Communicating With Your Child Camper Phone Calls We recognize how important it is for you to speak with your child. Please pay special attention to the important details below: 1. Campers will call home 1x per session with each call lasting a maximum of 10 minutes. 2. In late May you will receive information on our procedures for scheduling your phone calls. Using your Parent Dashboard account, you will be able to schedule your calls online and the system will allow you to change your scheduled calls throughout the summer. You will also be able to indicate which number your child should be using when calling home. 3. As we have done in the past, there will be no calls during the first or last week of camp. We have found that this practice helps our campers adjust to camp life to start the summer and focus on wrapping up relationships at the end. At the same time we know that this lack of contact can be difficult for the parents. If you feel detached and need to check in, please feel free to call us anytime. We will always be available to speak with you about your child. Writing and ing Your Child Camp is a wonderful experience for kids. That doesn t mean they won t experience moments of homesickness or feelings of separation from you. In order to alleviate this we will continue to offer our 1-way system through the Parent Dashboard. While they can t you back, we encourage you to your child regularly. The s are printed and delivered to your child each day. We also strongly encourage you to write letters. While it may seem antiquated in today s world, we feel that getting a letter at mail call is still a special thing at camp. We will be encouraging the campers to write home 2-3 times per week as well. Please use the addresses listed below: Name Name Camp Poyntelle Lewis Village Box 66 Box 47 Poyntelle, PA Poyntelle, PA Please make sure to indicate on your mail whether your child is at Poyntelle (2-7 th grade) or Lewis Village (8-11 th grade) to avoid delivery to the wrong side of camp and speed up arrival. 1

Web Photos Through the Parent Dashboard, you can access our Camp Today program, which will allow you to view our daily web photos. We post approximately 250 photos per day to offer our parents at home an inside glimpse of life at camp. *NEW for 2016 Social Media Director We are excited to announce that CPLV will now have a Social Media Director. This staff member will be responsible for uploading the daily photos, making daily Facebook/Instagram posts to update our families on all the great things happening at camp. These updates will include things such as weather reports, menu, trip news and tournament highlights to name a few! Camper Photos In an effort to simplify our photo packages, individual camper photos & bunk photos will be uploaded to our system for each camper. Parents will then have the option of saving them to your computer for free or printing them in various sizes through the Dashboard for approximately 19 /photo. We are not part of this 3 rd party transaction and receive no part of that fee. Additionally, we will continue sending home a complimentary bunk photo for each camper. Packages from Home We encourage you to send packages with games, books and toys that you think your child will like. However, please keep in mind that we do not allow food to be sent to camp. Because of our nut free policy it is essential that this policy be enforced. Additionally, not allowing food being sent to camp, helps us keep animals out of the bunks. Therefore, all packages sent to children will be opened by our main office staff and then given to your child. If you have any questions regarding the reasons for this policy, please contact us at the NY office and we will be happy to explain the problems outside food causes in a camp environment. If sending by courier, please use the following address: Camp Poyntelle Lewis Village, 584 Cribbs Road Poyntelle PA Birthdays in Camp Camp Birthdays are special and should be unforgettable! Birthday campers will wake up to a decorated bunk and enjoy a pizza party lunch for his/her bunk with cupcakes for dessert. As we started last year, we will no longer charge extra for birthday festivities! Additionally, you can send a special birthday package in advance (to ensure we have it in time) that will be given to your child on his/her birthday. Please send the package to camp a few days early and address it to Ryan Peters care of your child. This way it will be kept in the Director s office to ensure it get s delivered on the right day. Lastly, the birthday camper will be able to call home to speak to his/her parents. This call is in addition to the 1 call per session. Shabbat Traditionally at CPLV, Shabbat is a special evening, consisting of a great dinner, a gorgeous lakeside evening service with singing and spirit. The focus is celebrating our week and bringing everyone together as a family. In an effort to create a unique and special feeling on Friday night, we ask that everyone wear white. Typically, the girls will choose to get a bit more dressed this evening as well. While it is certainly not required, sundresses, sandals, etc, are appropriate to help create a special atmosphere. Please be sure to pack enough white clothing for the summer. 2 CPLV -Where Great Things Happen-

Eye Glasses If your child wears glasses, please pack an extra pair with his/her name written on both pairs. Please advise us on the medical form if your child wears contact lenses. Laundry CPLV provides laundry services. Each camper has his/her personal clothing and linens washed each week. Campers must come to a camp with a laundry bag with his/her name. This is where their dirty clothes will go while in the bunk. On laundry day, all dirty clothing is put into camp laundry bags and delivered to our laundromat. The children are then responsible (with counselor help when necessary) to sort the clothes and put away in their cubby. Clean Up At CPLV, our campers are encouraged to care for their own belongings and keep a neat and tidy space in their bunk. Our values encourage independence and accountability for one s self and each other. Therefore, work wheels are posted in each bunk so the kids know what chores they are responsible for. While our housekeeping staff will do a disinfectant cleaning of the bunk bathrooms each day, the campers are responsible for sweeping the floors, wiping down the sinks, organizing toiletries, removing all garbage, making their beds, straightening cubbies and patrolling the grounds and porch around the bunk for trash on a daily basis. Division Heads will inspect the bunks each day. At the end of the week, the cleanest bunk on campus will receive a special treat for honor bunk! Bed Linen & Towels Campers must bring their own bedding (including blankets and pillows). The mattresses at camp are cot size, so you can purchase cot size sheets. Twin size sheets will work as well. Campers are also required to bring towels for swimming in the lake and pool, as well as bathing. CPLV Nut Free Policy We are a nut free camp. Specifically, all food prepared and served in our dining rooms are nut free. Additionally any snacks we offer and all canteen products are nut free as well. There will be a peanut butter substitute available at meals. Bar & Bat Mitzvah Tutoring Once again, Cantor Bill Lieberman will be joining us for another summer at CPLV. Any family interested in private lessons with Cantor Bill, must us at corey@poyntelle.com to sign up. During our Staff Training week, Cantor Bill will be in touch with each of you to discuss your thoughts and expectations of these lessons. There is no charge for this service. Parent Vacations During The Summer If you are planning a trip while your child is at camp, please send us the dates you are traveling, along with an emergency phone number so we can reach you. If we are unable to connect, we will then contact your emergency contact as listed in your child s paperwork. 3

