2 I WISHED ALL STORIES UNTOLD Plants on digital print 9 tablaux 634 x 460 mm, 1 tablaux 634 x 320 mm 2012 I Wished All Stories Untold is a series of 9 herbarium tableaux, with plants found between the pages of old books, and in herbariums made by students of botany. The plants are accompanied by stories based on the artists imagination of a world before she met a lover who left her. All the plants were collected before she met her lover. The majority of the plants were collected before either of them were even born. Prologue: My story is like any other story. In January I fell in love. In June I bought my lover a ticket across the Atlantic. He said he had work to do, but would return. He never did. 3 LAMINARIA SACCHARINA (1974) TO HIDE their tears, the women of the island walked into the ocean, never to return. Shimmering silvery tails grew where there used to be feet. They built colonies among the seaweeds. They swam the seven seas and explored places where no man has ever set foot. The only times they were seen again were on stormy nights, still executing their revenge, luring unfaithful sailors into the deep, dark ocean. TRIENTALIS ARCTICA (2008) WE REINVENT ourselves as people we can live with, said the inhabitants of the land where the Starflowers were the first to break through the still white ground in early spring. When our lovers treat us with the coldness of the Arctic Ocean, we find new ways of living made for ice. When we become people we did not think we could be, we forget. We have to. 5 THE STATE OF BEING CLOSE TOGETHER OR SIDE BY SIDE Installation Variable size The State of Being Close Together or Side by Side is a series of installations of books of flora with underscores made by pencil. The majority of the books are rented from local libraries, and returned to the institution after the exhibition with the underscores still inside them. Versions of this work has been exhibited in Jana Fröbergs projectspace The Greenhouse, Oslo, BKS Garage in Copenhagen and most recently at INCA in Detroit (2012). The epitaph was a project initiated by Siri Leira, Inger wold Lund and Ellen Henriette Suhrke. The design and layout was done by Inger Wold Lund.
