Large institutes Many boarding schools spend 50 % of the annual food budget on fuel Sources of energy: Electricity and/or Fuel wood Electrical cooking pots Frequent power outages High Maintenance costs Expensive heat transfer oil Due to these drawbacks people tend to step over to open fires Wood fuels Open Fire Masonry Stoves Most masonry stoves consumes even more wood than open fires and need costly maintenance every semester

11 Envirofit stove compared to open fire Findings of the cook in Zomba prison: Cooking beans in 2 hours instead of 5 hours. No smoke at all Firewood savings about at least % Findings of the administrator 3 stoves will replace the open fires completely Wood expenditures will drop from 3,500,000 MK to 900,000 MK. Total investment: 1,800,000 MK. Thus payback period is about 9 months (in case of tax exemption only 5 months).

Moreover, the double pot attachment s chimney vents smoke outside the nearness of the cook With extension of the chimney all smoke can be directed outside the home (Tier 4?) Its expanded cooking capacity is perfect for large families or cooking for feasts, friends and visitors.