Mini-Camps We will continue to offer specialized mini-camps throughout the summer. These programs are designed to appeal to campers who want extra time and instruction at these activities. They are a great way to customize your camper s experience. As with everything we do, these lessons are about growth, development and building confidence. Program Provider Date Lacrosse dynamiclacrosse.com July 21 st 22 nd Krav Maga kmcausa.com July 25 th 26 th Dance hip-hopdancebootcamp.com July 7 th 8 th Soccer susaacademy.com July 28 th 29 th Basketball basketballstarsofny.com July 14 th 15 th Baseball electriccitybaseball.com July 5 th 6 th *Broadcast Camp (NEW for 2016) Sue Aller (camp parent) and two coworkers from 1010 Wins TBD There are no additional fees for these clinics and sign up will be executed at camp with the children. Horseback Riding We will be returning to C&S Stables, located a short 15-minute car ride from camp. Lessons are priced at $50 per person, with the option to go 1x per week for a maximum of 6 weeks depending on your child s length of stay. To enroll your child, please login to the Parent Dashboard and submit the Horseback Riding Form. Lice Protocol Lice can spread quickly in our community and while their presence does not carry any significant health concerns, it is something that needs to be dealt with immediately. Therefore, we check all campers for head lice upon arrival at camp. If head lice or nits are found at the start of camp, we will immediately notify you. You will then have two options: Option 1: Have your child treated by our lice technicians from The Lice Treatment Center ( Treatment will include multiple shampoos (all natural ingredients), and comb-outs over the course of a few days. Your child will be able to be part of camp activities within 1 hour of initial check. We ve priced out several companies and the cost for this treatment is $300 per child. Option 2: You can come and pick up your child to have them treated at home. In this case, upon return, your child will be re-checked by our medical staff and you must provide written documentation of the aforementioned treatment. If a child contracts lice during the camp season, we will treat them at camp and the cost will be covered by CPLV. We require that you check your child for head lice or the presence of nits, prior to arriving at camp. We strongly suggest contacting local companies to conduct a head check prior to camp. CPLV -Where Great Things Happen-

The amounts below represent camper spending money for trips and $20 per camper for incidental purchasing throughout the summer (e.g. lost water bottle, toothbrush, batteries, etc.) On your camper s last trip of the summer, they will be given the remaining balance of their account. Money left over will be sent home with them on the last day of camp. Rookie Camp 1 st Session 2 nd Session Full Summer Poyntelle Juniors $60 $70 $60 $90 Poyntelle Inters $60 $70 $90 $120 Lewis 8 th & 9 th Graders n/a $70 $200 $250 Lewis 10 th Graders n/a $70 $270 $300 LITs n/a n/a n/a $350 To deposit money in your child s account, please send a check made payable to Camp Poyntelle Lewis Village with Spending Account and your child s name written clearly in the notes section after June 1 st. These checks must be mailed to our PA address. These cash accounts are set up to ensure the safety of your child s money from loss. The cash is distributed prior to any trip. Please do not send your child to camp with excess cash to be kept in the bunk. Visiting Day Visiting Day is a significant event during the camp season. It gives you and your child a chance to spend time together and to share experiences you have enjoyed since you last saw each other. You will also have an opportunity to meet your child s, counselors, bunkmates, Division Heads and Head Counselor. This summer, CPLV will host ONE (1) Visiting Day on Sunday, July 17. Visiting Day begins at10:00am and ends by 3:30pm. Parents will not be admitted on the grounds prior to this time. We will once again be having our traditional Visiting Day Barbeque. We will put out extra seating and also encourage you to bring chairs and/or blankets for your family. The day should focus on spending quality time with your child and not on bringing them material things. While you may want to bring special treats, it should be for your child only. A gift and a special snack from home is appropriate. However, food for the entire bunk or food in amounts that cannot be eaten that day is inappropriate and not permitted. We live in a community where there is one standard for everyone and all food that is not eaten by the end of the day will be discarded. Additionally, we operate a kosher kitchen and have a nut free policy. While we won t be checking what food you re bringing to camp, we ask that you remember that non-kosher food is forbidden in the dining room and food containing nuts are kept in very small amounts and only given to YOUR CHILD. CPLV cannot guarantee our nut free policy on Visiting Days since we cannot effectively check what every family brings to camp. Important To Know For Visiting Days: Pets are not permitted Staff gratuities are not permitted Campers cannot be taken off camp grounds Smoking is not permitted on camp property There is NO 2 nd session Visiting Day. At 3:30pm we will end the day and will get ready for a special evening activity. We ask for your cooperation in helping us get the children back to their groups so that we can prepare for this event.
