and enjoy your vacation. The Hotel Director will provide pre-dinner briefings of the next day s activities, and prepare daily programs that will be left in your suite each evening during dinner. The Hotel Director will also be available daily to help with any questions you may have from where to enjoy dinner in Phnom Penh and how to hail a tuk-tuk, to where to purchase snake wine in Vietnam. CUSTOMS & BORDER CROSSINGS Entry documents will be required at all border crossings, so please carry proper identification with you all times, and never place it in checked luggage. Crossing the border between Vietnam and Cambodia during the cruise is usually seamless for guests, although there is sometimes a wait of several hours. While border crossings are typically not a problem, you must be prepared to open your luggage, on request of immigrations and customs officials. When arriving by airplane, it is not unusual for a border guard to ask you questions such as where are you from, where are you going, how long will you be there, or what is the purpose of your trip. Always answer honestly and politely. Joking with officials at home may be appreciated, but in some countries it is considered rude, and can result in added scrutiny. If you are bringing laptops, cameras, or other electrical equipment with you on your trip, you may be required to register these items with the local customs authority in order to ensure you are not charged duty on these items when you return home. Most items you purchase internationally can be brought back into the US or Canada. We do recommend, however, that you check with both your home country s customs office for current restrictions, as well as with the embassies of the countries you are visiting for any restrictions on items that may be unlawful to take outside their borders. We also suggest you contact the embassies of the countries you are visiting for any restrictions on items that may be restricted or that may be unlawful to take outside their borders. MEKONG NAVIGATOR CRUISEMATE 11

When you return to your home country, you should be prepared to declare everything you purchased or acquired while traveling. Many countries will ask you to complete a customs form, which will require descriptions and values of the items. These forms are easier to complete if you keep your sales receipts easily accessible. Most countries have set customs duty exemptions for both quantity and value of certain items. We suggest that you familiarize yourself with these allowances and limits prior to your travel. CURRENCY The official currency of Vietnam is the Vietnamese dong. It is advisable to exchange at least a small amount of money into Vietnamese dong, especially for purchasing items from small, local merchants and restaurants, and for taxis, which typically do not accept other currencies. Most large merchants and restaurants will accept US dollars. ATMs in Vietnam only provide Vietnam dong. The official currency of Cambodia is the Cambodian riel. However, most monetary transactions, including withdrawing cash from ATMs and banks will be in US dollars. Should you be due change in an amount less than US $1, you will be given riel; otherwise, US dollars are given. The official currency of Thailand is the Thai baht, and it is advisable to exchange your currency into Thai baht, as the vast majority of businesses use only the baht. Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted in all three countries by all but the smallest merchants. You may find, however, that some are reluctant to take credit cards for small purchases because of the fees associated with the cards. Therefore, we suggest that you carry some cash, whether local currency or US dollars. Aside from the international hotel chains, American Express is not widely accepted in this part of the world. Please contact your bank and/or credit card companies to let them know that you will be leaving the country to avoid any problems using your credit card(s) overseas. In Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand, currency exchanges may be made at banks, currency exchanges, or hotels, all with very similar rates. Please note that both currency exchanges and ATMs charge fees. You are advised to inquire as to the currency exchange fee before making the exchange; ATMs will require you to accept the charge before proceeding to dispense any cash. MEKONG NAVIGATOR CRUISEMATE 12

