2 1. SEYCHELLES PROFILE Information about Seychelles can be accessed at: This includes information on geography, climate, history, and attractions. 2. LANGUAGES Seychelles is trilingual, speaking Creole, English and French. 3. POPULATION The population of Seychelles stood at 95,821 at 31 st December ECONOMY The mainstay of the economy is the tourism and the fisheries industries, where the former contributes almost 70% of the foreign exchange earnings. Classified as a high income country by World Bank since July 2015, the people of Seychelles enjoy a relatively high standard of living. In addition, the country boasts modern infrastructures in terms of buildings, telecommunication and utility services. 5. TRAVEL AND VISA Seychelles is a visa-free country meaning that there are no visa requirements for any person wishing to travel to this country. However, for any nationals, they should have in their possession a valid passport or other travel documents recognised by Seychelles to be awarded entry into the country. The passport must be valid for the period of the intended stay, until arrival back in the holder s country of origin or residence. A visitor s permit is issued on arrival in Seychelles, as long as the person meets the following criteria: a) is not a prohibited immigrant; b) is not holder of a valid permit which entitles that holder to reside in Seychelles; c) holds a valid return or onward ticket for the duration of the visit; d) has confirmed accommodation; and e) has sufficient funds for the duration of the stay (minimum of US$ 150 or equivalent per day). 6. MEETING HEALTH REQUIREMENTS There is no risk of yellow fever in Seychelles. If arriving from a country where yellow fever is endemic, the Government of Seychelles will require proof of yellow fever vaccination (i.e. you will be required to present a valid yellow fever certificate) to be allowed entry into Seychelles. Seychelles is also malaria-free. 7. CURRENCY 2

3 The local currency is the Seychelles Rupee (SCR), but most tourist services, including accommodation, can be paid in Euros, either in cash or with payment cards. ATMs are generally found around the three main islands of Mahé, Praslin and La Digue, and will only dispense SCR. Money exchange services are provided by banks, money changers, and hotels. There are banks, money changers and ATM facilities at the Seychelles International Airport. 8. PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTOR DIALOGUE The Public and Private Sector Dialogue (PPSD) will be launched on 7 th September, 2018 after the ESAAMLG Council of Ministers meeting. This will be followed by a gala dinner. On 8 th September, 2018 three areas critical to developing robust AML/CFT regimes will be discussed in the Plenary. 9. DELEGATE REGISTRATION PROCEDURES AND DEADLINE The Delegates must complete the registration form online, on the following link:- Delegates must clearly indicate: The meeting they will be attending. In this case tick the last option on the application form Public/Private Sector Dialogue (PPSD); The name of the Airline, flight number, date and time of arrival and departure; and The hotel at which the delegate is booked. Delegates are requested to complete the online registration procedure by mid-august 2018, to assist the Seychelles Authorities with logistical planning. 10. REGISTRATION AT THE VENUE Registration will be done at Savoy Resort and Spa, on Friday 7 th September, 2018 from 1p.m for the PPSD. 11. VENUE: Savoy Resort and Spa Savoy Resort and Spa is situated 25 minutes drive or 13.5 km from Seychelles International airport to the Venue. 3

4 The Hotel location: Beau Vallon, Mahe. 12. FLIGHTS TO SEYCHELLES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT There are various flight options which connects with the Seychelles. As a guide please refer to Annex 1. On arrival delegates will be welcomed by a Team holding the ESAAMLG Banner. Transportation between Seychelles International Airport and Hotels will be provided to all delegates by the Seychelles Authorities. Other means of transportation from the Seychelles International Airport to the hotels for those who may prefer their own transport include Taxi services. Delegates are advised to use marked taxis. All licensed taxi drivers are supposed to operate with taxi meters. 13. Other Useful Information Electricity: In Seychelles the standard voltage is 240 V and the frequency is 50 Hz. Delegates can use their electric appliances, if the standard voltage in their country is in between V (as is in the UK, Europe, Australia and most of Asia and Africa). Standard Plug used is three-pin square socket plugs. Time Zone: (GMT+4) hours Roaming Services: Delegates are advised to contact their service provider before leaving home country. However, local mobile lines are available through our telecom Services i.e. Seychelles-Airtel and Cable and Wireless Seychelles. Air Time/prepaid card can be purchased at the Seychelles International Airport on arrival or at the hotel kiosk. Security: Generally, Seychelles is quite safe. Delegates are however encouraged to take sensible precautions to safeguard themselves and their possessions. Medical Services: Arrangements for medical assistance have been made at the conference centre to be accessible for minor medical complaints, at no cost to all delegates. A doctor will be stationed throughout the duration of the meetings at the Savoy medical facilities. In case of major complaints, medical facilities are available at Government and Private Clinics. Delegates are advised to have a full medical Insurance cover in the event that their medical condition requires major medical procedures or treatment. 14. ACCOMMODATION 4
