2 Coming in September IV Fluid Warmer The use of room temperature (70 F) IV fluids on patients either in shock or susceptible to hypothermia should be avoided. Ideally, IV fluids should be administered as close to body temperature as possible to all patients for better therapeutic results. The JorVet IV fluid warmer is placed over a short 8 segment of a standard IV line, where it will safely warm passing fluids to 100 F. It should be placed within 18 of the patient. Veterinary patients, either small in size or in possible hypovolemic shock, benefit greatly from receiving warm IV fluids (~100 F) versus room temperature (70 F) fluids. However, maintaining a ready supply of warmed fluids has been difficult. The JorVet Bullpen is an IV fluid warming station that maintains unopened IV fluid bags at a ready to use temperature of 100 F. These tubes can provide valuable nutritional support for anorexic patients and can be a live saving modality. 5 New Products Wax Eater Ear Speculum/Otoscope Cleansing device Any ear examined with an otoscope is going to result in a contaminated ear cone speculum. The Wax Eater otoscope speculum cleaner is designed to mechanically remove wax plus disinfect the otoscope speculum between each and every clinical use. This reduces the risks of inadvertently spreading pathogenic organisms i.e. yeast, mites or even Pseudomonas spp. to patients. The specially designed brushes get into hard to reach areas of the otoscope speculum. The brushes are in a disinfectant solution of choice. Immediately proximal to the suture anchor is a narrow break off point. The construct is stable during axial drilling of the pin into bone. Once in position with the hole of the anchor just above the surface of the bone, the shaft of the pin is rocked to and fro. The stainless steel undergoes work hardening and become very brittle, ultimately breaking off leaving the anchor in position ready for placement of sutures. The suture anchor pin is extremely easy to position and place without pre-drilling.
