In 1828, in the reign of George IV, the old upper storey was taken down and rebuilt to accommodate the quarter sessions which were still held in at that time. your comments Edwina Chambers Love, recently went to a wonderful gift shop in the centre of town and think I left a bag there. I studied for a year in the UK and took a day trip to right before I came back to my homeland. I noticed it in the film "A Child's Christmas in." The town was awesome and the people were nice beyond imagination. I wish I could find an address for the town hall to write the town a letter telling them what a great impression and the people made on me. The next time I'm back in the UK I hope to come back. Tue Nov 21 15:03: John Smith Great to see the town getting some space on the BBC. I'm not sure that the 'Roman Road' actually is Roman however. I understood that the route was made around the time of the town's founding in the early 13th century. There are Roman roads and even traces of a fort some two miles to the north at Caerhowell/Forden. A great book written by two local doctors (the Weltons) exists on the history of the town. The unusual arrangement of windows and floor levels creates an imposing facade; he also effectively raised his house above the ground-water level that still flows from the hillside.

Believed to have been built in the 16th century, it later became the Plume of Feathers Inn. It was converted to a pair of dwellings by a deed of 1729 and has remained so for the past two and a half centuries.
