1 WORLD WAR TWO ( ) SERVICE PERSONNEL The Military Roll of Honour plaque in front of the Upper Hutt City Council building on Fergusson Drive Upper Hutt records the names of 17 World War One and 24 World War Two service personnel from the Upper Hutt district. HVUH WAR WWII Upper Hutt Personnel compiled by Lynly Lessels Yates New Zealand updated 15 August

2 WORLD WAR TWO SERVICE PERSONNEL ASSOCIATED WITH UPPER HUTT The plaque was the foundation stone for the list of World War Two Personnel associated with the Upper Hutt district. Other sources used were National Library of New Zealand, Papers past website, World War One Nominal Rolls, Commonwealth War Grave website, New Zealand Defence Force Archives, Archives New Zealand, Ancestry website plus various other resources and publications. I also hope to research the Returned Association Upper Hutt Branch early membership rolls for additional names and details. This World War Two Personnel roll consists of [1] names from the plaque typed in blue [2] names of those who appear on the Commonwealth War graves website typed in red and [3] the remainder typed in black are the Personnel who were discharged after service. This document is a work in progress and will take many years of research and may never be completely finished but it is a beginning. Evening Post newspaper 21 January 1942 Territorial Call Up Total of 27,104 Wellington Area Quota 4112 A Gazette published yesterday contains the names of 27,104 men who have been called up for Territorial service.
