6 Day 1 Sample Itinerary Page (Venice, Italy) After settling into your Hotel with a bit of food, naps and showers plan to arrive at The Gritti Palace for Cocktails before dinner: short ride or walk from your Hotel. I will provide directions once you choose a hotel. 6:00 pm: Cocktails at the Gritti Palace Mapguide B From your Vaporetto Stop: Take Vap # 1 Get off at the stop: Giglio. Walk straight down the narrow path. Turn right and find the Gritti Palace Hotel right on the water. Mapguide B area San Marco. Gritti Palace Floating Deck Walk straight thru the lobby onto the floating deck. Directly overlooking the Grand Canal, with an incomparable view of Venice, the Palace of the Doge Gritti is now one of the most celebrated hotels in the world. Commissioned in 1525 as the residence of the Doge of Venice, Andrea Gritti, the Gritti Palace was later used as the official residence of the Vatican's ambassadors to Venice. A bit of history: The Hotel Gritti Palace continues to attract elite guests, with luxuriously appointed rooms, attentive service, and the savory cuisine of the Restaurant Club del Doge. Ernest Hemingway once appreciated the hotel "as the best hotel in a city of great hotels." The Hotel is a splendid little Palazzo that preserves within its walls stories of illustrious visitors such as the British Royal Family, the Duke of Windsor, Princes of Monaco, and Hollywood Stars. Daughter Brinley and I used to love to cocktail in the Gritti Bar (Marble so grand) on cold winter nights in January when Venice was covered with glorious snow! But in mild weather you can be sitting on this floating deck taking in all the sights and sounds of Venezia!...before moving onto Dinner elsewhere.

7 Day 1 Sample Itinerary Page After enjoying The Gritti plan to leave at 7:15 pm to go onto dinner minute trip from the Giglio Vap Stop. Take #1 Vap toward Rialto and get off in 1 stop at the Accademia Stop. As you exit the boat, turn left and then an immediate right onto Rio Terra Foscarini.walk straight thru to the dead end on Fondementa Zattere. When you dead end onto the water, turn right and stroll along the waterside (water on your left) until you arrive at the restaurant about a 10 minute walk. Mapguide B area Dorsoduro. 8:00 pm: Dinner Ristorante Riviera Mapguide B & C For many years this has been 1 of our favorite restaurants with superb food and service run by an American female chef and her Venetian husband. Now under new management it still has yet another spectacular view...and some very nice Venetian dishes. It s Waterside Dining overlooking the Giudecca Canal another spectacular water view.
