4 Policy Goals for Parks Housing Opportunity Areas to provide neighborhood parks New parks should be within 1000 feet of new residential projects Projects over 15 acres shall provide parklands Neighborhood Parks 3 acres min. The Policy recognized the need for community parks and recreational facilities Parks should connect to Trails Creation of Urban Plaza / Park Implementation is under the City Parkland Dedication (PDO) and Park Impact Ordinances (PIO)
5 PDO PIO Programs Requires New Housing: - Dedicate Parkland at a rate of 3.0 acres / 1000 pop. - Pay an In-Lieu Fee - Build new Parks and/or Recreational Facilities - Provides Credits for On-Site Recreational Facilities - Projects under 51 units pays In-Lieu Fee only - It s s a Pay as You Go System - $370 million is available for park and recreational facilities