The official currency on board the Mekong Navigator is the US dollar. During the cruise, we operate on a cashless system, with all purchases billed to your onboard account. At the end of the cruise, bills may be settled in cash with US dollars or by credit card with Visa, MasterCard or American Express. The Mekong Navigator does not provide a currency exchange service, nor is there an ATM onboard. In Phnom Penh, about halfway through the cruise, you will find multiple options for obtaining US dollars at both Cambodian and international banks, ATMs, and wire services. ATMs are widely available in Vietnam, as well, but will only provide Vietnamese dong. DINING Breakfast onboard is an American-style buffet. Lunch onboard offers a selection of fresh salads, daily soups, and entrées. Dinner is seated and offers soup, salad, a main course, and dessert. Vegetarian options are always available on the ship. Please notify Haimark, in advance, if you have any special dietary concerns or considerations that need to be taken into account while traveling with us. We will do our best to ensure that your request is accommodated, but cannot guarantee all diet needs and preferences can be met. Complimentary, coffee, tea, water, soft drinks and select domestic spirits and local beer are available throughout the day. House red and white wines are also complimentary during dinner. Premium spirits, imported beer, premium wines, and house wines (outside of dinner) are available for purchase throughout the day. ELECTRICAL CURRENT Voltage is 220/50Hz in all hotels and onboard the ship. To use any electrical product from the United States that is not dual voltage, you will need a voltage converter. Our ships have multi-configuration plugs, which accommodate most Western plugs. Bringing an adapter is recommended for pre- and post-cruise hotel stays. ELEVATORS ON THE SHIP The ship does not have an elevator. MEKONG NAVIGATOR CRUISEMATE 13

SAFETY EQUIPMENT The ship is outfitted with modern smoke detectors, fire alarms, extinguishers, and hoses. Alarms are situated at regular intervals along all decks. Fire extinguishers are located at regular intervals around the ship, and outside all public rooms. ETIQUETTE Many of the local customs in Vietnam and Cambodia differ greatly from Western culture. In many temples, and on the grounds of the National Palace in Phnom Penh, it is required that all guests cover their knees and shoulders when entering the grounds. Shoes will need to be removed when entering some buildings. Our itinerary takes us into areas where locals are simply living their daily lives. Should you wish to take a photo of locals, please request their permission first (simply pointing to your camera and allowing them to nod is sufficient). Monks wearing saffron robes will be encountered in numerous places in Cambodia. Women are not allowed to touch the monks, even by accident, so please allow plenty of room for them to pass. If you enter a temple when locals are worshiping, please do not take photographs. Photos are allowed during our Buddhist water blessing, however, and no special permission is needed during that event. Guides will inform you when entering other places where photos are not allowed. EXCURSIONS Each cruise/tour program features comprehensive, included, shore excursions. Details for your particular itinerary will be provided in the daily program. Optional excursions are also offered. When the ship is moored, you are welcome to move freely between ship and land as much as you like. Our next sailing time will be listed on the Daily Schedule provided by your Hotel Director, and passengers are requested to note this before disembarkation. Group shore excursions are also detailed on the Daily Schedule, and are accompanied by your local guide and a member of the ship s staff. Whenever leaving the ship you will receive a boarding pass and submit it on your return to the ship, so the crew can determine when all guests are aboard. Haimark is not responsible for rejoining costs should you not reboard the ship prior to the indicated sailing time. MEKONG NAVIGATOR CRUISEMATE 14

FACILITIES FOR THE DISABLED The ship does not have elevators, and is not handicapped- or wheelchair-accessible. Embarkation/disembarkation facilities may also be impossible to navigate with wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, or any other mechanical device. Many of the places we visit on the Mekong River itinerary are not handicapped accessible. Most shore excursions involve walking over uneven ground. Additionally, some excursions are walking tours only, and some places will require the removal of shoes before entering. For your safety and enjoyment, we recommend that all guests be in good physical condition. At its sole discretion, Haimark reserves the right to refuse passage, or to require a current passenger to end his or her trip if the passenger s state of health or physical condition may affect his or her own health, safety, and enjoyment, or that of other passengers. FITNESS CENTER AND SPA The La Vie Fitness Center is located on the Sun Deck, and offers modern fitness equipment in a light and airy environment, with floorto-ceiling windows looking out over the river. The fitness center is open from 6:00am to 8:00pm daily. La Vie Spa offers a variety of traditional massages, wraps and aromatherapies, in two private spa rooms on the Sun Deck; contact the spa to make your appointments. FOOTWEAR Guests should wear comfortable but safe walking shoes when going ashore. Guests will be asked to remove their shoes in specific venues during excursions, which will be noted in the daily programs, and you may prefer to wear shoes that are easily removed during these excursions. The riverbanks and paths used on our excursions can be quite dusty, or muddy and slippery, and upon your return to the ship, the Mekong Navigator crew members will ask you to remove your shoes. They will be cleaned and returned to your suite shortly thereafter. Slippers are provided for your comfort onboard the vessel. GOING ASHORE Because of the varying nature of the riverbank, methods of getting ashore may differ from time to time and, on occasion, access may be difficult. We will ensure that the gangways are safe and that ship s crew is on hand to assist you. MEKONG NAVIGATOR CRUISEMATE 15

