The committee has had a holiday this month, with no meeting till July 15, allowing everyone to enjoy the Winter Solstice. We have spent the time in Adelaide with 2 birthdays to enjoy, and somewhat drier weather than the lower North Island, or Hokatika. Our red wine supply has been topped up with a visit to the Clare Valley. We also have a great new rally location coming live to you at OTAKI in the Lower North Island 9-11 October. This is hosted by the Macphersons and the Turks, and should prove to be a great rally more details below. Also, due to the size of our vehicles, if you see that the location is already full; please move on to another location. The NZMCA is updating the Travel Directory with an advisory reading: Please keep in mind this is a popular car park for many visitors and local residents, therefore the NZMCA and Auckland Council recommend convoys of large motor caravans find alternative sites to park overnight. We need to acknowledge the concerns of local residents with large vehicles like 5th wheel vans reducing parking for local residents. While the local residents sought the prohibition of freedom camping, the Council wishes to take a less drastic approach to allow freedom camping to continue in the meantime. The Association is asking 5th wheel and caravan owners to avoid the Snells Beach carpark. Please heed this request so that it is not lost as a freedom camping location for others. 1
