5 Abbreviations and Definitions Abbreviations CAR FAA IAW ICA LED Definitions Canadian Aviation Regulations Federal Aviation Administration In accordance with Light Emitting Diode 1.0 INTRODUCTION This manual sets forth the instructions for determining continued airworthiness of the installation of the LED Nav / AntiCollision Light System in Kamov KA32A11BC series aircraft ICA Distribution This document and any revisions thereto, shall be distributed to the operator of the aircraft incorporating this design change. CAR / FAR 21.50(b) require the approval holder to make the ICA available to the operator of the aircraft Referenced Documents The documents listed in Table 1 detail supplemental reference documents to aid in the maintenance of the subject modification. 6 2.0 DESCRIPTION The LED Nav / AntiCollision Light System is designed to replace the existing Rotating Beacon type anticollision light system with an LED flashing type anticollision light system, and the existing incandescent lamp position light system with an LED position light system. The LED system meets company requirements for increased visibility and reliability thereby providing for a higher degree of safety when flying in their work environment. 3.0 CONTROL Operation of the NAV lights is limited to the 100% position and off position only. There is no other change to the operation of any of the installed equipment. All operations will be in accordance with the latest approved Rotorcraft Flight Manual. 4.0 SERVICING INFORMATION Unchanged. 5.0 MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS 5.1. General Maintenance Procedures The LED wingtip position light assembly is designed with 7 LED s. If any one LED fails, the unit must be repaired or replaced. The LED tail position light assembly is designed with 6 LED's. If any one LED fails, the unit must be repaired or replaced. The LED Anticollision light assembly is designed with 10 vertical columns consisting of 3 LED's each. Should any one LED of any vertical column fail, the unit must be repaired or replaced Inspections Visual inspection of the LED Navigation Lights is carried out during exterior check following the sequence of exterior checks specified in the Rotorcraft Flight Manual. 1. Tailboom Right Side RH Navigation Light...CONDITION 2. Tail Right Side Rear Navigation Light.CONDITION 3. Tail Left Side LH Navigation Light CONDITION There is no change to the inspections of Anticollision light system. 7 5.3. Functional Test All Circuit Breakers ON NAV LTS Selector Switch......Set to 100% There is no change to the functional test of Anticollision light system. All functional tests will be in accordance with the latest approved Rotorcraft Flight Manual. 6.0 TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION Refer to the applicable sections of the Kamov Maintenance Manuals, Kamov Service Instructions, Manufacturer s Manuals, and VIH Aerospace Drawings referenced in Table 2 for detailed troubleshooting information. 7.0 REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT INFORMATION 7.1. Anticollision LED To remove the Anticollision LED: 1. Remove safety wires from Retaining Nut (item 1) IAW Kamov's KA32A11BC maintenance manual 2. Remove Retaining Nut (item 1) 3. Pull out LED (item 2) 4. Disconnect LED (item 2) IAW wiring diagram VK320814E330. Installation is the opposite of removal. 8 7.2. LH and RH Position LED To remove the LH or RH Position LED: 1. Remove 2 screws (item 1) 2. Pull out the Lens (item 2) 3. Pull out the Shroud (item 3) 4. Remove 1 screw (item 5) 5. Pull out LED (item 4) 6. Disconnect LED (item 4) IAW wiring diagram VK320814E335 Installation is the opposite of removal. 11 15.0 AIRWORTHINESS LIMITATIONS SECTION The Airworthiness Limitations section is Transport Canada approved by the Minister and specifies maintenance required by any applicable airworthiness or operating rule unless an alternative program has been approved by the Minister, and validated by the Federal Aviation Administration. NOTE: The Airworthiness Limitations Section is FAA approved and specifies the maintenance required under 14 CFR Sections and unless an alternative program has been FAA approved.