GRATUITIES Gratuities are customary expressions of appreciation for a job well done, and it is our goal to ensure that the service you receive is as wonderful as the sites you visit. The amount of the gratuity you choose to give is subject to your satisfaction with your travel experience. To assist you in determining the amount of gratuities, the following is provided as a guideline: Ship s staff and crew: US $8-10 per guest, per day (given at the end of the cruise) Hotel Director: US $8-10 per guest, per day (given at the end of the cruise) Local guides: US $6-8 per guest, per day (given at the end of the guide s service) Local transportation providers tuk tuk drivers, etc.): US $1 per guest, per service, US $2-3 per guest, per service for the long coach transfers (given at the end of each service) The above is solely a guideline. The amount you give should depend upon your personal experience and level of satisfaction. Gratuities cannot be billed to onboard accounts or paid with a credit card, so please ensure that you have small bills on hand for this expense. INSECT PRECAUTIONS Outer glass or screen doors and windows should be kept closed at all times in order to minimize the number of insects allowed into your room. While you can expect to encounter insects, most are relatively harmless. Make sure to switch off lights when leaving your suite so as to not lure them in. On the fast-flowing river, mosquitoes are rarely to be seen while sailing. If planning to be outside in the early morning or evening hours, especially when going ashore, it is recommended to apply insect repellent, particularly to ankles and other exposed skin. INTERNET ACCESS Complimentary Internet access, when available, is provided in all public areas of the ship, for guests who bring their own Wi-Fi capable devices. Additionally, La Bibliotèque also offers three computers, free of charge, to guests who prefer not to bring their own devices. Many hotels in Vietnam and Cambodia provide complimentary internet access in the public areas of the hotels, but internet service in the guest rooms is often available only as a paid service. MEKONG NAVIGATOR CRUISEMATE 16

LAUNDRY Laundry service is available on board the ship. Instructions and fees are listed in your guest information book in your suite. Self-service laundry facilities are not available on the ship. Guests who booked the Grand or Prestige suites will receive complimentary laundry service. MOVING ABOUT THE SHIP Because the ship will often be in motion and the decks are sometimes slippery, please take care when moving about the decks. Stairs may be steeper than you are used to, and it is best to always use the handrails. MUSTER STATIONS During your welcome briefing, there will be a safety demonstration, where you will be informed of the location of your muster station. In the event of an emergency, the ship s whistle will blast repeatedly and the alarm bells will ring. If you hear these sounds when you are either in or near your suite, put on the life jacket located in the closet in your suite, immediately proceed to your muster station, and await instructions. In your suite, there is a plan of the ship that shows the position of your suite in relation to the muster stations. Signs directing you to the muster stations are also located throughout the ship. If you are not in your suite when you hear the alarm, please do NOT return to it, but proceed at once to your muster station to await instructions. In the event that a muster station is not safe, the crew will direct you to an alternate muster station. Please note that, as with inland water class cruise ships on European rivers, we are not required by Class Societies to carry lifeboats since it is much quicker to beach the vessel on the nearest sand bar or river bank and evacuate by foot than to transfer passengers onto lifeboats. OMISSIONS Haimark is not responsible for omissions, printing and/or presentation errors in brochures, on Internet sites, or in any other media where such information may be presented; we reserve the right to make corrections as required. MEKONG NAVIGATOR CRUISEMATE 17

