1 PR104/15 3 December 2015 MTR Festive Discount and Enhanced Train Services in December Add Enjoyment to the Holidays Christmas is coming! To add more joy to the seasonal celebrations, the MTR Corporation will offer the new MTR Festive Discount for domestic journeys 1 on the MTR on 26 and 27 December 2015, allowing Adult Octopus holders to enjoy concessionary fares equal to Child Octopus fares while other concessionary Octopus holders will pay a flat fare of $1 per journey. In addition, to provide more convenience to Christmas shoppers, a package of train service enhancements will kick off this Sunday (6 December 2015). MTR Festive Discount is the Corporation s new initiative to bring more cheer to passengers when they travel in the MTR during festive seasons. We heard from our passengers how much they appreciated our special Lunar New Year promotion earlier this year, so we are launching the MTR Festive Discount for six designated festive days over the next 12 months with 26 and 27 December being the first two designated days of the promotion, said Ms Jeny Yeung, Commercial Director of MTR Corporation. As the holiday season is always full of fun and excitement with Christmas activities, extra shopping and gatherings with friends and families, train services will be stepped up to ensure that our passengers can travel with ease to fully enjoy the festivities, said Dr Jacob Kam, Operations Director of MTR Corporation. More than 1,400 extra train trips will be operated for the holiday season including: Train service enhancements on Sundays, public holidays and the Winter Solstice in the month of December. Overnight train service will be provided on Christmas Eve and New Year s Eve on all MTR lines (except Airport Express, Disneyland Resort Line and some Light Rail) for the convenience of members of the public who wish to stay out late on those nights. 168 additional train trips will be operated on 26 and 27 December 2015 for smooth and comfortable journeys during the MTR Festive Discount period. (Please see details in Annex.) 1 Including Light Rail and MTR Bus but not including Airport Express, MTR Feeder Bus, journeys to or from Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations and East Rail Line First Class. -more-
2 Apart from the Christmas period, the MTR Festive Discount promotion will be also be offered next year at Lunar New Year (9 and 10 February 2016) and Easter (25 and 26 March 2016). -End- About MTR Corporation MTR Corporation is regarded as one of the world s leading railway operators for safety, reliability, customer service and cost efficiency.
