Decorated first two words Feoffement by Thomas Rudyard of Rudyard, Staffordshire, esquire, and his son and heir Thomas Rudyard the younger, gent, to John Goodwin of Bradnop, Staffordshire, "schoomaster" of a house in Leek and land called "Cornnell [Corn Hill?] Cross close"and like the house occupied by John Malkin, dated 20 February Corn Hill croft is is described as containing two days work adjoing John Bateman's lands on the south, and the lands of Thomas Fynney on the north. Goodwin also acquired a piece of land "lying at Ludcock wall in or near Leek" which contained one and a half days work and adjoined the lands of John Bulkeley on the south and those of Thomas Gallimore on the north. There was also another piece of land in Leekfield, containing one day work and lying between the lands of Thomas Parker on the south and those of Thomas Rudyard on the north. Goodwin paid 81 for the property. The terms included requirements to make suit of court at the Court Leet and Court Baron of the Manor of Leek and grind corn at Leek Mill or Abbey Mill. The property was also subject to the payment of a rent under a previous agreement between the Rudyard family and Richard Bennison of Caverswell (dated 3-4 Charles I) the payment was to be made by the Rudyards for a number (names given) of Bennison lives and this reverted to Goodwin who was thus to received a payment (8s a year) for this from the Rudyards during the continuance of the lease. Henry Simpson sold or granted the property to James Simpson to hold for six months at a peppercorn rent.