PERSONAL SAFE Each suite is equipped with a combination safe for your use. Please use a number that will be easy to remember. If you forget your number, please notify the office immediately, as repeatedly trying to unlock the safe with an incorrect code will result in the safe being disabled. Haimark is not responsible for any valuables left in your suite, and urges you to leave valuables at home. Any charges incurred in returning lost property will be at the owner s expense. RESTRICTED AREAS Some areas are clearly indicated as Crew Only. We ask you to respect these areas, as the crew may be working, and your safety cannot be guaranteed. These areas include the galley, engine rooms, crew accommodation, and gangways aft of the Sun Deck. Crew members have been instructed to escort any unauthorized persons from these areas and make a report to the Captain. SECURITY In the countries in which we operate, pickpockets are not uncommon, and caution is encouraged. When sailing, many passengers do not lock their doors, creating the opportunity for theft. A 24-hour watch is kept on board, at all times, in order to control access to the ship, but we suggest keeping your door locked when your suite is not in use and at night. Haimark cannot be held liable for loss of money, jewelry, or other valuable items from the ship, from a hotel, or while on an excursion ashore during a voyage. A travel insurance policy will typically cover most incidents of loss or theft. SHIP S OFFICE The Ship s Office is located on the Sun Deck. The Hotel Director, Purser, and other key team members are available to assist you at designated times. MEKONG NAVIGATOR CRUISEMATE 18

SHOPPING We make every effort to ensure time is available for shopping during excursions where this is feasible. On excursions where shopping is possible, the actual amount of time available may be limited due to tour constraints. Shopping suggestions can be made by your Hotel Director. Larger stores will accept most major credit cards, while market vendors and small stores in Vietnam and Thailand may only accept the local currency. Cambodia, however, widely accepts the US dollar. It is a good idea to take a small amount of cash in local currency to use for on-the-spot gratuities, purchasing of souvenirs or sundries, and taxis or tuk-tuks you may wish to use in your free time. SMOKING The ship is a non-smoking environment in all public areas and suites, including balconies. Smoking is allowed only on the aft section of the upper Sun Deck. Hotels used on our land extensions are also non-smoking in all rooms. Some hotels do, however, allow smoking on balconies, outdoor restaurants and bars, and/or small sections of indoor lounges. SUITE AMENITIES We want you to be as comfortable as possible during your voyage with us. Our onboard team will do their best to ensure the highest possible standards of cleanliness and comfort in your room. Please let us know if you have questions or if you are not satisfied with any aspect of our service. All suites are equipped with a minibar, satellite tv, universal docking station with alarm clock, and phones connected to onboard staff. Each suite also has individually controlled air conditioning; a personal safe; a generous closet and under-bed luggage storage; a hair dryer and makeup mirror; spa quality robes, slippers, and spa bath amenities; as well as premium mattresses, linens and pillows. Grande, Prestige, and Signature suites offer private verandas or balconies. Vista Suites offer a French balcony, and Superior Suites have portholes. MEKONG NAVIGATOR CRUISEMATE 19

VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CRUISE PROGRAM For US and Canadian citizens participating in the cruise-only program, single entry visas are required for both Vietnam and Cambodia. Your Vietnam visa must be obtained prior to departure. Cambodian visas may be obtained either at the airport on arrival in Siem Reap (downstream) or by the Hotel Director on board the ship (upstream). Please be aware e-visas are NOT accepted by the Cambodian officials when entering Cambodia on the river by ship, on the upstream itinerary. Due to government imposed security and immigration measures, passport information, emergency contact information, and proof of Vietnamese visa issuance is required prior to release of final documentation, including cruise tickets. Any visa(s) or other documentation required for a particular itinerary is the sole responsibility of the guest. Haimark will not be responsible for advising and/or obtaining required travel documentation for any passenger, or for any delays, damages and/or losses, including missed portions of your trip, related to improper or absent travel documentation. It is suggested that copies of important documents, including your passport and visas, be kept in a separate place, in case the originals are lost or stolen. Our recommended visa service company, G3 Visas, would be pleased to assist you in obtaining the correct visas for your program. A link to information and the required forms can be found at VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR LAND EXTENSIONS If you are participating in the Hanoi and/or Ho Chi Minh City optional land extensions, US and Canadian citizens may be required to obtain a multiple entry visa to Vietnam. Please consult with our recommended visa service or each country s consulate for requirements related to your specific itinerary. US and Canadian citizens do not need a visa for entry to Thailand, as long as their stay is less than 30 days. MEKONG NAVIGATOR CRUISEMATE 20

