Rascals (3rd & 4th Graders) Boys and girls will be in separate groups and will be introduced to archery and climbing. They will have the option of participating in extended day and family nights each session. Pioneers (5th & 6th Graders) Boys and girls groups will be introduced to team building activities, the low ropes course, and will have the option of participating for the first time in an overnight event during each session. Rangers (7th & 8th Graders) These campers work in small and large co-ed groups to develop their social skills thru team building and low ropes challenge course activities. Rangers participate in an outdoor adventure such as tubing, and a dance event during their overnight. Teen Leadership Camp Leaders In Training (LIT) (9th Graders) Available sessions 1,2,3,4 Fee: LITs will be spending their two weeks making the exciting transition from camper to leader and role model. They will focus on leadership development curriculum, including job training, team building workshops, and service learning opportunities while still enjoying many camp activities. Counselors In Training (CIT) (10th Graders) Available sessions A (Session 1&2) or B (Session 3&4) Fee: for 4 weeks The four weeks are spent learning the intricacies of being a well-rounded, ultra-dynamic camp counselor, including specialized workshops, job-shadowing, and on-the-job learning opportunities. CITs who graduate will be eligible for the JC program as 11th graders. Completion of the application process, including an interview is required before registration. Call for scheduling ( ). Junior Counselor (JC) (11th Grade only) Available sessions 1,2,3,4,5 Fee: FREE JC s, having completed the CIT program have a unique, hands-on opportunity to spend the summer working with campers in an assistant role to the counselors. A successful stint as a JC fills most school volunteer service requirements, looks great on resumes, and can lead to a future position at. Outdoor Adventure Trips Session 1,2,3,4 - Grades 6,7,8 Exciting outdoor experiences as campers take day trips to do activities like hike, kayak, and rock climb. Safety and proper trip preparedness are emphasized through pre-trip activities at Camp Chase. Each day is a new adventure! Teen Odyssey Trip Camp Session 1,2,3,4 - Grades 9-11 High school age campers looking for exciting outdoor adventures shared with friends should sign up for this two-week experience. Fun in the Sun (F-I-T-S) is an enrichment program for the preschooler who will enjoy the camp experience. The staff ratio for this program is 1:6. (Counselors stay with their campers, providing supervision and leading activities throughout the day; highly trained Lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors insure safety at the Pool. 6 Fun in the Sun meets at the YMCA and makes use of the YMCA facility for a variety of activities. 5 Registration Checklist Summer Camp 2010 Camper must have a YMCA membership prior to sending in Camp Forms. Memberships are available from the Farmington Valley YMCA. Membership Forms are available online at Membership must remain current through last day of program. Program memberships are free. Fill out both sides of the day camp registration form completely and neatly (one per child) Include the non-refundable and non-transferable deposit of 20% ($98) per camper, per session. (Application will not be accepted without deposit.) Please see registration and payment information on page 10. Once we receive your completed registration forms and verify your membership, we will send you a confirmation letter and camper packet in the mail. Return all medical forms and waivers to Farmington Valley YMCA. Medical forms must be completed within the past two years of camper attendance to be valid. These forms can be found on our website: Campers will not be able to attend camp if full payment and medical forms (found in the camper packet and online) are not received by the 1st day of the month in which your child begins camp. Member s Code Of Conduct 1. The YMCA does not assume responsibility for personal property that is lost, stolen, or damaged. 2. All attire, including swimming attire, must be appropriate for a family/camp environment. 3. Shirts and shoes must be worn at all times, unless specific direction is required by YMCA staff. 4. A YMCA staff member must be informed of all accidents. The staff member will complete an accident report form. 5. Parents/Guardians must notify, in writing, the YMCA of any medical problems. Medical problems will be kept in confidence in campers files. 6. Bikes, rollerblades, skateboards, and heelies are not permitted at camp or in the YMCA building unless in use for a specific program under the direction of YMCA staff. 7. Smoking, use of non-prescription drugs, alcoholic beverages, firearms, or fireworks, carrying or concealing a weapon or any object that may be used as a weapon, harassment or intimidation by words, gestures, or body language, bullying or threatening another person verbally or physically is prohibited on YMCA property, at YMCA camps, in YMCA vehicles, or at YMCA sponsored programs. 8. Loitering/solicitation within or on the grounds of the YMCA is prohibited. One of the YMCA s goals is to strengthen relationships. One of the ways we accomplish this is by being a proud partner with numerous community organizations. Payment Due Dates: If the camping session begins in June the session is due in full no later than May 15. If the camping session begins in July the session is due in full no later than June 15. If the camping session begins in August the session is due in full no later than July 15. Cancellations after May 15th are eligible for a 50% refund of total session fees paid (less deposit).
