2 Access Control Committee While the Access Control team is still marching on with the RFID article, and the updating of the new generation FOB system, it is important to realize the other items that are happening in our community. We obviously are trying to maintain the standards that we set for our community by reminding our members periodically of the importance of safety. You may remember that just a couple of years ago we introduced a series of blinking stop lights to remind our members of the importance of stopping at the posted intersection stop signs. Well it worked well for a while, but now folks are slipping back into the old habit of either doing a rolling stop, or as seen in many cases not stopping at all, simply because they do not see any traffic ahead of them. We do need to remind all of our Residents of the importance of observing these stop signs and other posted signs. These signs are street-legal signs, and just because we live in a gated community does not mean we can ignore the rules of the road. Should an accident occur because of running a Stop sign, you can be prosecuted just the same as if you were on a main highway. Section 6.1 of the of the Rules & Regulations, and Article 2 section 2.2 (vi) in the CC&Rs allows the board to enforce the vehicle code within the community. So we are appealing to your better nature, and requesting you please, slow down, take a minute and respect your stop signs, and the other safety indicators of our community. Financial Committee Total assets balance is $5,158, Total liabilities are $115, Total reserves at this time are $3,806, The total equity is $1,237,627.21, which is a surplus balance. 12 Four Seasons Hemet Herald June 2017

4 Library Committee I have read some great books lately! Have you checked out the new books residents have donated? They are flying off the shelves. So many have been donated we are back up to speed now. May was Mother s Day. Did you receive a new book? Be sure to donate it after you finish reading it. The magazines needed at this time are dated April, May and June. We are still running empty most of the time so please bring your magazines to the library. Please return the ones you took to read as well. A large percentage of magazines borrowed are not returned. Thank you for your cooperation. We are so pleased to have many National Geographic magazines at this time! Thank you for returning them. Our hardbound books are getting full again with the recent donations. We keep the fiction hardbound books from 2006 and up. We don t have a date on the non-fiction books. History is important as well as the biographies. If you haven t looked at our non-fiction lately, take a minute to see what s available. The library committee constantly brainstorms ways to keep our library at its best. We ll keep you posted on the solutions we come up with. Our paperback books have plenty of room now that the accepted dates are from 2012 and up. That is still five years displayed. The shelves wax and wane constantly. Sometimes it s hard to squeeze a book in and then we ll look empty! If you haven t received a book lately, buy yourself a 2016 paperback and donate it! Are you enjoying the bookmarks that we made available for anyone to take? Most of us have many bookmarks at home. I have so many that were presents, why not make extras available for our residents? If you don t have one please take one home. Have extras? Bring them up for our cute container. We tried setting up an area for a Classic book section. But, we still only have one book. We had a beautiful section for the Classics a few years ago. Shogun was checked out all the time as well as Texas by Michener, Hawaii, and probably eight more. They were checked out but never returned. Maybe you have one or two you can donate! Our beautiful middle aged book author, Lynne Spreen, has agreed to have a book signing in September, sponsored by the Library Committee. We ll keep you up to date on when and where. You will so enjoy her! And, there will be cookies! Committee member Char read Heartbreak Hotel by Jonathan Kellerman For fans of Jonathan Kellerman, this is his thirty second mystery in the Alex Delaware series since At three weeks shy of 100 years old, Thalia Mars is not the kind of patient that child psychologist Alex Delaware normally treats. But she convinces him to meet her at the luxury hotel where she lives. She asks him about guilt, patterns of criminal behavior, and victim selection. When Alex asks why she is interested in such morbid subjects, she says she will tell all at their next meeting. But when he shows up the next morning, Thalia is dead in her room. Not surprising for a nearly 100-yearold woman. However, an observant police officer notices details that lead him to suspect that her death was not from natural causes. Now Alex and homicide detective Milo Sturgis must look into the long life of this fascinating but elusive woman, in a baffling investigation. Thalia is not an ordinary victim. She harbored nearly a century of secrets and her life and death draw those around her into more violence. Until next month stay out of trouble and read a book! 14 Four Seasons Hemet Herald June 2017
5 Emergency Preparedness Committee Wake-up call?!? Tornadoes, floods, fires, and devastating winds, and even a power outage at Four Seasons can catch us by surprise and have raised concerns with many residents. Preparedness for emergencies is everybody s business. Think of it as an insurance policy you may, hopefully, never have to file a claim for. It only seems unnecessary until something occurs! Those of us, as members of the EPC, are actively working on this. What else do you think should be done? We want to take this occasion to clarify what might be a misconception. We have heard some of our residents express concerns that they have not become involved because the emphasis on Community Emergency Response Training is either not interesting to them, or possibly beyond what they felt they were capable of participating in, due to time or physical restrictions. What we would like to make clear to everyone is the fact that while actual CERT does require a time commitment to take the full training, CERT services, should they be called upon, involve a lot more tasks than the physical demands of search and rescue. There is a strong need for eyes, ears, and feet on the street to determine what the extent of needs are (which can be done while driving through our community in a car or golf cart). There is a need for providers of care and comfort which can mean just being there with someone. There is a need for providers of care for pets that are either displaced, or can t be cared for by their owners. There is a need for people to record activities and provide assistance in information dissemination. PLEASE become involved in emergency preparation in learning what is the right thing to do, and how to do it right! Be a part of the solution not a part of the problem. So if you are new to our community, or if you haven t attended one, please seriously consider attending a meeting Mon., June 26 at 6:30 pm in the Multipurpose (Card) Room at the Lodge. 7 Facilities Committee It s another news magazine article presented for the Facilities Committee by its residing members giving insight to building or repair activities and general information that you have read about in the past three months. Here is something you have not been told by this committee and this is no secret. Did you know that the committee has an abundance of expertise that meets two times a month. On this committee you will find plumbing experts, private industrial managers, city managers, computer experts, electricians, electrical engineers, accountants, and naval experts dealing with standard operating procedures and general building maintenance. How much would this cost if you were to hire this type of expertise for a day? We could only guess it would be in the thousands of dollars to retain these experts for a few hours of their time. Did you know that this community with 1,106 homes, a Lodge building with a Bistro, meeting rooms, computer room, library, exercise room and equipment, pool and spa, structures, patio covers, miles of roadway, walkways, lighting fixtures, street lights, and just about anything else you could see that would require maintenance in the perimeters of this community. It s free. These experts give their time so that we can all enjoy a great place to live. Although you may see them out and around measuring, planning, or helping contractors, we don t catch everything, so we ask our residents to help us by requesting a form from the front desk and let us know what you have found. We want our community to be the best. All of these committee members have great pride in this place called Four Seasons of Hemet, and we want you to also feel the same pride. This committee thanks all of you in advance for your help. Four Seasons Hemet Herald June
8 Landscape Committee The Landscape Committee will begin working on the next phase to improve the overall appearance of the entry area as we drive in to the Lodge. Included in this phase will be the surrounding area in front of the Lodge to the street. With the help of the committee members along with our landscape contractor, a plan will be drawn up and presented to the Board of Directors for their approval. The target for planting is late September early October. Four Season Blvd. plantings from Bogey through the front gate has been completed and you should be enjoying all the new flowers, shrubs and trees that were added in this project. The patio area in back of the Lodge has been replanted and along with the new covered patio it can be a welcomed place for our residents to enjoy a party or just sit and converse. The committee s mission is to make our entire surroundings a place of beauty for our residents to enjoy and be proud of while also making an impression for guests and prospective home buyers. We welcome homeowners to our committee meetings that take place on the first Wednesday of each month. 18 Four Seasons Hemet Herald June 2017