WATER Please do not drink the tap water while on board or onshore. The ship s water supply comes from the river after passing through a sterilization process. This water is suitable for showers and baths, but should not be consumed. Complimentary bottled water for drinking and brushing teeth is provided onboard, and additional bottled water will be made available free of charge on excursions. To save water and reduce detergent use, we will only change towels if they are placed on the floor. Hotels on our land extensions will also provide bottled water. WEATHER Weather forecasts are widely available on the Internet, and some of the favorites for large, international cities are and Haimark s preferred resource for up-to-theminute weather in the rural areas we visit is Weather Underground, which may be found at Average Temperatures Average High/Low (F) Hanoi Ho Chi Minh City Phnom Penh Siem Reap Bangkok Jan 66/59 88/72 88/71 88/67 89/71 Feb 66/59 90/73 91/72 90/70 90/75 Mar 73/64 92/76 93/74 93/74 92/78 Apr 79/70 93/79 95/76 94/76 94/80 May 88/75 92/79 93/76 93/74 92/80 Jun 90/77 89/77 91/76 93/76 91/80 Jul 90/79 89/77 90/76 91/76 90/78 Aug 90/79 88/77 90/76 89/75 90/78 Sep 88/77 88/77 88/76 89/75 89/77 Oct 82/72 97/76 87/76 87/75 89/77 Nov 75/66 87/74 86/74 87/71 88/74 Dec 70/59 87/72 86/71 86/67 87/70 MEKONG NAVIGATOR CRUISEMATE 21

WHAT TO WEAR Depending on the season in which you will travel, it is advisable to prepare for a variety of weather. Layering clothing is recommended, as cool mornings may give way to hot, humid afternoons, and all the buses, restaurants, suites, and public areas are air-conditioned. Comfortable, sporty, casual clothing is appropriate both onshore and on board. We suggest natural and/or moisture-wicking fabrics in light colors, which may be layered, such as a mix of lightweight shirts, everyday khakis, slacks, skirts/dresses, walking shorts, along with sweaters for early mornings, late evenings, and air-conditioned spaces. Mix-and-match solid color schemes work best to help keep baggage light. Shorts, capris or lightweight pants, good walking shoes, and sun hats during the day are highly recommended. For evenings, we recommend casual and cool attire; however, we kindly request that guests not wear shorts at dinner, and we require shirts and footwear to be worn at all times in the dining room. You will engage in a significant amount of walking over uneven terrain during your time ashore. We recommend comfortable walking shoes, with good ankle support, that are easy to remove when required at certain sites. Sport jackets and cocktail dresses are not needed at any time during this program. Guests participating in the Hanoi/Ha Long Bay optional land extension may also wish to pack a waterproof jacket (preferably hooded) for the colder temperatures that may be found in Hanoi, and especially Ha Long Bay, in late October through March. MEKONG NAVIGATOR CRUISEMATE 22

Frequently Asked Questions What about the weather? Prepare for a variety of weather conditions depending on your travel season and the river on which you will be cruising. Layering clothing items is always your best bet, as this allows each person to adjust to any temperature, including artificially maintained temperature, by removing or adding items throughout the day. What should I wear ashore? Comfortable, sporty, smart-casual day-wear is appropriate both onshore and onboard. You will find a significant amount of walking over uneven terrain during your time ashore. We recommend comfortable walking shoes with good ankle support, as well as head covering to protect from the sun. At some sites, you may also be required to have knees and shoulders covered, and/or be required to remove your shoes. Don t forget to pack a waterproof jacket (preferably hooded) for unpredictable rain and colder temperatures. I have concerns about my physical ability. What do I do? Guests with mobility concerns need to discuss their concerns with Haimark staff at the time of booking. Guests requiring the use of a mobility device, such as a wheelchair, motorized scooter, or walker, may not be able to participate in many shore excursions or use them onboard the ships. Also, guests who may be limited in their ability to walk long distances may also have difficulties, as there is often uneven terrain on many shore excursions. How accurate are the shore excursion/tour descriptions? Haimark makes every effort to ensure that shore excursions are performed as promoted and outlined. In certain circumstances beyond our control, it may not be possible or practical for an excursion to be performed exactly as written. The decision to cancel or alter excursions, and/or otherwise adjust or modify any element of an advertised excursion is at the sole discretion of Haimark, always taking into account the safety and best interests of the guests, and the intent of the overall product delivery. Any modifications deemed necessary to any excursion will not result in eligibility for a refund. MEKONG NAVIGATOR CRUISEMATE 23

