3 Indian Jaipur Tents The Indian Garden Company s 2010 collection of luxury Jaipur tents are inspired by the ancient tents used by the Mughal Emperors of India. These romantic structures are ideal for use in the garden, by the pool or on the beach and make a perfect centrepiece for weddings and parties. Our opulent tents combine exquisite traditional craftsmanship with modern design and manufacturing techniques. Each tent is made by hand using high quality 15 oz canvas that is waterproof, mould proof and fire retardant to British and European Standards. The interior lining of the tent is made from 100% cotton with distinctive hand blocked prints from Sanganer, Rajasthan. In this ancient art, sun-bleached cotton is printed by hand with carved wood-blocks which have been dipped in natural dyes derived from plants, roots and the earth the result is a subdued, sophisticated palette in shades of Indigo, Taupe, Blue, Chocolate, Silver and Gold. All the tents have aluminium or galvanised steel frames made in the UK by experienced engineers. The frames are versatile, freestanding structures, which can be installed on soft ground, concrete or even a wooden deck. Frame tents are easy to erect and transport as they have no interior centre poles and can be placed in locations where Pole Tents are difficult to site. We have developed a number of different sizes to fit your requirements, whether it be a small space or a large event, we have a frame tent to suit most budgets. The Maharani can comfortably seat 10 people around a 1.6 metre table and is ideal for alfresco entertaining or simply relaxing in the garden. The exterior is made from natural white 15oz canvas and is treated to ensure that it is both waterproof, rot proof and fire retardant. The tent frame is aluminium with the roof poles slotting together quickly and easily to support the canvas roof. The side poles fix into substantial footplates, which can be bolted to a hard surface and with additional guy ropes provide support on softer ground. The decorative cotton inner lining is hand-blocked by our skilled and experienced staff in a range of designs and colours. 5 THE Haveli The Haveli is a rectangular summer outdoor tent room which can be set up very quickly to create an opulent room in your garden. Tents similar to these were used by estate owners in the days of the Raj. So... why not sit back, relax, and savour high tea on your lawn. If you remove the side panels the Haveli can comfortably accommodate seating for 20 people across a long table, ideal for lazy summer lunches. You can combine two or more Jaisalmer tents into a line to create a substantial shaded space. THE Shamiana The origin of the Shamiana Tent dates back to the Mughal era when traditional Shamiana canopies were used for hunting parties and marriages.

7 THE Shamiana The origin of the Shamiana Tent dates back to the Mughal era when traditional Shamiana canopies were used for hunting parties and marriages. The Shamiana can be erected very quickly as a flat or angled canopy and in minutes provide a wonderfully decorative backdrop to barbeques, pool lunches or just lounging in the garden. It also makes an ideal sunshade for children to play under. The Shamiana can be erected as a sloping canopy which helps prevent water pooling on top of the structure. The 3m version will accommodate 10 people seated around a round table while the 4.5m version can seat up to 30 people at trestle tables in a U-shape, ideal for impromptu parties. NOTE: Unlike the other tents in the range the Shamiana is not designed to be left up throughout the summer months and it is suggested that it is taken down after each use. 8 Choose your Print Design All tents have a hand-blocked print on the inside lining. Choose from our selection when ordering. Alternatively we can print your own motif or logo for a small set-up fee. 9 Practical Considerations Construction Hand-Block Printing Mildew Strong Winds The tents come complete with the appropriate canopies, side-walls, metal poles, guy ropes, stakes, wooden pegs and storage bags for the canvas. It may be necessary to purchase a mallet to put up the tents. The side-walls are attached to the canopy by hooks and the panels are laced together. Materials The 15oz marquee canvas is in natural white and. is treated to ensure that it is both waterproof,. rot-proof and also fire retardant compliant to British and European Standards. The cotton lining is treated with a flame retardant during production. However, if you machine-wash the cotton lining then you will need to re-apply the flame retardant. Please note, we can also supply the inner-linings. in Trevira, which is made from flame retardant polyester and is inherently Flame Retardant.. Please ask our advice. The block printing process is done by hand. The maximum size of the block is roughly 5 inch square and many of the motifs employ 2 or 3 blocks to make up the print. The colours used are fixed and are machine washable. Canvas Care & Cleaning Because the canvas is treated with water and fire repellents, hot water or detergents are not recommended for cleaning. The best way to clean the tent is to put it up on a sunny day and use a hose-pipe with a spray attachment, or mini pressure washer on the lowest setting. A little Ecover washing liquid can be used on stubborn stains. Proper use and care of your tent will insure many years of tenting pleasure. Shrinkage All tents made from natural fibers, like cotton, will shrink slightly and this will affect the finished size measurements of the tent. The exact amount of shrinkage is impossible to predict. A common problem that occurs in canvas is mildew. Our tents are made of a fabric that is mildew resistant; however, it may mildew if left damp. This is very destructive to cotton fabrics and usually forms when tents are put in storage when damp. If mildew has started to grow, it can be stopped from spreading by thoroughly drying the tent, preferably in the hot sun and applying Lysol and water. To one gallon of water, add half a cup of Lysol. If you do not have Lysol on hand, you can try substituting 1 cup of lemon juice and 1 cup of salt into one gallon of water. Be sure to wash the affected area thoroughly, and rinse thoroughly. After any treatment has been applied, make sure the tent dries completely before putting into storage. IT IS IMPORTANT TO ALWAYS STORE CANVAS AWAY DRY AND IN DRY CONDITIONS. Keeping grass and weeds trimmed around the bottom of the tent is also important since dampness clings to foliage and does not allow air to get to the fabric. Do not delay in drying your tent! Our tents, if erected correctly are designed to be very stable, however, intense winds can cause extensive damage to your tent and frames. Be sure to set your tent up using all the stakes and ropes provided. Even when using a freestanding frame it will be necessary to also guy the tent out front and back using the grommets provided in the ends of the ridge if used in windy conditions. Frequently checking the stakes and tightening the guy ropes if they loosen during periods of high winds will keep things together. If the tent is left alone for periods of time in windy conditions we advise that all the panels are attached. This makes it harder for the wind to blow underneath the tent with the risk of blowing it away. Delivery Delivery is additional and is by carrier. We can also organize shipment of our tents and marquees to almost anywhere in the world. Please note the tents will take 6-8 weeks to make and deliver. 17