Can the itinerary change? What happens if it does change? You can count on the value of Haimark s experience and regional knowledge to make sure you enjoy your cruise/tour, even when conditions beyond our control occur. The very nature of a river, its sources, and the bridges allowing land crossings, together present conditions that may require Haimark to modify our itinerary. Although every effort is made to keep itineraries as advertised, Haimark reserves the right to make changes and substitutions, as necessary, to ensure the safety of our guests and our vessels. Every effort will be made to alert guests of known changes, in advance of boarding. When this is not possible, all guests will be informed onboard of any change or amendment. Changes to itineraries, including the addition of extensive motor coach touring needed to arrive at the intended excursions, will not result in eligibility for a refund. What time will excursions depart? All shore excursions are carefully coordinated to the ship s daily schedule. Your Hotel Director will conduct daily briefings prior to dinner each evening, informing all guests of the next day s schedule. This briefing will include departure times, specifics about the shore excursions/ tours not covered in this booklet, suggested shopping and restaurant recommendations, where applicable, and other important information about the following day s activities. Guests are strongly encouraged to attend the briefings, as information will be presented that may not be included elsewhere, and guests are given the opportunity to ask questions about previous or future activities or events. A daily program will be distributed to each guest s stateroom during turn-down service each evening. This program provides a written overview of all excursions, onboard activities, and other events taking place the next day. How can I book the optional excursions? Reservations for the optional excursions on your cruise can be made directly with your Hotel Director onboard the ship, and paid by credit card (Visa, MasterCard and American Express). Unfortunately, we cannot accept cash payments for optional excursions. A briefing will be held the day prior to an optional excursion to review the schedule for that excursion. Operation of optional excursions is subject to a minimum number of participants. No refunds are available for optional excursions once they have been purchased. Optional excursions offered during optional land extensions should be booked through the local host who will greet you at your hotel. Only Visa, MasterCard and American Express are accepted, and the same operation and cancellation rules apply. MEKONG NAVIGATOR CRUISEMATE 24

Does each motor coach or walking group have its own tour guide? Yes. Each motor coach or walking group has its own English-speaking local tour guide. Haimark endeavors to select the highest quality guides, who are well versed in the destination, and most of all, making sure that you have the best possible time ashore. What about tipping? Gratuities should always be in accordance with each guest s personal satisfaction. Please refer to the Gratuities section of this pamphlet for recommendations and guidelines. What is the transportation like on excursions? Haimark works with the best possible transportation companies, all of which are chosen with exact standards in mind. To ensure your maximum enjoyment of each excursion, all motor coaches are air-conditioned and have a minimum of 35 seats. There are a few destinations where the equipment may not be of a similar standard and, in such cases, the best possible transportation will be arranged. Rest stops are provided throughout the course of the excursion, as motor coaches in Vietnam and Cambodia do not have lavatories. Is smoking allowed on shore excursions/tours? Smoking is not allowed while on the motor coach, and many historical venues now request that visitors not smoke anywhere on site. We ask all our guests who smoke not to do so while on excursions/tours. Responsibility and Waiver The Passenger accepts the terms and conditions of the Passenger Ticket Contract when participating in any Haimark cruise/excursion/tour/land extension. Participation in some shore excursions or tours may also be subject to an independent operator s own Terms and Conditions. MEKONG NAVIGATOR CRUISEMATE 25
